Psalms 2
1 Why do the nations rage, and the peoples imagine a vain thing?
Pourquoi se mutinent les nations, et pourquoi les peuples projettent-ils des choses vaines?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, [saying],
Les Rois de la terre se trouvent en personne, et les Princes consultent ensemble contre l'Eternel, et contre son Oint.
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
Rompons, [disent-ils], leurs liens, et jetons loin de nous leurs cordes.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
Celui qui habite dans les cieux se rira d'eux; le Seigneur s'en moquera.
5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure:
Alors il leur parlera en sa colère, et il les remplira de terreur par la grandeur de son courroux.
6 Yet I have set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
Et moi, [dira-t-il], j'ai sacré mon Roi sur Sion, la montagne de ma Sainteté.
7 I will tell of the decree: the LORD said unto me, Thou art my son; this day have I begotten thee.
Je vous réciterai quel a été ce sacre; l'Eternel m'a dit: tu es mon Fils, je t'ai aujourd'hui engendré.
8 Ask of me, and I will give thee the nations for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Demande-moi, et je te donnerai pour ton héritage les nations, et pour ta possession les bouts de la terre.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.
Tu les briseras avec un sceptre de fer, et tu les mettras en pièces comme un vaisseau de potier.
10 Now therefore be wise, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
Maintenant donc, ô Rois! ayez de l'intelligence; Juges de la terre, recevez instruction.
11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Servez l'Eternel avec crainte, et égayez-vous avec tremblement.
12 Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, for his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Baisez le Fils, de peur qu'il ne s'irrite, et que vous ne périssiez dans cette conduite, quand sa colère s'embrasera tant soit peu. Ô que bienheureux sont tous ceux qui se confient en lui!
