Psalms 44
1 For the Chief Musician; [a Psalm] of the sons of Korah. Maschil. We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the days of old.
Por el jefe de los músicos. Por los hijos de Coré. Un salmo contemplativo. Hemos escuchado con nuestros oídos, Dios; nuestros padres nos han contado el trabajo que hicisteis en sus días, en los días de antaño.
2 Thou didst drive out the nations with thy hand, and plantedst them in; thou didst afflict the peoples, and didst spread them abroad.
Has expulsado a las naciones con tu mano, pero tú los plantaste. Has afligido a los pueblos, pero los difundes en el extranjero.
3 For they gat not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.
Porque no obtuvieron la tierra en posesión por su propia espada, ni su propio brazo los salvó; sino tu mano derecha, tu brazo y la luz de tu rostro, porque les fuiste favorable.
4 Thou art my King, O God: command deliverance for Jacob.
Dios, tú eres mi Rey. ¡Comando victorias para Jacob!
5 Through thee will we push down our adversaries: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.
A través de ti, derrotaremos a nuestros adversarios. Por tu nombre, aplastaremos a los que se levantan contra nosotros.
6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.
Porque no confiaré en mi arco, ni mi espada me salvará.
7 But thou hast saved us from our adversaries, and hast put them to shame that hate us.
Pero tú nos has salvado de nuestros adversarios, y han avergonzado a los que nos odian.
8 In God have we made our boast all the day long, and we will give thanks unto thy name for ever. (Selah)
En Dios nos hemos jactado todo el día. Daremos gracias a tu nombre por siempre. (Selah)
9 But now thou hast cast [us] off, and brought us to dishonour; and goest not forth with our hosts.
Pero ahora nos has rechazado y nos has deshonrado, y no salgan con nuestros ejércitos.
10 Thou makest us to turn back from the adversary: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.
Nos haces retroceder ante el adversario. Los que nos odian se apropian del botín.
11 Thou hast given us like sheep [appointed] for meat; and hast scattered us among the nations.
Nos has hecho como ovejas para comer, y nos han dispersado entre las naciones.
12 Thou sellest thy people for nought, and hast not increased [thy wealth] by their price.
Vendes a tu pueblo por nada, y no han ganado nada con su venta.
13 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
Nos conviertes en un reproche para nuestros vecinos, una burla y un escarnio a los que nos rodean.
14 Thou makest us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
Nos has convertido en un sinónimo entre las naciones, una sacudida de cabeza entre los pueblos.
15 All the day long is my dishonour before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,
Todo el día mi deshonra está ante mí, y la vergüenza cubre mi cara,
16 For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and the avenger.
ante la burla de quien reprocha y abusa verbalmente, por el enemigo y el vengador.
17 All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.
Todo esto se nos ha venido encima, pero no te hemos olvidado. No hemos sido falsos a su pacto.
18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;
Nuestro corazón no ha retrocedido, ni nuestros pasos se han desviado de tu camino,
19 That thou hast sore broken us in the place of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.
aunque nos hayas aplastado en la guarida de los chacales, y nos cubrió con la sombra de la muerte.
20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or spread forth our hands to a strange god;
Si hemos olvidado el nombre de nuestro Dios, o extender nuestras manos a un dios extraño,
21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
¿No buscará Dios esto? Porque él conoce los secretos del corazón.
22 Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.
Sí, por tu causa nos matan todo el día. Se nos considera como ovejas para el matadero.
23 Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast [us] not off for ever.
¡Despierta! ¿Por qué duermes, Señor? ¡Levántate! No nos rechaces para siempre.
24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?
¿Por qué ocultas tu rostro? ¿y olvidar nuestra aflicción y nuestra opresión?
25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.
Porque nuestra alma se inclina hacia el polvo. Nuestro cuerpo se aferra a la tierra.
26 Rise up for our help, and redeem us for thy lovingkindness’ sake.
Levántatepara ayudarnos. Redímenos por tu amorosa bondad.
