Romans 14
1 But him that is weak in faith receive ye, [yet] not to doubtful disputations.
Nehmt euch um den an, der im Glauben schwach ist, doch nicht, um mit ihm wegen Meinungsverschiedenheiten zu streiten.
2 One man hath faith to eat all things: but he that is weak eateth herbs.
Der eine hat genügend Glauben, so daß er alles essen kann; ein anderer, der noch schwach ist, ißt eben nur Gemüse.
3 Let not him that eateth set at nought him that eateth not; and let not him that eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
Wer alles essen kann, soll den nicht verachten, der nicht ißt, und wer nicht ißt, soll den, der ißt, nicht verdammen; Gott hat ihn ja aufgenommen.
4 Who art thou that judgest the servant of another? to his own lord he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be made to stand; for the Lord hath power to make him stand.
Wer bist denn du, daß du einen fremden Knecht richtest? Er steht und fällt nur seinem eigenen Herrn. Doch wird er stehen; denn der Herr hat Macht genug, ihn aufzurichten.
5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day [alike]. Let each man be fully assured in his own mind.
Und wieder einer macht einen Unterschied zwischen Tag und Tag; ein anderer nimmt alle Tage gleich. Jeder soll in seinem eigenen Innern voll überzeugt sein.
6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord: and he that eateth, eateth unto the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, unto the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
Wer den Tag beobachtet, beobachtet ihn für den Herrn; wer ißt, ißt für den Herrn; denn er dankt Gott. Und wer nicht ißt, der ißt nicht für den Herrn; denn er dankt Gott.
7 For none of us liveth to himself, and none dieth to himself.
Und überhaupt lebt keiner aus uns für sich selbst, und keiner stirbt für sich selbst;
8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; or whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.
sondern wenn wir leben, so leben wir für den Herrn, und wenn wir sterben, so sterben wir für den Herrn; wir mögen also leben oder sterben, wir sind des Herrn.
9 For to this end Christ died, and lived [again], that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.
ist Christus doch gerade deshalb gestorben und wieder lebendig geworden, damit er über Lebende und Tote herrsche.
10 But thou, why dost thou judge thy brother? or thou again, why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment-seat of God.
Warum richtest du deinen Bruder? Oder warum verachtest du deinen Bruder? Werden doch wir alle vor dem Richterstuhl Gottes stehen.
11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, to me every knee shall bow, And every tongue shall confess to God.
Es steht ja geschrieben: "'So wahr ich lebe', spricht der Herr, 'vor mir wird jedes Knie sich beugen, und jede Zunge wird Gott preisen.'" -
12 So then each one of us shall give account of himself to God.
So muß denn jeder aus uns für Sich selbst vor Gott Rechenschaft ablegen.
13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge ye this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock in his brother’s way, or an occasion of falling.
Darum wollen wir einander nicht mehr richten, sondern richtet eher darauf euer Augenmerk, daß ihr eurem Bruder nicht Anstoß gebt noch Ärgernis.
14 I know, and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself: save that to him who accounteth anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
Ich weiß und bin davon im Herrn Jesus überzeugt, daß an sich nichts unrein ist. Wenn aber einer meint, es sei etwas nicht rein, für den ist es dann unrein.
15 For if because of meat thy brother is grieved, thou walkest no longer in love. Destroy not with thy meat him for whom Christ died.
Fühlt sich daher dein Bruder durch dein Essen verletzt, so wandelst du nicht mehr der Liebe entsprechend. Bring durch dein Essen nicht den ins Verderben, für den Christus gestorben ist.
16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
Laßt euren Vorzug doch nicht zum Ärgernis werden.
17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Im Reiche Gottes handelt es sich nicht um Essen oder um Trinken, sondern um Gerechtigkeit, Friede und Freude im Heiligen Geiste.
18 For he that herein serveth Christ is well-pleasing to God, and approved of men.
Wer auf solche Weise Christus dient, der ist vor Gott wohlgefällig und anerkannt bei den Menschen.
19 So then let us follow after things which make for peace, and things whereby we may edify one another.
So laßt uns auf das sinnen, was dem Frieden und der gegenseitigem Erbauung dient.
20 Overthrow not for meat’s sake the work of God. All things indeed are clean; howbeit it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.
Vernichte doch nicht einer Speise wegen Gottes Werk. Es ist zwar alles rein, doch Sünde ist es dem, der durch sein Essen Anstoß gibt.
21 It is good not to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor [to do anything] whereby thy brother stumbleth.
Es ist auch recht, kein Fleisch zu essen und keinen Wein zu trinken noch sonst etwas zu tun, woran dein Bruder Anstoß nimmt oder Ärgernis nimmt oder schwach wird.
22 The faith which thou hast, have thou to thyself before God. Happy is he that judgeth not himself in that which he approveth.
Doch du behalte die Überzeugung, die du hast, für dich vor deinem Gott. Wohl dem, der sich bei seiner Entscheidung nicht selbst zu verdammen braucht.
23 But he that doubteth is condemned if he eat, because [he eateth] not of faith; and whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
Wer aber zweifelt und dann trotzdem ißt, ist schon gerichtet, weil er es nicht aus Glauben tut. Alles, was nicht aus Glauben kommt, ist Sünde.
