Proverbs 27
1 Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
১কালকের বিষয়ে গর্ব কোরো না; কারণ এক দিন কি উপস্থিত করবে, তা তুমি জান না।
2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
২অন্য লোকে তোমার প্রশংসা করুক, তুমি নিজের মুখে কোরো না; অন্য লোকে করুক, তোমার নিজের ঠোঁট না করুক।
3 A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool’s vexation is heavier than them both.
৩পাথর ভারী ও বালিভারী, কিন্তু নির্বোধ লোকের রাগ ঐ দুটোর থেকেও ভারী।
4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before jealousy?
৪ক্রোধ নিষ্ঠুর ও রাগ বন্যার মত, কিন্তু ঈর্ষার কাছে কে দাঁড়াতে পারে?
5 Better is open rebuke than love that is hidden.
৫গোপন ভালবাসার থেকে প্রকাশ্যে তিরষ্কার ভালো।
6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend: but the kisses of an enemy are profuse.
৬বন্ধুর প্রহার বিশ্বস্ততাযুক্ত, কিন্তু শত্রুর চুম্বন অপরিমিত।
7 The full soul loatheth an honeycomb: but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
৭যে মৌচাক পায়ের নিচে দলিত করে; কিন্তু ক্ষুধার্তের কাছে তেতো জিনিস সব মিষ্টি।
8 As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.
৮যেমন বাসা থেকে ভ্রমণকারী পাখি, তেমনি নিজের জায়গা থেকে ভ্রমণকারী মানুষ।
9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man’s friend [that cometh] of hearty counsel.
৯সুগন্ধি তেল ও ধূপ হৃদয়কে আনন্দিত করে, কিন্তু বন্ধুর মিষ্টতা তার উপদেশের থেকে ভালো।
10 Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; and go not to thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
১০নিজের বন্ধুকে ও বাবার বন্ধুকে ছেড়ে দিও না; নিজের বিপদের দিন ভাইয়ের ঘরে যেও না; দূরের ভাইয়ের থেকে কাছের প্রতিবাসী ভাল।
11 My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.
১১আমার পুত্র, জ্ঞানবান হও; আমার হৃদয়কে আনন্দিত কর; তাতে যে আমাকে টিটকারি দেয়, তাকে উত্তর দিতে পারবো।
12 A prudent man seeth the evil, [and] hideth himself: [but] the simple pass on, [and] suffer for it.
১২সতর্ক লোক বিপদ দেখে নিজেকে লুকায়; কিন্তু নির্বোধ লোকেরা আগে গিয়ে দন্ড পায়।
13 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; and hold him in pledge [that is surety] for a strange woman.
১৩যে অপরের জামিন হয়, তার বস্ত্র নাও; যে বিজাতীয়ার জামিন হয়, তার কাছে বন্ধক নাও।
14 He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
১৪যে ভোরে উঠে উচ্চস্বরে নিজের বন্ধুকে আশীর্বাদ করে, তা তার পক্ষে অভিশাপরূপে ধরা হয়।
15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike:
১৫ভারী বৃষ্টির দিনের ক্রমাগত বৃষ্টিপাত, আর ঝগড়াটে স্ত্রী, এ উভয়ই এক।
16 He that would restrain her restraineth the wind, and his right hand encountereth oil.
১৬যে সেই স্ত্রীকে লুকায়, সে বাতাস লুকায় এবং তার ডান হাত তেল ধরে।
17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
১৭লৌহ লৌহকে সতেজ করে, তদ্রূপ মানুষ আপন মিত্রের মুখ সতেজ করে।
18 Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof; and he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
১৮যে ডুমুর গাছ রাখে, সে তার ফল খাবে; যে নিজের প্রভুর সেবা করে, সে সম্মানিত হবে।
19 As in water face [answereth] to face, so the heart of man to man.
১৯জলের মধ্যে যেমন মুখের প্রতিরূপ মুখ, তেমনি মানুষের প্রতিরূপ মানুষের হৃদয়।
২০পাতালের ও ধ্বংসের জায়গায় তৃপ্তি নেই, মানুষের অভিলাষা তৃপ্ত হয় না। (Sheol h7585)
21 The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, and a man is [tried] by his praise.
২১রূপার জন্য মূষী ও সোনার জন্য হাফর, আর মানুষ তার প্রশংসা দিয়ে পরীক্ষিত।
22 Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar with a pestle among bruised corn, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.
২২যখন উখলিতে গোমের মধ্যে মুগুর দিয়ে অজ্ঞানকে কোট, তখন তার অজ্ঞানতা দূর হবে না।
23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, [and] look well to thy herds:
২৩তুমি নিজের মেষপালের অবস্থা জেনে নাও, নিজের পশুপালে মনোযোগ দাও;
24 For riches are not for ever; and doth the crown endure unto all generations?
২৪কারণ ধন চিরস্থায়ী নয়, মুকুট কি পুরুষানুক্রমে থাকে?
25 The hay is carried, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and the herbs of the mountains are gathered in.
২৫ঘাস নিয়ে যাওয়ার পর নতুন ঘাস দেখা দেয় এবং পর্বত থেকে ওষধ সংগ্রহ করা যায়।
26 The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field:
২৬মেষ শাবকেরা তোমাকে কাপড় দেবে, ছাগলেরা জমির মূল্যের মত হবে;
27 And [there will be] goats’ milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household; and maintenance for thy maidens.
২৭তোমার খাবারের জন্য, তোমার পরিবারের খাবারের জন্য ছাগলেরা যথেষ্ট দুধ দেবে, তোমার যুবতী দাসীদের প্রতিপালন করবে।
