Proverbs 19
1 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity than he that perverse in his lips and is a fool.
Melhor é o pobre que caminha em sua integridade do que aquele que é perverso em seus lábios e é um tolo.
2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
Não é bom ter zelo sem conhecimento, nem ser apressado com os pés e perder o caminho.
3 The foolishness of man subverteth his way; and his heart fretteth against the LORD.
A insensatez do homem subverte seu caminho; seu coração se enfurece contra Yahweh.
4 Wealth addeth many friends: but the poor is separated from his friend.
Wealth adiciona muitos amigos, mas os pobres estão separados de seu amigo.
5 A false witness shall not be unpunished; and he that uttereth lies shall not escape.
Uma falsa testemunha não ficará impune. Aquele que derrama mentiras não deve sair livre.
6 Many will entreat the favour of the liberal man: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
Muitos suplicarão o favor de um governante, e todos são amigos de um homem que dá presentes.
7 All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him! he pursueth [them with] words, [but] they are gone.
Todos os parentes dos pobres o evitam; quanto mais seus amigos o evitam! Ele os persegue com prazer, mas eles se foram.
8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
Aquele que adquire sabedoria ama sua própria alma. Aquele que mantém a compreensão deve encontrar o bem.
9 A false witness shall not be unpunished; and he that uttereth lies shall perish.
Uma falsa testemunha não ficará impune. Aquele que profere mentiras perecerá.
10 Delicate living is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
Delicate viver não é apropriado para um tolo, muito menos para que um servo tenha domínio sobre príncipes.
11 The discretion of a man maketh him slow to anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
A discrição de um homem o torna lento para a raiva. É sua glória ignorar uma ofensa.
12 The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
A ira do rei é como o rugido de um leão, mas seu favor é como o orvalho na grama.
13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
Um filho insensato é a calamidade de seu pai. As brigas de uma esposa são um gotejamento contínuo.
14 House and riches are an inheritance from fathers: but a prudent wife is from the LORD.
Casa e riquezas são uma herança dos pais, mas uma esposa prudente é de Yahweh.
15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and the idle soul shall suffer hunger.
Slothfulness entra em um sono profundo. A alma ociosa deve passar fome.
16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his soul: [but] he that is careless of his ways shall die.
He que mantém o mandamento mantém sua alma, mas aquele que for desdenhoso em seus caminhos morrerá.
17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD, and his good deed will he pay him again.
Aquele que tem piedade dos pobres empresta a Javé; ele irá recompensá-lo.
18 Chasten thy son, seeing there is hope; and set not thy heart on his destruction.
Discipline seu filho, pois há esperança; não seja uma parte disposta à sua morte.
19 A man of great wrath shall bear the penalty: for if thou deliver [him], thou must do it yet again.
Um homem de temperamento quente deve pagar a penalidade, pois, se você o resgatar, deverá fazê-lo novamente.
20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
Ouça o conselho e receba instruções, que você possa ser sábio em seu último fim.
21 There are many devices in a man’s heart; but the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
Há muitos planos no coração de um homem, mas o conselho de Yahweh prevalecerá.
22 The desire of a man is [the measure of] his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.
O que faz com que um homem seja desejado é sua bondade. Um homem pobre é melhor que um mentiroso.
23 The fear of the LORD [tendeth] to life: and he [that hath it] shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
O medo de Yahweh leva à vida, depois ao contentamento; ele descansa e não será tocado por problemas.
24 The sluggard burieth his hand in the dish, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
O preguiçoso enterra sua mão no prato; ele não o levará nem mesmo à boca novamente.
25 smite a scorner, and the simple will learn prudence: and reprove one that hath understanding, [and] he will understand knowledge.
Flog a scoffer, e o simples aprenderá a prudência; repreenda aquele que tem entendimento, e ele ganhará conhecimento.
26 He that spoileth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame and bringeth reproach.
Aquele que rouba seu pai e expulsa sua mãe é um filho que causa vergonha e traz censuras.
27 Cease, my son, to hear instruction [only] to err from the words of knowledge.
Se você parar de ouvir as instruções, meu filho, você se desviará das palavras do conhecimento.
28 A worthless witness mocketh at judgment: and the mouth of the wicked swalloweth iniquity.
Uma testemunha corrupta escarnece da justiça, e a boca do malvado engula a iniqüidade.
29 Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
Penalties estão preparados para os zombadores, e espancamentos para as costas dos tolos.
