Proverbs 25
1 These also are proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.
Estes também são provérbios de Salomão, que os homens de Ezequias, rei de Judá, copiaram.
2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
It é a glória de Deus para esconder uma coisa, mas a glória dos reis é a de procurar um assunto.
3 The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.
Como os céus para a altura, e a terra para a profundidade, Assim, os corações dos reis são insondáveis.
4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there cometh forth a vessel for the finer:
Tirar a escória da prata, e o material sai para a refinaria.
5 Take away the wicked [from] before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
Tirar os ímpios da presença do rei, e seu trono será estabelecido em retidão.
6 Put not thyself forward in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:
Não se exalte na presença do rei, ou reivindicar um lugar entre os grandes homens;
7 For better is it that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince, whom thine eyes have seen.
pois é melhor que lhe digam: “Venha até aqui”. do que ser colocado mais baixo na presença do príncipe, que seus olhos já viram.
8 Go not forth hastily to strive, lest [thou know not] what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.
Não seja apressado em apresentar queixa em tribunal. O que você vai fazer no final quando seu vizinho o envergonhar?
9 Debate thy cause with thy neighbour [himself], and disclose not the secret of another:
Debate seu caso com seu vizinho, e não traia a confiança de outro,
10 Lest he that heareth it revile thee, and thine infamy turn not away.
para que quem o ouvir não o envergonhe, e sua má reputação nunca sai.
11 A word fitly spoken is [like] apples of gold in baskets of silver.
Uma palavra bem falada é como as maçãs de ouro em cenários de prata.
12 [As] an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, [so is] a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
Como um brinco de ouro e um ornamento de ouro fino, é um sábio reprovador para um ouvido obediente.
13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, [so is] a faithful messenger to them that send him; for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
Como o frio da neve na época da colheita, assim é um mensageiro fiel para aqueles que o enviam; pois ele refresca a alma de seus mestres.
14 [As] clouds and wind without rain, [so is] he that boasteth himself of his gifts falsely.
Como nuvens e vento sem chuva, assim é aquele que se vangloria de presentes de forma enganosa.
15 By long forbearing is a ruler persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
Pela paciência, um governante é persuadido. Uma língua macia quebra o osso.
16 Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee; lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
Você já encontrou mel? Coma o quanto for suficiente para você, para não comer demais e vomitá-lo.
17 Let thy foot be seldom in thy neighbour’s house; lest he be weary of thee, and hate thee.
Let seu pé raramente está na casa de seu vizinho, para que ele não se canse de você, e o odeie.
18 A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
Um homem que dá falso testemunho contra seu próximo é como um taco, uma espada ou uma flecha afiada.
19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is [like] a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
Confiança em alguém infiel em tempo de problemas é como um dente ruim ou um pé coxo.
20 [As] one that taketh off a garment in cold weather, [and as] vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
Como alguém que tira uma peça de vestuário em tempo frio, ou vinagre em refrigerante, assim é aquele que canta canções com o coração pesado.
21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
Se seu inimigo estiver com fome, dê-lhe comida para comer. Se ele estiver com sede, dê-lhe água para beber;
22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
para você amontoará brasas de fogo em sua cabeça, e Yahweh irá recompensá-lo.
23 The north wind bringeth forth rain: so doth a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.
O vento do norte produz chuva; por isso, uma língua de trás traz uma cara de raiva.
24 It is better to dwell in the comer of the housetop, than with a contentious woman in a wide house.
É melhor morar no canto do topo da casa do que compartilhar uma casa com uma mulher contenciosa.
25 [As] cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
Como água fria para uma alma sedenta, Assim são as boas notícias de um país distante.
26 [As] a troubled fountain, and a corrupted spring, [so is] a righteous man that giveth way before the wicked.
Como uma fonte de lama e um poço poluído, assim é um homem justo que cede diante dos ímpios.
27 It is not good to eat much honey: so [for men] to search out their own glory is [not] glory.
Não é bom comer muito mel, nem é uma honra buscar a própria honra.
28 He whose spirit is without restraint is [like] a city that is broken down and hath no wall.
Como uma cidade quebrada e sem muros é um homem cujo espírito é sem restrições.
