Proverbs 19
1 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity than he that perverse in his lips and is a fool.
Melhor é o pobre que anda em sua honestidade do que o perverso de lábios e tolo.
2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
E não é bom a alma sem conhecimento; e quem tem pés apressados comete erros.
3 The foolishness of man subverteth his way; and his heart fretteth against the LORD.
A loucura do homem perverte seu caminho; e seu coração se ira contra o SENHOR.
4 Wealth addeth many friends: but the poor is separated from his friend.
A riqueza faz ganhar muitos amigos; mas ao pobre, até seu amigo o abandona.
5 A false witness shall not be unpunished; and he that uttereth lies shall not escape.
A falsa testemunha não ficará impune; e quem fala mentiras não escapará.
6 Many will entreat the favour of the liberal man: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
Muitos suplicam perante o príncipe; e todos querem ser amigos daquele que dá presentes.
7 All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him! he pursueth [them with] words, [but] they are gone.
Todos os irmãos do pobre o odeiam; ainda mais seus amigos se afastam dele; ele corre atrás deles com palavras, mas eles nada lhe [respondem].
8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
Quem adquire entendimento ama sua alma; quem guarda a prudência encontrará o bem.
9 A false witness shall not be unpunished; and he that uttereth lies shall perish.
A falsa testemunha não ficará impune; e quem fala mentiras perecerá.
10 Delicate living is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
O luxo não é adequado ao tolo; muito menos ao servo dominar sobre príncipes.
11 The discretion of a man maketh him slow to anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
A prudência do homem retém sua ira; e sua glória é ignorar a ofensa.
12 The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
A fúria do rei é como o rugido de um leão; mas seu favor é como orvalho sobre a erva.
13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
O filho tolo é uma desgraça ao seu pai; e brigas da esposa são [como] uma goteira duradoura.
14 House and riches are an inheritance from fathers: but a prudent wife is from the LORD.
A casa e as riquezas são a herança dos pais; porém a mulher prudente [vem] do SENHOR.
15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and the idle soul shall suffer hunger.
A preguiça faz cair num sono profundo; e a alma desocupada passará fome.
16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his soul: [but] he that is careless of his ways shall die.
Quem guarda o mandamento cuida de sua alma; e quem despreza seus caminhos morrerá.
17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD, and his good deed will he pay him again.
Quem faz misericórdia ao pobre empresta ao SENHOR; e ele lhe pagará sua recompensa.
18 Chasten thy son, seeing there is hope; and set not thy heart on his destruction.
Castiga a teu filho enquanto há esperança; mas não levantes tua alma para o matar.
19 A man of great wrath shall bear the penalty: for if thou deliver [him], thou must do it yet again.
Aquele que tem grande irá será punido; porque se tu [o] livrares, terás de fazer o mesmo de novo.
20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
Ouve o conselho, e recebe a disciplina; para que sejas sábio nos teus últimos [dias].
21 There are many devices in a man’s heart; but the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
Há muitos pensamentos no coração do homem; porém o conselho do SENHOR prevalecerá.
22 The desire of a man is [the measure of] his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.
O que se deseja do homem [é] sua bondade; porém o pobre é melhor do que o homem mentiroso.
23 The fear of the LORD [tendeth] to life: and he [that hath it] shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
O temor ao SENHOR [encaminha] para a vida; aquele que [o tem] habitará satisfeito, nem mal algum o visitará.
24 The sluggard burieth his hand in the dish, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
O preguiçoso põe sua mão no prato, e nem sequer a leva de volta à boca.
25 smite a scorner, and the simple will learn prudence: and reprove one that hath understanding, [and] he will understand knowledge.
Fere ao zombador, e o ingênuo será precavido; e repreende ao prudente, e ele aprenderá conhecimento.
26 He that spoileth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame and bringeth reproach.
Aquele que prejudica ao pai [ou] afugenta a mãe é filho causador de vergonha e de desgraça.
27 Cease, my son, to hear instruction [only] to err from the words of knowledge.
Filho meu, deixa de ouvir a instrução, [então] te desviarás das palavras de conhecimento.
28 A worthless witness mocketh at judgment: and the mouth of the wicked swalloweth iniquity.
A má testemunha escarnece do juízo; e a boca dos perversos engole injustiça.
29 Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
Julgamentos estão preparados para zombadores, e açoites para as costas dos tolos.
