Proverbs 1
1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel:
Pregovori Salomona, Davidovega sina, Izraelovega kralja,
2 To know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding;
da bi spoznali modrost in poučevanje, da bi zaznali besede razumevanja,
3 To receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness and judgment and equity;
da bi sprejeli poučevanje modrosti, pravice, sodbe in nepristranskost;
4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion:
da bi dali premetenost preprostemu, mladeniču spoznanje in preudarnost.
5 That the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; and that the man of understanding may attain unto sound counsels:
Moder človek bo slišal in bo povečal učenje in razumen človek se bo dokopal k modrim nasvetom,
6 To understand a proverb, and a figure; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
da bo razumel pregovor in razlago, besede modrih in njihove temne izreke.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: [but] the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.
Strah Gospodov je začetek spoznanja, toda bedaki prezirajo modrost in poučevanje.
8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
Moj sin, prisluhni poučevanju svojega očeta in ne zapusti postave svoje matere,
9 For they shall be a chaplet of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
kajti ona bosta ornament milosti tvoji glavi in verižici okoli tvojega vratu.
10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
Moj sin, če te grešniki privabljajo, ne privoli.
11 If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause;
Če rečejo: »Pridi z nami, v zasedi prežimo na kri, brez razloga se tajno pritajimo za nedolžnega,
12 Let us swallow them up alive as Sheol, and whole, as those that go down into the pit; (Sheol h7585)
požrimo jih žive kakor grob in cele, kakor tiste, ki gredo dol v jamo. (Sheol h7585)
13 We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil;
Našli bomo vse dragoceno imetje, svoje hiše bomo napolnili z ukradenim blagom.
14 Thou shalt cast thy lot among us; we will all have one purse:
Svoj žreb vrzi med nas, vsi imejmo eno mošnjo.«
15 My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
Moj sin, ne hodi z njimi na pot, svoje stopalo zadrži pred njihovo stezo,
16 For their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed blood.
kajti njihova stopala tečejo k zlu in hitijo, da prelijejo kri.
17 For in vain is the net spread, in the eyes of any bird:
Zagotovo je zaman razprostrta mreža v očeh katerekoli ptice.
18 And these lay wait for their own blood, they lurk privily for their own lives.
In oni prežijo v zasedi na svojo lastno kri, tajno se pritajijo za svoja lastna življenja.
19 So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; it taketh away the life of the owners thereof.
Takšne so poti vsakega, ki je pohlepen dobička, ki odvzema življenje svojim lastnikom.
20 Wisdom crieth aloud in the street; she uttereth her voice in the broad places;
Modrost kliče zunaj, svoj glas izreka na ulicah,
21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse; at the entering in of the gates, in the city, she uttereth her words:
kliče na glavnem kraju vrveža, v odprtinah velikih vrat, v mestu izreka svoje besede, rekoč:
22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and scorners delight them in scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
»Doklej boste, vi topi, ljubili topost? In se posmehljivci razveseljevali v svojem posmehovanju in bedaki sovražili spoznanje?
23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
Obrnite se na moj opomin. Glejte, na vas bom izlila svojega duha, razglašala vam bom svoje besede.
24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
Ker sem klicala, pa ste odklonili, iztegovala sem svojo roko, pa noben človek ni upošteval,
25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
temveč ste zaničevali vse moje svetovanje in niste hoteli mojega opomina,
26 I also will laugh in [the day of] your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
se bom tudi jaz smejala ob vaši katastrofi, zasmehovala bom, ko pride vaš strah,
27 When your fear cometh as a storm, and your calamity cometh on as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish come upon you.
ko prihaja vaš strah kakor opustošenje in vaše uničenje kakor vrtinčast veter, ko nad vas prihajata tegoba in tesnoba.
28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me diligently, but they shall not find me:
Tedaj se bodo obračali name, toda ne bom jim odgovorila, iskali me bodo zgodaj, toda ne bodo me našli,
29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
ker so sovražili spoznanje in niso izbrali strahu Gospodovega.
30 They would none of my counsel; they despised all my reproof:
Ničesar niso hoteli od mojega nasveta. Prezirali so vsak moj opomin.
31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
Zato bodo jedli od sadu svoje lastne poti in napolnjeni bodo s svojimi lastnimi naklepi.
32 For the backsliding of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
Kajti odvračanje od preprostosti jih bo ubilo in uspevanje bedakov jih bo uničilo.
33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell securely, and shall be quiet without fear of evil.
Toda kdorkoli me posluša, bo varno prebival in bo miren pred strahom zla.«
