< 1 Chronicles 11 >

1 Then did all Israel gather themselves together to David, unto Hebron, saying, —Lo! thy bone and thy flesh, are we.

૧પછી સમગ્ર ઇઝરાયલે, હેબ્રોનમાં દાઉદની પાસે એકઠા થઈને કહ્યું, “જો, અમારો તારી સાથે લોહીનો સંબંધ છે, તારા કુટુંબીઓ છીએ.

2 Moreover also, in time past even when Saul was king, thou, wast he that led out and brought in Israel, —and Yahweh thy God said unto thee, Thou, shalt shepherd my people Israel, Yea, thou, shalt be chief ruler, over my people Israel.

૨ગતકાળમાં શાઉલ રાજા હતો ત્યારે પણ ઇઝરાયલને બહાર લઈ જનાર તથા અંદર લાવનાર તું જ હતો. તારા પ્રભુ યહોવાહે તને કહ્યું હતું કે, ‘તું મારા ઇઝરાયલી લોકોનું પાલન કરશે, તું મારા ઇઝરાયલી લોકો પર અધિકારી થશે.”

3 Thus came all the elders of Israel unto the king, to Hebron, and David solemnised to them a covenant in Hebron, before Yahweh, —and they anointed David to be king over Israel, according to the word of Yahweh, through Samuel.

૩પછી ઇઝરાયલના બધા વડીલો હેબ્રોનમાં રાજા સમક્ષ આવ્યા, દાઉદે હેબ્રોનમાં યહોવાહની સમક્ષ તેઓની સાથે કરાર કર્યો. શમુએલ મારફતે અપાયેલા યહોવાહના વચન પ્રમાણે તેઓએ દાઉદને ઇઝરાયલ પર રાજા તરીકે અભિષિક્ત કર્યો.

4 Then went David and all Israel to Jerusalem, the same, was Jebus, —where were the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land.

૪દાઉદ તથા સર્વ ઇઝરાયલ, યરુશાલેમ એટલે યબૂસ ગયા. દેશના રહેવાસી યબૂસીઓ ત્યાં હતા.

5 And the inhabitants of Jebus said unto David, Thou shalt not come in hither, —But David captured the citadel of Zion, the same, is the city of David.

૫યબૂસના રહેવાસીઓએ દાઉદને કહ્યું, “તારાથી અંદર આવી શકાશે નહિ.” તો પણ દાઉદે સિયોનનો કિલ્લો જીતી લીધો. તે જ દાઉદ નગર છે.

6 And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites, first, shall become a chief, and a ruler, —So then Joab son of Zeruiah, went up first, and became a chief.

૬દાઉદે કહ્યું, જે કોઈ યબૂસીઓને પ્રથમ મારશે તે સેનાપતિ થશે.” સરુયાના દીકરા યોઆબે પ્રથમ હુમલો કર્યો, તે સેનાપતિ બન્યો.

7 And David dwelt in the citadel, —for this cause, did they call it, The City of David.

૭પછી દાઉદ કિલ્લામાં રહ્યો. માટે તેઓએ તેનું નામ દાઉદનગર પાડ્યું.

8 And he built the city round about, from Millo even as far as the circuit, —but, Joab, suffered the remainder of the city to live.

૮તેણે મિલ્લોથી લઈને ચોતરફ નગર બાંધ્યું. યોઆબે બાકીના નગરને સમાર્યું.

9 Thus did David wax greater and yet greater, —and, Yahweh of Hosts, was with him.

૯દાઉદ વધુ અને વધુ મહાન થતો ગયો, કેમ કે સૈન્યના ઈશ્વર તેની સાથે હતા.

10 Now, these, are the chiefs of the heroes, that pertained to David, who held strongly with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king, —according to the word of Yahweh, concerning Israel.

૧૦દાઉદના મુખ્ય યોદ્ધાઓ કે જેઓ, ઇઝરાયલ વિષે ઈશ્વરના વચન પ્રમાણે તેને રાજા બનાવવા માટે ઇઝરાયલની સાથે દ્રઢપણે તેના રાજયમાં તેની પડખે રહ્યા.

11 And, this, is the number of the heroes who pertained to David, —Jashobeam son of a Hachmonite, chief of the thirty, the same, brandished his spear over three hundred—slain at one time.

૧૧તેઓની દાઉદે ગણતરી કરી. તેઓ આ છે: હાખ્મોનીનો દીકરો યાશોબામ એ ત્રણમાંનો મુખ્ય સેનાપતિ હતો. તેણે પોતાની બરછીથી ત્રણસો માણસોને એક જ વખતે મારી નાખ્યા હતા.

12 And, after him, was Eleazar son of Dodai, the Ahohite, —he, was among the three heroes;

૧૨તેના પછી અહોહી દોદોનો દીકરો એલાઝાર હતો, જે ત્રણ યોદ્ધાઓમાંનો એક હતો.

13 he, was with David in Pas-dammim, where, the Philistines, were gathered together to battle, and there was a field-plot full of barley, —and, the people, fled, from before the Philistines;

૧૩પાસ-દામ્મીમમાં તે દાઉદની સાથે હતો, ત્યાં જવના ખેતરમાં પલિસ્તીઓ લડાઈને સારુ એકઠા થયા હતા, લોકો પલિસ્તીઓની આગળથી નાસતા હતા.

14 so they took their stand in the midst of the plot and rescued it, and smote the Philistines, —and Yahweh wrought a great victory.

૧૪ત્યારે તેઓએ તે ખેતરની વચ્ચે ઊભા રહીને તેનો બચાવ કર્યો, પલિસ્તીઓને મારી નાખ્યા. ઈશ્વરે મોટો જય કરીને તેઓને બચાવ્યા.

15 And three of the thirty chiefs went down upon the rock, unto David, into the cave of Adullam, —a host of Philistines, being encamped in the vale of Rephaim.

૧૫ત્રીસ આગેવાનોમાંના ત્રણ દાઉદની પાસે અદુલ્લામની ગુફામાં ગઢ આગળ જઈ પહોંચ્યા. પલિસ્તીઓના સૈન્યએ રફાઈમના મેદાનમાં છાવણી નાખી હતી.

16 Now, David, then was in the stronghold, —and, a garrison of Philistines, then was in Bethlehem.

૧૬દાઉદ તે સમયે ગઢમાં હતો, બેથલેહેમમાં પલિસ્તીઓનું થાણું હતું.

17 And David longed, and said—Who will give me to drink of the water, out of the well of Bethlehem, that is within the gate?

૧૭દાઉદે પાણી માટે આતુર થઈને કહ્યું, “જો કોઈ મને બેથલેહેમના દરવાજા પાસેના ફૂવાનું પાણી પીવડાવે તો કેવું સારુ!”

18 And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was within the gate, and bare it, and brought it in unto David, —yet would not David drink it, but poured it out unto Yahweh;

૧૮તેથી આ ત્રણ શૂરવીર પુરુષોએ પલિસ્તીઓની છાવણીમાં ધસી જઈને તે દરવાજા પાસેના બેથલેહેમના કૂવામાંથી પાણી કાઢ્યું. તેઓ તે પાણી લઈને દાઉદની પાસે આવ્યા, પણ દાઉદે તે પાણી પીવાની ના પાડી. પણ તેણે તે ઈશ્વરની આગળ રેડી દીધું.

19 and said—Far be it from me, of my God, that I should do this! The blood of these men, shall I drink, with their lives? For, with their lives, have they brought it! So he would not drink it. These things, did the three heroes.

૧૯પછી તેણે કહ્યું, હું આ કેમ પીઉં? “મારા ઈશ્વર મને એવું કરવા ન દો. આ પુરુષો કે જેઓએ પોતાના જીવ જોખમમાં નાખ્યા છે તેઓનું લોહી હું કેમ પીઉં? કેમ કે તેઓ તો પોતાના જીવના જોખમે તે લાવ્યા છે.” માટે તે પીવાને રાજી ન હતો. આ કાર્યો એ ત્રણ યોદ્ધાઓએ કર્યાં હતાં.

20 And, Abishai brother of Joab—he, was the chief of three, he, having brandished his spear against three hundred—who were slain, —and so, he, had a name among three.

૨૦યોઆબનો ભાઈ અબિશાય તે ત્રણનો ઉપરી હતો. કેમ કે તેણે પોતાની બરછી ત્રણસો માણસોની વિરુદ્ધ ઉઠાવીને તેઓને મારી નાખ્યા. એમ કરીને તેણે ત્રણમાં નામના મેળવી.

21 Of the three in the second rank, was he honourable, therefore became he their captain, —though, unto the [first] three, did he not attain.

૨૧ત્રીસમાં તે વધારે નામાંકિત હતો અને તે તેઓનો ઉપરી થયો. જો કે તે પેલા ત્રણની બરાબરી કરી શક્યો નહિ.

22 Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, son of a man of valour, hero of many a deed, from Kabziel—he, smote the two [sons] of Ariel of Moab, he, also went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit, in time of snow;

૨૨કાબ્સએલના પરાક્રમી કૃત્યો કરનાર શૂરવીર પુરુષના દીકરા યહોયાદાનો દીકરો બનાયા હતો. તેણે મોઆબી અરીએલના બે દીકરાઓને મારી નાખ્યા. વળી તેણે હીમ પડતું હતું ત્યારે ગુફામાં જઈને એક સિંહને મારી નાખ્યો.

23 he, also smote an Egyptian, a man of [great] stature, five cubits, and, in the hand of the Egyptian, was a spear like a weaver’s beam, so he went down unto him with a staff, —and wrested the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slew him with his spear.

૨૩વળી તેણે પાંચ હાથ ઊંચા મિસરી પુરુષને પણ મારી નાખ્યો. તે મિસરીના હાથમાં વણકરની તોરના જેવી એક બરછી હતી, પરંતુ તે ફક્ત લાકડી લઈને તેની સામે થયો. તેણે તે બરછી મિસરીના હાથમાંથી છીનવી લઈને તેની જ બરછીથી તેને મારી નાખ્યો.

24 These things, did Benaiah son of Jehoiada, so, he, had a name among three heroes.

૨૪યહોયાદાના દીકરા બનાયાએ એ કાર્યો કર્યાં, તેથી તે પેલા ત્રણ યોદ્ધાઓના જેવો નામાંકિત થયો.

25 Among the thirty, lo! honourable, was he, but, unto the [first] three, did he not attain, —howbeit David set him over his council.

૨૫તે પેલા ત્રીસ યોદ્ધાઓ કરતાં પણ વધારે નામાંકિત હતો, પણ તે પેલા ત્રણની બરાબરી કરી શક્યો નહિ. દાઉદે તેને પોતાના અંગરક્ષકોનો ઉપરી ઠરાવ્યો.

26 Now, the heroes of the forces, were, —Asahel, brother of Joab, Elhanan, son of Dodo, of Bethlehem;

૨૬વળી સૈન્યમાં આ યોદ્ધાઓ પણ હતા: યોઆબનો ભાઈ અસાહેલ, બેથલેહેમના દોદોનો દીકરો એલ્હાનાન,

27 Shammoth, the Harorite, Helez the Paltite;

૨૭શામ્મોથ હરોરી, હેલેસ પલોની,

28 Ira, son of Ikkesh, the Tekoite, Abiezer, the Anathothite;

૨૮તકોઈ ઇક્કેશનો દીકરો ઈરા, અબીએઝેર અનાથોથી,

29 Sibbecai, the Hushathite, Ilai, the Ahohite;

૨૯સિબ્બખાય હુશાથી, ઈલાહ અહોહી.
