Psalms 34
1 [A Psalm] of David; when he changed his behaviour before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed. I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psaume de David, sur ce qu'il changea son extérieur en la présence d'Abimélec, qui le chassa, et il s'en alla. [Aleph.] Je bénirai l'Eternel en tout temps, sa louange sera continuellement en ma bouche.
2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the meek shall hear thereof, and be glad.
[Beth.] Mon âme se glorifiera en l'Eternel; les débonnaires l'entendront, et s'en réjouiront.
3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
[Guimel.] Magnifiez l'Eternel avec moi, et exaltons son Nom tous ensemble.
4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.
[Daleth.] J'ai cherché l'Eternel, et il m'a répondu, et m'a délivré de toutes mes frayeurs.
5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces shall never be confounded.
[He. Vau.] L'a-t-on regardé? on en est illuminé, et leurs faces ne sont point confuses.
6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
[Zain.] Cet affligé a crié, et l'Eternel l'a exaucé, et l'a délivré de toutes ses détresses.
7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
[Heth.] L'Ange de l'Eternel se campe tout autour de ceux qui le craignent, et les garantit.
8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
[Teth.] Savourez, et voyez que l'Eternel est bon; ô que bienheureux est l'homme qui se confie en lui!
9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
[Jod.] Craignez l'Eternel vous ses Saints; car rien ne manque à ceux qui le craignent.
10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.
[Caph.] Les lionceaux ont disette, ils ont faim; mais ceux qui cherchent l'Eternel n'auront besoin d'aucun bien.
11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
[Lamed.] Venez, enfants, écoutez-moi; je vous enseignerai la crainte de l'Eternel.
12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth [many] days, that he may see good?
[Mem.] Qui est l'homme qui prenne plaisir à vivre, [et] qui aime la longue vie pour voir du bien?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
[Nun.] Garde ta langue de mal, et tes lèvres de parler avec tromperie.
14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
[Samech.] Détourne-toi du mal, et fais le bien; cherche la paix et la poursuis.
15 The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous, and his ears are [open] unto their cry.
[Hajin.] Les yeux de l'Eternel sont sur les justes, et ses oreilles sont attentives à leur cri.
16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
[Pe.] La face de l'Eternel est contre ceux qui font le mal, pour exterminer de la terre leur mémoire.
17 [The righteous] cried, and the LORD heard, and delivered them out of all their troubles.
[Tsade.] Quand les justes crient, l'Eternel les exauce, et il les délivre de toutes leurs détresses.
18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
[Koph.] L'Eternel [est] près de ceux qui ont le cœur déchiré [par la douleur], et il délivre ceux qui ont l'esprit abattu.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
[Res.] Le juste a des maux en grand nombre, mais l'Eternel le délivre de tous.
20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
[Scin.] Il garde tous ses os, [et] pas un n'en est cassé.
21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be condemned.
[Thau.] La malice fera mourir le méchant; et ceux qui haïssent le juste seront détruits.
22 The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be condemned.
[Pe.] L'Eternel rachète l'âme de ses serviteurs; et aucun de ceux qui se confient en lui, ne sera détruit.
