< Romans 9 >

1 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing witness with me in the Holy Ghost,
Òtítọ́ ni èmi ń sọ nínú Kristi, èmi kò ṣèké, ọkàn mi sì ń jẹ́ mi ní ẹ̀rí nínú Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́.
2 that I have great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart.
Pé mo ní ìbìnújẹ́ púpọ̀, àti ìkáàánú ìgbà gbogbo ni ọkàn mi.
3 For I could wish that I myself were anathema from Christ for my brethren’s sake, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
Nítorí mo fẹ́rẹ lè gbàdúrà pé kí èmi tìkára mi kúrò lọ́dọ̀ Kristi nítorí àwọn ará mi, àwọn ìbátan mi nípa ti ara.
4 who are Israelites; whose is the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service [of God], and the promises;
Àwọn ẹni tí i ṣe Israẹli; tí àwọn ẹni tí ìsọdọmọ í ṣe, àti ògo, àti májẹ̀mú, àti ìfúnilófin, àti ìsìn Ọlọ́run, àti àwọn ìlérí.
5 whose are the fathers, and of whom is Christ as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
Tí ẹni tí àwọn Baba í ṣe, àti láti ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn ẹni tí Kristi ti wá nípa ti ara, ẹni tí ó borí ohun gbogbo, Ọlọ́run olùbùkún láéláé. Àmín. (aiōn g165)
6 But [it is] not as though the word of God hath come to nought. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
Ṣùgbọ́n kì í ṣe pé nítorí ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run di asán. Kì í sá í ṣe gbogbo àwọn tí ó ti inú Israẹli wá, àwọn ni Israẹli.
7 neither, because they are Abraham’s seed, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kì í ṣe pé, nítorí wọ́n jẹ́ irú-ọmọ Abrahamu, gbogbo wọn ni ọmọ. Ní ọ̀nà mìíràn, “Nínú Isaaki ni a ó ti pe irú-ọmọ rẹ̀.”
8 That is, it is not the children of the flesh that are children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned for a seed.
Èyí nì ni pé, kì í ṣe àwọn ọmọ nípa ti ara ni ọmọ Ọlọ́run, ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ọmọ ìlérí ni a kà ní irú-ọmọ.
9 For this is a word of promise, According to this season will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
Nítorí ọ̀rọ̀ ìlérí ni èyí: “Ní ìwòyí àmọ́dún ni èmi yóò wá, Sara yóò sì ní ọmọ ọkùnrin.”
10 And not only so; but Rebecca also having conceived by one, [even] by our father Isaac—
Kì í sì í ṣe kìkì èyí, ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí Rebeka pẹ̀lú lóyún fún ẹnìkan, fún Isaaki baba wa.
11 for [the children] being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth,
Nítorí nígbà tí kò tí ì bí àwọn ọmọ náà, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọn kò tí ì ṣe rere tàbí búburú—kí ìpinnu Ọlọ́run nípa ti ìyànfẹ́ kí ó lè dúró,
12 it was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
kì í ṣe nípa ti iṣẹ́, bí kò ṣe ti ẹni tí ń peni—a ti sọ fún un pé, “Ẹ̀gbọ́n ni yóò máa sin àbúrò.”
13 Even as it is written, Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.
Gẹ́gẹ́ bí a ti kọ ọ́ pé, “Jakọbu ni mo fẹ́ràn, ṣùgbọ́n Esau ni mo kórìíra.”
14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
Ǹjẹ́ àwa yóò ha ti wí? Àìṣòdodo ha wà lọ́dọ̀ Ọlọ́run bí? Kí a má ri!
15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.
Nítorí ó wí fún Mose pé, “Èmi ó ṣàánú fún ẹni tí èmi yóò ṣàánú fún, èmi yóò sì ṣe ìyọ́nú fún ẹni tí èmi yóò ṣe ìyọ́nú fún.”
16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that hath mercy.
Ǹjẹ́ bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kì í ṣe ti ẹni tí ó fẹ́, kì í sì í ṣe ti ẹni tí ń sáré, bí kò ṣe ti Ọlọ́run tí ń ṣàánú.
17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, For this very purpose did I raise thee up, that I might shew in thee my power, and that my name might be published abroad in all the earth.
Nítorí ìwé mímọ́ wí fún Farao pé, “Nítorí èyí náà ni mo ṣe gbé ọ dìde, kí èmi kí ó le fi agbára mi hàn lára rẹ, àti kí a bá à le máa ròyìn orúkọ mi ká gbogbo ayé.”
18 So then he hath mercy on whom he will, and whom he will he hardeneth.
Nítorí náà ni ó ṣe ń ṣàánú fún ẹni tí ó wù ú, ẹni tí ó wù ú a sì mú ní ọkàn le.
19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he still find fault? For who withstandeth his will?
Ìwọ ó sì wí fún mi pé, “Kín ni ó ha tún bá ni wí sí? Nítorí ta ni ó ń de ìfẹ́ rẹ lọ́nà?”
20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why didst thou make me thus?
Bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́, ìwọ ènìyàn, tà ni ìwọ tí ń dá Ọlọ́run lóhùn? “Ohun tí a mọ, a ha máa wí fún ẹni tí ó mọ ọ́n pé, ‘Èéṣe tí ìwọ fi mọ mi báyìí?’”
21 Or hath not the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
Amọ̀kòkò kò ha ni agbára lórí amọ̀, nínú ìṣù kan náà láti ṣe apá kan nínú ohun èlò sí ọlá, àti apá kan nínú ohun èlò sí àìlọ́lá?
22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering vessels of wrath fitted unto destruction:
Ǹjẹ́ bí Ọlọ́run bá fẹ́ fi ìbínú rẹ̀ hàn ń kọ́? Tí ó sì fẹ́ sọ agbára rẹ̀ di mí mọ̀, tí ó sì mú sùúrù púpọ̀ fún àwọn ohun èlò ìbínú tí a ṣe fún ìparun.
23 and that he might make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy, which he afore prepared unto glory,
Àti kí ó lè sọ ọ̀rọ̀ ògo rẹ̀ di mí mọ̀ lára àwọn ohun èlò àánú tí ó ti pèsè ṣáájú fún ògo.
24 [even] us, whom he also called, not from the Jews only, but also from the Gentiles?
Àní àwa, tí ó ti pè, kì í ṣe nínú àwọn Júù nìkan, ṣùgbọ́n nínú àwọn Kèfèrí pẹ̀lú?
25 As he saith also in Hosea, I will call that my people, which was not my people; And her beloved, which was not beloved.
Bí ó ti wí pẹ̀lú ní Hosea pé, “Èmi ó pe àwọn tí kì í ṣe ènìyàn mi, ní ‘ènìyàn mi’, àti ẹni tí kí í ṣe àyànfẹ́ ní ‘àyànfẹ́.’”
26 And it shall be, [that] in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, There shall they be called sons of the living God.
Yóò sì ṣe, “Ní ibi ti a gbé ti sọ fún wọn pé, ‘Ẹ̀yin kì í ṣe ènìyàn mi,’ níbẹ̀ ni a ó gbé pè wọ́n ní ‘ọmọ Ọlọ́run alààyè.’”
27 And Isaiah crieth concerning Israel, If the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, it is the remnant that shall be saved:
Isaiah sì kígbe nítorí Israẹli pé: “Bí iye àwọn ọmọ Israẹli bá rí bí iyanrìn Òkun, apá kan ni ó gbàlà.
28 for the Lord will execute [his] word upon the earth, finishing it and cutting it short.
Nítorí Olúwa yóò mú ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ ṣẹ lórí ilẹ̀ ayé, yóò parí rẹ̀, yóò sì ké e kúrò ní òdodo.”
29 And, as Isaiah hath said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, We had become as Sodom, and had been made like unto Gomorrah.
Àti bí Isaiah ti wí tẹ́lẹ̀: “Bí kò ṣe bí Olúwa àwọn Ọmọ-ogun ti fi irú-ọmọ sílẹ̀ fún wa, àwa ìbá ti dàbí Sodomu, a bá sì ti sọ wá dàbí Gomorra.”
30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith:
Ǹjẹ́ kí ni àwa ó ha wí? Pé àwọn Kèfèrí, tí kò lépa òdodo, ọwọ́ wọn tẹ òdodo, ṣùgbọ́n òdodo tí ó ti inú ìgbàlà wá ni.
31 but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at [that] law.
Ṣùgbọ́n Israẹli ti ń lépa òfin òdodo, ọwọ́ wọn kò tẹ òfin òdodo.
32 Wherefore? Because [they sought it] not by faith, but as it were by works. They stumbled at the stone of stumbling;
Nítorí kí ni? Nítorí wọn kò wá a nípa ìgbàgbọ́, ṣùgbọ́n bí ẹni pé nípa iṣẹ́ òfin. Nítorí wọn kọsẹ̀ lára òkúta ìkọ̀sẹ̀ ni.
33 even as it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence: And he that believeth on him shall not be put to shame.
Gẹ́gẹ́ bí a ti kọ ọ́ pé, “Kíyèsi, mo gbé òkúta ìkọ̀sẹ̀ kalẹ̀ ní Sioni àti àpáta tí ó mú wọn ṣubú, ẹnikẹ́ni ti ó bá sì gbà a gbọ́, ojú kì yóò tì í.”
