Psalms 76

1 For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph, a Song. In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

V Judu je Bog poznan. Njegovo ime v Izraelu je veliko.

2 In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.

Tudi v Salemu je njegovo šotorsko svetišče in njegovo bivališče na Sionu.

3 There he brake the arrows of the bow; the shield, and the sword, and the battle. (Selah)

Tam je prelomil puščice loka, ščit, meč in bitko. (Sela)

4 Glorious art thou [and] excellent, from the mountains of prey.

Ti si veličastnejši in odličnejši kakor gore plena.

5 The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep; and none of the men of might have found their hands.

Arogantni so oplenjeni, spali so svoje spanje. Nihče izmed mogočnih mož ni našel svojih rok.

6 At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

Ob tvojem oštevanju, Bog Jakobov, sta tako bojni voz, kakor konj vržena v smrtno spanje.

7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

Ti, celó tebe se je bati in kdo lahko stoji v tvojem pogledu, kadar si jezen?

8 Thou didst cause sentence to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

Povzročil si, da se z neba sliši sodba; zemlja se je zbala in postala tiha,

9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. (Selah)

ko je k sodbi vstal Bog, da reši vse krotke na zemlji. (Sela)

10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the residue of wrath shalt thou gird upon thee.

Zagotovo te bo hvalil človeški bes. Ostanek besa boš ti obrzdal.

11 Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

Zaobljubi se in plačaj Gospodu, svojemu Bogu. Naj vsi tisti, ki so okoli njega, prinesejo darila tistemu, ki bi se ga morali bati.

12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

Odrezal bo duha princev. Strašen je do zemeljskih kraljev.
