1 Chronicles 11
1 Then did all Israel gather themselves together to David, unto Hebron, saying, —Lo! thy bone and thy flesh, are we.
Då kom heile Israel i hop hjå David i Hebron og sagde: «Du veit me og du er same folket.
2 Moreover also, in time past even when Saul was king, thou, wast he that led out and brought in Israel, —and Yahweh thy God said unto thee, Thou, shalt shepherd my people Israel, Yea, thou, shalt be chief ruler, over my people Israel.
Alt longe sidan, då Saul endå var konge, var du den som førde Israel. Og til deg hev Herren din Gud, sagt: «Du skal vera ein hyrding for Israel, folket mitt, ja, du skal vera ein hovding yver mitt folk Israel.»»
3 Thus came all the elders of Israel unto the king, to Hebron, and David solemnised to them a covenant in Hebron, before Yahweh, —and they anointed David to be king over Israel, according to the word of Yahweh, through Samuel.
Då so alle styresmennerne i Israel kom til kongen i Hebron, gjorde David eit samband med deim der i Hebron for Herrens åsyn, og sidan salva dei David til konge yver Israel, etter Herrens ord gjenom Samuel.
4 Then went David and all Israel to Jerusalem, the same, was Jebus, —where were the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land.
Og David for med heile Israel til Jerusalem, det er Jebus; der var jebusitarne, som endå var att i landet.
5 And the inhabitants of Jebus said unto David, Thou shalt not come in hither, —But David captured the citadel of Zion, the same, is the city of David.
Og Jebus-buarne sagde til David: «Du kjem ikkje inn her.» Men David tok like vel Sionsborgi, det er Davidsbyen.
6 And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites, first, shall become a chief, and a ruler, —So then Joab son of Zeruiah, went up first, and became a chief.
Og David sagde: «Den som fyrst drep ein jebusit, kven det so er, han skal verta hovding og herførar.» Og Joab, son åt Seruja, kom fyrst upp, og vart då hovding.
7 And David dwelt in the citadel, —for this cause, did they call it, The City of David.
Sidan sette David seg til i borgi; difor kalla dei henne Davidsbyen.
8 And he built the city round about, from Millo even as far as the circuit, —but, Joab, suffered the remainder of the city to live.
Og han bygde byen rundt umkring, frå Millo og heilt ikring, og Joab bygde upp att det andre av byen.
9 Thus did David wax greater and yet greater, —and, Yahweh of Hosts, was with him.
Og Davids velde auka Davids velde stødt og stendigt, og Herren, allhers drott, var med honom.
10 Now, these, are the chiefs of the heroes, that pertained to David, who held strongly with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king, —according to the word of Yahweh, concerning Israel.
Og dette er dei gjævaste kjemporne hans David, som gav honom kraftig hjelp, i lag med heile Israel, til å verta konge, til å gjeva honom kongedømet hans, etter Herrens ord um Israel.
11 And, this, is the number of the heroes who pertained to David, —Jashobeam son of a Hachmonite, chief of the thirty, the same, brandished his spear over three hundred—slain at one time.
Dette er talet på kjemporne hans David: Jasobam, son til hakmoniføraren for kjemporne; han svinga spjotet sitt yver tri hundrad, som vart drepne i ein gong.
12 And, after him, was Eleazar son of Dodai, the Ahohite, —he, was among the three heroes;
Og etter han kom Eleazar, son åt Dodo, ahohiten; han var ein av dei tri kjemporne.
13 he, was with David in Pas-dammim, where, the Philistines, were gathered together to battle, and there was a field-plot full of barley, —and, the people, fled, from before the Philistines;
Han var med David i Pas-Dammim, då filistarane hadde kome saman til strid, og der var ein åkerlapp fullgrodd med bygg; og folket rømde for filistarane.
14 so they took their stand in the midst of the plot and rescued it, and smote the Philistines, —and Yahweh wrought a great victory.
Då stødte dei seg upp midt på åkerleppen og varde honom og hogg ned filistarane, og Herren gav deim soleis ein stor siger.
15 And three of the thirty chiefs went down upon the rock, unto David, into the cave of Adullam, —a host of Philistines, being encamped in the vale of Rephaim.
Ein gong for tri av dei tretti hovdingarne nedetter berget til David ved Adullams-helleren, medan ein flokk med filistar hadde lægra seg i Refa’imsdalen.
16 Now, David, then was in the stronghold, —and, a garrison of Philistines, then was in Bethlehem.
Men David var den gongen i borgi, og ein av filistarvaktpost var då i Betlehem.
17 And David longed, and said—Who will give me to drink of the water, out of the well of Bethlehem, that is within the gate?
Då fekk David brått ein sterk hug og sagde: «Å um einkvan vilde gjeva meg vatn å drikka utor brunnen som er attmed porten i Betlehem!»
18 And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was within the gate, and bare it, and brought it in unto David, —yet would not David drink it, but poured it out unto Yahweh;
Då slo dei tri seg gjenom filistarlægret og auste vatn utor brunnen ved porten i Betlehem, og tok og bar det åt David. Men David vilde ikkje drikka det, men helte det ut for Herren.
19 and said—Far be it from me, of my God, that I should do this! The blood of these men, shall I drink, with their lives? For, with their lives, have they brought it! So he would not drink it. These things, did the three heroes.
For han sagde: «Gud late det aldri koma i mine tankar at eg skulde gjera slikt! Skulde eg drikka blodet av desse mennerne som hev våga livet? For med livs vågnad hev dei bore det hit.» Han vilde ikkje drikka det. Dette hadde dei tri kjemporne gjort.
20 And, Abishai brother of Joab—he, was the chief of three, he, having brandished his spear against three hundred—who were slain, —and so, he, had a name among three.
Absai, bror hans Joab, var føraren for dei tri; han svinga spjotet sitt yver tri hundrad, som vart drepne. Og han var namngjeten millom dei tri.
21 Of the three in the second rank, was he honourable, therefore became he their captain, —though, unto the [first] three, did he not attain.
Han var ein gong til so mykje vyrd som nokon annan i dette tritalet, og han var hovdingen deira; men endå nådde han ikkje upp til dei tri fyrste.
22 Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, son of a man of valour, hero of many a deed, from Kabziel—he, smote the two [sons] of Ariel of Moab, he, also went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit, in time of snow;
Benaja, son hans Jojada, som var son åt ein djerv og dådrik mann frå Kabse’el, han drap dei tvo Arielarne i Moab, og det var han som steig ned i brunnen ein snøversdag og slo i hel ei løva der.
23 he, also smote an Egyptian, a man of [great] stature, five cubits, and, in the hand of the Egyptian, was a spear like a weaver’s beam, so he went down unto him with a staff, —and wrested the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slew him with his spear.
Han felte og den risestore egyptaren som var fem alner høg. Endå egyptaren hadde eit spjot i handi som liktest stor-riven i ein vev, so gjekk han imot honom, og hadde ikkje anna til verja enn staven sin. Og han rykte spjotet ut or handi på egyptaren og drap honom med hans eige spjot.
24 These things, did Benaiah son of Jehoiada, so, he, had a name among three heroes.
Dette hadde Benaja Jojadason gjort. Og han var namngjeten millom dei tri kjemporne.
25 Among the thirty, lo! honourable, was he, but, unto the [first] three, did he not attain, —howbeit David set him over his council.
Ja, han var meir vyrd enn nokon av dei tretti; men upp til dei tri fyrste nådde han ikkje. Og David sette honom til hovding yver livvakti si.
26 Now, the heroes of the forces, were, —Asahel, brother of Joab, Elhanan, son of Dodo, of Bethlehem;
Dei djerve herkjemporne var desse: Asael, bror åt Joab, Elhanan, son åt Dodo, frå Betlehem.
27 Shammoth, the Harorite, Helez the Paltite;
Sammot, haroriten. Heles, peloniten,
28 Ira, son of Ikkesh, the Tekoite, Abiezer, the Anathothite;
Ira, son åt Ikkes, frå Tekoa, Abiezer frå Anatot,
29 Sibbecai, the Hushathite, Ilai, the Ahohite;
husatiten Sibbekai, ahohiten Ilai,
30 Maharai, the Netophathite, Heled, son of Baanah, the Netophathite;

31 Ithai, son of Ribai, of Gibeah, of the sons of Benjamin, —Benaiah, the Pirathonite;

32 Hurai, of the torrents of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite;
