< Numbers 2 >
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying:
2 The children of Israel shall pitch every man by his own standard, with the ensigns of their fathers’ houses: over against the tent of meeting shall they pitch round about.
All the children of Israel shall camp by their troops, ensigns, and standards, and the houses of their kindreds, round about the tabernacle of the covenant.
3 And those that pitch on the east side toward the sunrising shall be they of the standard of the camp of Judah, according to their hosts: and the prince of the children of Judah shall be Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
On the east Juda shall pitch his tents by the bands of his army: and the prince of his sons shall be Nahasson the son of Aminadab.
4 And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.
And the whole sum of the fighting men of his stock, were seventy-four thousand six hundred.
5 And those that pitch next unto him shall be the tribe of Issachar: and the prince of the children of Issachar shall be Nethanel the son of Zuar:
Next unto him they of the tribe of Issachar encamped, whose prince was Nathanael, the son of Suar.
6 and his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred:
And the whole number of his fighting men were fifty-four thousand four hundred.
7 [and] the tribe of Zebulun: and the prince of the children of Zebulun shall be Eliab the son of Helon:
In the tribe of Zabulon the prince was Eliab the son of Helon.
8 and his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.
And all the army of fighting men of his stock, were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.
9 All that were numbered of the camp of Judah were an hundred thousand and fourscore thousand and six thousand and four hundred, according to their hosts. They shall set forth first.
All that were numbered in the camp of Juda, were a hundred and eighty-six thousand four hundred: and they by their troops shall march first.
10 On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their hosts: and the prince of the children of Reuben shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur.
In the camp of the sons of Ruben, on the south side, the prince shall be Elisur the son of Sedeur:
11 And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.
And the whole army of his fighting men, that were numbered, were forty-six thousand five hundred.
12 And those that pitch next unto him shall be the tribe of Simeon: and the prince of the children of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai:
Beside him camped they of the tribe of Simeon: whose prince was Salamiel the son of Surisaddai.
13 and his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred:
And the whole army of his fighting men, that were numbered, were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.
14 and the tribe of Gad: and the prince of the children of Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of Reuel.
In the tribe of Gad the prince was Eliasaph the son of Duel.
15 And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty.
And the whole army of his fighting men that were numbered, were forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.
16 All that were numbered of the camp of Reuben were an hundred thousand and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fifty, according to their hosts. And they shall set forth second.
All that were reckoned up in the camp of Ruben, were a hundred and fifty-one thousand four hundred and fifty, by their troops: they shall march in the second place.
17 Then the tent of meeting shall set forward, with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps: as they encamp, so shall they set forward, every man in his place, by their standards.
And the tabernacle of the testimony shall be carried by the officers of the Levites and their troops. As it shall be set up, so shall it be taken down. Every one shall march according to their places, and ranks.
18 On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim according to their hosts: and the prince of the children of Ephraim shall be Elishama the son of Ammihud.
On the west side shall be the camp of the sons of Ephraim, whose prince was Elisama, the son of Ammiud.
19 And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty thousand and five hundred.
The whole army of his fighting men, that were numbered, were forty thousand five hundred.
20 And next unto him shall be the tribe of Manasseh: and the prince of the children of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur:
And with them the tribe of the sons of Manasses, whose prince was Gamaliel the son of Phadassur.
21 and his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred:
And the whole army of his fighting men, that were numbered, were thirty-two thousand two hundred.
22 and the tribe of Benjamin: and the prince of the children of Benjamin shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni:
In the tribe of the sons of Benjamin the prince was Abidan the son of Gedeon.
23 and his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred.
And the whole army of his fighting men, that were reckoned up, were thirty-five thousand four hundred.
24 All that were numbered of the camp of Ephraim were an hundred thousand and eight thousand and an hundred, according to their hosts. And they shall set forth third.
All that were numbered in the camp of Ephraim, were a hundred and eight thousand one hundred by their troops: they shall march in the third place.
25 On the north side shall be the standard of the camp of Dan according to their hosts: and the prince of the children of Dan shall be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
On the north side camped the sons of Dan: whose prince was Ahiezar the son of Ammisaddai.
26 And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.
The whole army of his fighting men, that were numbered, were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.
27 And those that pitch next unto him shall be the tribe of Asher: and the prince of the children of Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ochran:
Beside him they of the tribe of Aser pitched their tents: whose prince was Phegiel the son of Ochran.
28 and his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and one thousand and five hundred:
The whole army of his fighting men, that were numbered, were forty-one thousand five hundred.
29 and the tribe of Naphtali: and the prince of the children of Naphtali shall be Ahira the son of Enan:
Of the tribe of the sons of Nephtali the prince was Ahira the son of Enan.
30 and his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.
The whole army of his fighting men, were fifty-three thousand four hundred.
31 All that were numbered of the camp of Dan were an hundred thousand and fifty and seven thousand and six hundred. They shall set forth hindmost by their standards.
All that were numbered in the camp of Dan, were a hundred and fifty-seven thousand six hundred: and they shall march last.
32 These are they that were numbered of the children of Israel by their fathers’ houses: all that were numbered of the camps according to their hosts were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
This is the number of the children of Israel, of their army divided according to the houses of their kindreds and their troops, six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.
33 But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel; as the LORD commanded Moses.
And the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel: for so the Lord had commanded Moses.
34 Thus did the children of Israel; according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so they pitched by their standards, and so they set forward, every one by their families, according to their fathers’ houses.
And the children of Israel did according to all things that the Lord had commanded. They camped by their troops, and marched by the families and houses of their fathers.
