< Proverbs 2 >

1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and lay up my commandments with thee;
੧ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਰੱਖੇਂ,
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
੨ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਬੁੱਧ ਵੱਲ ਕੰਨ ਲਾਵੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਨ ਲਾਵੇਂ,
3 Yea, if thou cry after discernment, and lift up thy voice for understanding;
੩ਹਾਂ ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਵਿਵੇਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਲਈ ਜਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਪੁਕਾਰੇਂ,
4 If thou seek her as silver, and search for her as for hid treasures;
੪ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਕਰੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਪਤ ਧਨ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਕਰੇਂ,
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
੫ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਭੈਅ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ,
6 For the LORD giveth wisdom; out of his mouth [cometh] knowledge and understanding:
੬ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਬੁੱਧ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਹੀ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਓਸੇ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਨਿੱਕਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright, [he is] a shield to them that walk in integrity;
੭ਸਚਿਆਰਾਂ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਰੱਖ ਛੱਡਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਖਰਿਆਈ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਢਾਲ਼ ਹੈ,
8 That he may guard the paths of judgment, and preserve the way of his saints.
੮ਉਹ ਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness and judgment, and equity, [yea], every good path.
੯ਤਦ ਤੂੰ ਧਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਨੂੰ, ਸਗੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਭਲੇ ਰਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝੇਂਗਾ,
10 For wisdom shall enter into thine heart, and knowledge shall be pleasant unto thy soul;
੧੦ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਬੁੱਧ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗੇਗਾ।
11 Discretion shall watch over thee, understanding shall keep thee:
੧੧ਮੱਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰੇਗੀ,
12 To deliver thee from the way of evil, from the men that speak froward things;
੧੨ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬੁਰਿਆਂ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਖੋਟੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਡਾਉਣ,
13 Who forsake the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
੧੩ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸਚਿਆਈ ਦਿਆਂ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of evil;
੧੪ਜਿਹੜੇ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਅਨੰਦ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਦੇ ਖੋਟਿਆਂ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਮਨਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
15 Who are crooked in their ways, and perverse in their paths:
੧੫ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਟੇਡੇ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਲਾਂ ਵਿਗੜੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ,
16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
੧੬ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਾਈ ਔਰਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਉਣ, ਉਸ ਓਪਰੀ ਔਰਤ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਚਿਕਨੀਆਂ-ਚੋਪੜੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ,
17 Which forsaketh the friend of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God:
੧੭ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੁਆਨੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਹੈ,
18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead:
੧੮ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਢਲਾਣ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਮਰਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਲਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
19 None that go unto her return again, neither do they attain unto the paths of life:
੧੯ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਦਾ ਹੈ।
20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
੨੦ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਭਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਰੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਨੂੰ ਫੜੀ ਰੱਖੇਂਗਾ।
21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
੨੧ਸਚਿਆਰ ਹੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੱਸਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਖਰੇ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ,
22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the land, and they that deal treacherously shall be rooted out of it.
੨੨ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਵੱਢੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਧੋਖੇਬਾਜ਼ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਪੁੱਟੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
