Proverbs 29
1 He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck shall suddenly be broken, and that without remedy.
El hombre que al ser reprendido es indómito, Será quebrantado de repente, Y no habrá para él medicina.
2 When the righteous are increased, the people rejoice: but when a wicked man beareth rule, the people sigh.
Cuando aumentan los justos, el pueblo se regocija. Cuando gobierna el impío, el pueblo gime.
3 Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots wasteth [his] substance.
El que ama la sabiduría, alegra a su padre, Pero el que se junta con prostitutas, destruye su riqueza.
4 The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that exacteth gifts overthroweth it.
Un rey justo estabiliza el país, Pero el que lo carga de impuestos lo destruye.
5 A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his steps.
El hombre que lisonjea a su prójimo Tiende una red a sus pasos.
6 In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
En la transgresión del hombre perverso hay trampa, Pero el justo cantará y se alegrará.
7 The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor: the wicked hath not understanding to know [it].
Preocupa al justo la causa de los pobres, Y el perverso no entiende esa preocupación.
8 Scornful men set a city in a flame: but wise men turn away wrath.
Los burladores agitan la ciudad, Pero los sabios aplacan la ira.
9 If a wise man hath a controversy with a foolish man, whether he be angry or laugh, there will be no rest.
Si un sabio contiende con un necio, Aunque se enoje éste o se ría, no tendrá reposo.
10 The bloodthirsty hate him that is perfect: and as for the upright, they seek his life.
Los hombres sanguinarios aborrecen al íntegro, Pero los rectos se preocupan por su vida.
11 A fool uttereth all his anger: but a wise man keepeth it back and stilleth it.
El necio da rienda suelta a su ira, Pero el sabio la reprime.
12 If a ruler hearkeneth to falsehood, all his servants are wicked.
Si el gobernante atiende a palabras mentirosas, Todos sus ministros serán perversos.
13 The poor man and the oppressor meet together: the LORD lighteneth the eyes of them both.
El pobre y el opresor tienen esto en común: A ambos Yavé les iluminó los ojos.
14 The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
Si el rey juzga a los pobres con verdad, Su trono será establecido para siempre.
15 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself causeth shame to his mother.
La vara y la reprensión dan sabiduría, Pero el muchacho consentido avergonzará a su madre.
16 When the wicked are increased, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall look upon their fall.
Cuando los perversos se multiplican, aumenta la transgresión, Pero los justos presenciarán la caída de ellos.
17 Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
Corrige a tu hijo y te dará descanso, Y dará satisfacciones a tu alma.
18 Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Donde no hay visión profética, el pueblo se desenfrena. Pero, ¡inmensamente feliz es el que guarda la Ley!
19 A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not give heed.
El esclavo no se corrige solo con palabras, Porque entiende, pero no hace caso.
20 Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
¿Has visto a un hombre precipitado en sus palabras? Más esperanza hay del necio que de él.
21 He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become a son at the last.
El que mima a un esclavo desde la niñez, Al final lo tendrá como un hijo.
22 An angry man stirreth up strife, and a wrathful man aboundeth in transgression.
El hombre iracundo levanta contiendas, Y el furioso comete muchas transgresiones.
23 A man’s pride shall bring him low: but he that is of a lowly spirit shall obtain honour.
La soberbia del hombre lo abate, Pero el de espíritu humilde recibirá honra.
24 Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth the adjuration and uttereth nothing.
El cómplice del ladrón aborrece su propia vida, Oye la maldición, pero no lo denuncia.
25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
El temor al hombre coloca una trampa, Pero el que confía en Yavé estará seguro.
26 Many seek the ruler’s favour: but a man’s judgment [cometh] from the LORD.
Muchos buscan el favor del gobernante, Pero la sentencia para el hombre viene de Yavé.
27 An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous: and he that is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.
El hombre inicuo es aborrecido por los justos, Y el de camino recto es aborrecido por los perversos.
