Psalms 36
1 For the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David the servant of the LORD. The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, There is no fear of God before his eyes.
Auf den Siegesspender, von des Herrn Knecht, von David. Mein Herz weiß einen Ausspruch über Schlechtigkeit von Frevlern: "Für Nichts gilt Gottesfurcht in seinen Augen.
2 For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, that his iniquity shall not be found out and be hated.
Denn er gefällt sich selbst, dieweil ihm hassenswerte Missetat gelingt.
3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise [and] to do good.
Sein Mund spricht Lug und Trug; auf Tugend und Vernunft verzichtet er.
4 He deviseth iniquity upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.
Auf Bosheit sinnt er noch auf seinem Lager, verweilt auf üblem Weg und scheut sich nicht vor Übeltat."
5 Thy lovingkindness, O LORD, is in the heavens; thy faithfulness [reacheth] unto the skies.
Herr, Deine Güte reicht bis in den Himmel, bis in die Wolken Deine Treue.
6 Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast.
Den höchsten Bergen gleich ist Deine Milde und die Gerechtigkeit bei Dir ist gleich der tiefsten Tiefe. Du hilfst selbst den vertierten Menschen, Herr.
7 How precious is thy lovingkindness, O God! and the children of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings.
Wie köstlich, Gott, ist Deine Gnade! In Deiner Flügel Schatten dürfen sich die Menschen bergen.
8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
Sie dürfen sich erlaben an der reichen Fülle Deines Hauses; und aus dem Borne Deiner Wonnen tränkst Du sie,
9 For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
bei Dir ist ja des Lebens Urquell, in Deinem Licht erblicken wir das Licht.
10 O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.
Laß Deine Liebe immer strömen über die, so Dich bekennen, und über die geraden Herzen Deine Milde!
11 Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
Nicht komme an mich her des Übermutes Fuß! Und nicht vertreibe mich des Frevlers Hand!
12 There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are thrust down, and shall not be able to rise.
Schon fallen sie, die Übeltäter; sie stürzen, kommen nimmer auf.
