Psalms 85
1 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. LORD, Thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.
Au maître-chantre. — Des enfants de Coré. — Psaume. Éternel, tu avais accordé ta faveur à ton pays; Tu avais ramené les captifs de Jacob;
2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. (Selah)
Tu avais pardonné l'iniquité de ton peuple; Tu avais effacé tous leurs péchés. (Pause)
3 Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned [thyself] from the fierceness of thine anger.
Tu avais entièrement apaisé ton courroux; Tu étais revenu de l'ardeur de ta colère.
4 Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine indignation toward us to cease.
Relève-nous, ô Dieu de notre salut, Et fais cesser ton indignation contre nous!
5 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
Seras-tu toujours courroucé contre nous? Feras-tu durer ta colère éternellement?
6 Wilt thou not quicken us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
Ne reviendras-tu pas nous rendre la vie. Afin que ton peuple se réjouisse en toi?
7 Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.
Fais-nous contempler ta grâce, ô Éternel, Et accorde-nous ton salut!
8 I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
J'écouterai ce que dit le Dieu fort, l'Éternel; Car il parle de paix à son peuple et à ses bien-aimés. Toutefois, qu'ils ne retombent plus dans leur égarement!
9 Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.
Oui, son salut est près de ceux qui le craignent, Et la gloire de notre pays va refleurir.
10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
La bonté et la vérité se sont rencontrées; La justice et la paix se sont embrassées.
11 Truth springeth out of the earth; and righteousness hath looked down from heaven.
La vérité germera de la terre, Et la justice regardera du haut des cieux.
12 Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.
L'Éternel donnera ses biens. Et notre terre produira ses fruits.
13 Righteousness shall go before him; and shall make his footsteps a way [to walk in].
La justice marchera devant lui, Et elle suivra la trace de ses pas.
