Psalms 2
1 Why do the nations rage, and the peoples imagine a vain thing?
Pourquoi les nations ont-elles. frémi, et les peuples médité des choses vaines?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, [saying],
Les rois de la terre se sont levés, et les princes se sont ligués contre le Seigneur et contre son Christ.
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
Rompons leurs liens, ont-ils dit, et rejetons loin de nous leur joug.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
Celui qui habite dans les cieux se rira d’eux, et le Seigneur se moquera d’eux.
5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure:
Alors il leur parlera dans sa colère, et dans sa fureur il les confondra.
6 Yet I have set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
Pour moi, j’ai été établi roi par lui sur Sion, sa montagne sainte, annonçant ses préceptes.
7 I will tell of the decree: the LORD said unto me, Thou art my son; this day have I begotten thee.
Le Seigneur m’a dit: Vous êtes mon Fils, c’est moi qui aujourd’hui vous ai engendré.
8 Ask of me, and I will give thee the nations for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Demandez-moi, et je vous donnerai les nations en héritage, et en possession les extrémités de la terre.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.
Vous les gouvernerez avec une verge de fer, et vous les briserez comme un vase de potier.
10 Now therefore be wise, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
Et maintenant, ô rois, comprenez; instruisez-vous, vous qui jugez la terre.
11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Servez le Seigneur dans la crainte, et réjouissez-vous en lui avec tremblement.
12 Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, for his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Embrassez la doctrine, de peur que quelque jour le Seigneur ne s’irrite, et que vous ne périssiez hors de la voie de la justice. Lorsque sa colère s’enflammera en un instant, heureux tous ceux qui se confient en lui.
