Proverbs 28

1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

۱ تعاقب کننده‌ای نیست، اما عادلان مثل شیر شجاعند.

2 For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by men of understanding [and] knowledge the state [thereof] shall be prolonged.

۲ از معصیت اهل زمین حاکمانش بسیارمی شوند، اما مرد فهیم و دانا استقامتش برقرارخواهد ماند.

3 A needy man that oppresseth the poor is [like] a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.

۳ مرد رئیس که بر مسکینان ظلم می‌کند مثل باران است که سیلان کرده، خوراک باقی نگذارد.

4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

۴ هر‌که شریعت را ترک می‌کند شریران رامی ستاید، اما هر‌که شریعت را نگاه دارد از ایشان نفرت دارد.

5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

۵ مردمان شریر انصاف را درک نمی نمایند، اماطالبان خداوند همه‌چیز را می‌فهمند.

6 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in [his] ways, though he be rich.

۶ فقیری که در کاملیت خود سلوک نماید بهتراست از کج رونده دو راه اگر‌چه دولتمند باشد.

7 Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of gluttonous men shameth his father.

۷ هر‌که شریعت را نگاه دارد پسری حکیم است، اما مصاحب مسرفان، پدر خویش را رسوامی سازد.

8 He that augmenteth his substance by usury and increase, gathereth it for him that hath pity on the poor.

۸ هر‌که مال خود را به ربا و سود بیفزاید، آن رابرای کسی‌که بر فقیران ترحم نماید، جمع می‌نماید.

9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

۹ هر‌که گوش خود را از شنیدن شریعت برگرداند، دعای او هم مکروه می‌شود.

10 Whoso causeth the upright to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the perfect shall inherit good.

۱۰ هر‌که راستان را به راه بد گمراه کند به حفره خود خواهد افتاد، اما صالحان نصیب نیکوخواهند یافت.

11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.

۱۱ مرد دولتمند در نظر خود حکیم است، امافقیر خردمند او را تفتیش خواهد نمود.

12 When the righteous triumph, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.

۱۲ چون عادلان شادمان شوند فخر عظیم است، اما چون شریران برافراشته شوند مردمان خود را مخفی می‌سازند.

13 He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall obtain mercy.

۱۳ هر‌که گناه خود را بپوشاند برخوردارنخواهد شد، اما هر‌که آن را اعتراف کند و ترک نماید رحمت خواهد یافت.

14 Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

۱۴ خوشابحال کسی‌که دائم می‌ترسد، اما هرکه دل خود را سخت سازد به بلا گرفتار خواهدشد.

15 [As] a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; [so is] a wicked ruler over a poor people.

۱۵ حاکم شریر بر قوم مسکین، مثل شیر غرنده و خرس گردنده است.

16 The prince that lacketh understanding is also a great oppressor: [but] he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.

۱۶ حاکم ناقص العقل بسیار ظلم می‌کند، اماهر‌که از رشوه نفرت کند عمر خود را درازخواهد ساخت.

17 A man that is laden with the blood of any person shall flee unto the pit; let no man stay him.

۱۷ کسی‌که متحمل بار خون شخصی شود، به هاویه می‌شتابد. زنهار کسی او را باز ندارد.

18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be delivered: but he that is perverse in [his] ways shall fall at once.

۱۸ هر‌که به استقامت سلوک نماید رستگارخواهد شد، اما هر‌که در دو راه کج رو باشد دریکی از آنها خواهد افتاد.

19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain [persons] shall have poverty enough.

۱۹ هر‌که زمین خود را زرع نماید از نان سیرخواهد شد، اما هر‌که پیروی باطلان کند از فقرسیر خواهد شد.

20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be unpunished.

۲۰ مرد امین برکت بسیار خواهد یافت، اماآنکه در‌پی دولت می‌شتابد بی‌سزا نخواهد ماند.

21 To have respect of persons is not good: neither that a man should transgress for a piece of bread.

۲۱ طرفداری نیکو نیست، و به جهت لقمه‌ای نان، آدمی خطاکار می‌شود.

22 He that hath an evil eye hasteth after riches, and knoweth not that want shall come upon him.

۲۲ مرد تنگ نظر در‌پی دولت می‌شتابد ونمی داند که نیازمندی او را درخواهد یافت.

23 He that rebuketh a man shall afterward find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.

۲۳ کسی‌که آدمی را تنبیه نماید، آخر شکرخواهد یافت، بیشتر از آنکه به زبان خودچاپلوسی می‌کند.

24 Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer.

۲۴ کسی‌که پدر و مادر خود را غارت نماید وگوید گناه نیست، مصاحب هلاک کنندگان خواهدشد.

25 He that is of a greedy spirit stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

۲۵ مرد حریص نزاع را برمی انگیزاند، اما هر‌که بر خداوند توکل نماید قوی خواهد شد.

26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

۲۶ آنکه بر دل خود توکل نماید احمق می‌باشد، اما کسی‌که به حکمت سلوک نمایدنجات خواهد یافت.

27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

۲۷ هر‌که به فقرا بذل نماید محتاج نخواهدشد، اما آنکه چشمان خود را بپوشاند لعنت بسیارخواهد یافت.

28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.

۲۸ وقتی که شریران برافراشته شوند مردم خویشتن را پنهان می‌کنند، اما چون ایشان هلاک شوند عادلان افزوده خواهند شد.
