1 Chronicles 13
1 And David consulted with the rulers of thousands and hundreds, even with every chief ruler.
Đa-vít hội ý với các quan viên, bao gồm các tướng và các thủ lĩnh.
2 And David said to all the convocation of Israel, If, unto you, it seemeth to be good, and from Yahweh our God, we will urgently send unto our brethren who remain in all the lands of Israel, and, with them, the priests and the Levites in their pasture-land cities, —that they may gather together unto us;
Rồi ông truyền bảo đoàn dân Ít-ra-ên đang tập họp: “Nếu anh chị em muốn tôi lên ngôi, và nếu đó là ý Chúa, Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta, hãy cử sứ giả đi triệu tập dân khắp đất nước Ít-ra-ên, kể cả các thầy tế lễ và người Lê-vi, để mời họ đến hiệp với chúng ta.
3 and let us bring round the ark of our God, unto us, —For they sought it not, in the days of Saul.
Đó là lúc rước Hòm Giao Ước của Đức Chúa Trời về đây với chúng ta, vì chúng ta đã bỏ bê Hòm ấy dưới triều Vua Sau-lơ.”
4 Than said all the convocation, that it should be done thus, —for right was the thing, in the eyes of all the people.
Toàn dân đồng thanh tán thành đề nghị ấy, vì ai cũng thấy là việc nên làm.
5 So David convoked all Israel, from Shihor of Egypt, even unto the entering in of Hamath, —to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
Vậy, Đa-vít triệu tập người Ít-ra-ên khắp đất nước cùng đi lên Ba-a-la, tức là Ki-ri-át Giê-a-rim thuộc Ai Cập về dự lễ rước Hòm Giao Ước của Đức Chúa Trời.
6 And David went up and all Israel to Baalah, unto Kiriath-jearim, which pertaineth to Judah, —to bring up from thence, the ark of God—Yahweh who inhabiteth the cherubim, on which is called the Name.
Đa-vít và toàn dân kéo đến Ba-la (tức Ki-ri-át Giê-a-rim) trong xứ Giu-đa để rước Hòm Giao Ước của Đức Chúa Trời, là Đấng đang ngự trên các thiên thần.
7 And they carried the ark of God, upon a new waggon, out of the house of Aminadab, —and, Uzza and Ahio, were driving the waggon.
Người ta đem Hòm Giao Ước của Đức Chúa Trời ra khỏi nhà A-bi-na-đáp trên một chiếc xe đẩy mới. U-xa và A-hi-ô hướng dẫn kéo xe.
8 And, David and all Israel, were dancing for joy before God, with all boldness, and with songs and with lyres, and with harps and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
Đa-vít và dân chúng nhảy múa trước mặt Chúa vô cùng hân hoan, ca hát, và chơi tất cả loại nhạc cụ—đàn lia, đàn hạc, trống nhỏ, chập chõa, và kèn.
9 And, when they came as far as the threshing-floor of Chidon, Uzza thrust forth his hand, to seize the ark, for the oxen were restive.
Khi họ đến sân đạp lúa của Ki-đôn, U-xa đưa tay nắm giữ Hòm Giao Ước vì bò trượt bước.
10 Then was kindled the anger of Yahweh against Uzza, and he smote him, because he thrust forth his hand unto the ark, —and he died there, before God.
Cơn thịnh nộ của Chúa Hằng Hữu nổi phừng cùng U-xa và đánh ông chết tại chỗ vì ông đã chạm đến Hòm. Vì vậy, U-xa chết trước mặt Đức Chúa Trời.
11 And it was a sadness unto David, that Yahweh had broken in with a breach against Uzza, —and he called that place Perez-uzza, [as it is called] unto this day.
Đa-vít buồn phiền vì Chúa Hằng Hữu nổi giận với U-xa nên gọi nơi ấy là Phê-rết U-xa (nghĩa là “Chúa nổi thịnh nộ trên U-xa”), tên này đến nay vẫn còn.
12 And David was afraid of God, on that day, saying, —How can I bring unto me, the ark of God?
Bấy giờ, Đa-vít sợ Đức Chúa Trời và tự hỏi: “Làm sao ta rước Hòm của Đức Chúa Trời về nhà ta được?”
13 So David removed not the ark unto him, into the city of David, —but took it aside into the house of Obed-edom, the Gittite.
Vậy, Đa-vít quyết định rước Hòm về nhà của Ô-bết Ê-đôm, người Gát, thay vì đem về Thành Đa-vít.
14 And the ark of God remained with the household of Obed-edom, in his house, three months, —and Yahweh blessed the household of Obed-edom, and all that he had.
Hòm của Đức Chúa Trời ở lại với gia đình Ô-bết Ê-đôm ba tháng và Chúa Hằng Hữu ban phước cho nhà Ô-bết Ê-đôm và mọi thứ đều thuộc về ông.
