Nehemiah 5
1 Then there arose a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.
১তাৰ পাছত লোকসকলে আৰু তেওঁলোকৰ ভাৰ্য্যাসকলে তেওঁলোকৰ যিহুদী ভাই সকলৰ কাৰণে উচ্চ স্ৱৰে কান্দিলে।
2 For there were that said, We, our sons and our daughters, are many: let us get corn, that we may eat and live.
২তেওঁলোকৰ মাজৰ কিছুমানে ক’লে, “আমি আমাৰ ল’ৰা-ছোৱালীৰ সৈতে বহুতো আছোঁ। সেয়ে আমি খাই জীয়াই থাকিবলৈ আমাক শস্য লাগে।”
3 Some also there were that said, We are mortgaging our fields, and our vineyards, and our houses: let us get corn, because of the dearth.
৩তাত থকা কিছুলোকে ক’লে, “আমি আমাৰ পথাৰবোৰ, দ্ৰাক্ষাবাৰীবোৰ, আৰু আকালৰ সময়ত খাদ্যৰ বাবে আমাৰ ঘৰবোৰকো বন্ধক দিলোঁ।
4 There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king’s tribute [upon] our fields and our vineyards.
৪আন কিছুলোকে ক’লে, “আমি আমাৰ পথাৰ আৰু দ্ৰাক্ষাবাৰীবোৰৰ ৰাজহ-কৰ দিবলৈ ধন ধাৰে আনিলোঁ।
5 Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought into bondage [already]: neither is it in our power to help it; for other men have our fields and our vineyards.
৫যদিও আমাৰ শৰীৰৰ মাংস আৰু তেজ আমাৰ ভাইসকলৰ দৰেই একে, আৰু আমাৰ সন্তান সকলৰ দৰেই তেওঁলোকৰো সন্তান সকল একে। তথাপিও আমাৰ ল’ৰা-ছোৱালীক দাসত্বত বিক্রী কৰিবলৈ আমি বাধ্য। আমাৰ ছোৱালীসকলৰ মাজৰ কেইজনীমানক ইতিমধ্যে দাস কামৰ বাবে দিয়া হ’ল। কিন্তু এই ক্ষেত্রত সহায় কৰিবলৈ আমাৰ একো উপায় নাই, কাৰণ আমাৰ পথাৰ আৰু দ্ৰাক্ষাবাৰীবোৰ আন লোকৰ হ’ল।
6 And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.
৬মই যেতিয়া তেওঁলোকৰ কথা আৰু কাতৰোক্তি শুনিলোঁ, তেতিয়া মোৰ বৰ খং উঠিছিল।
7 Then I consulted with myself, and contended with the nobles and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother. And I held a great assembly against them.
৭তাৰ পাছত মই এই বিষয়ে চিন্তা কৰিলোঁ, আৰু প্ৰধান লোকসকল আৰু কৰ্মচাৰী সকলৰ বিৰুদ্ধে অভিযোগ আনিলোঁ। মই তেওঁলোকক ক’লো, “আপোনালোকে প্ৰতিজনে নিজৰ নিজৰ ভাইৰ পৰা সূত বেছিকৈ দাবী কৰি লৈছে।” মই তেওঁলোকৰ বিৰুদ্ধে মহাসভা পাতিলোঁ,
8 And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and would ye even sell your brethren, and should they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found never a word.
৮আৰু তেওঁলোকক ক’লোঁ, “দেশবোৰলৈ বিক্রী কৰা আমাৰ যিহুদীসকলক আমি সাধ্য অনুসাৰে মুকলি কৰি আনিলোঁ, কিন্তু তাৰ উপৰিও আপোনালোকে আপোনালোকৰ ভাই-ভনীসকলক বিক্রী কৰি আছে, সেই সকলক হয়তো আমালৈকে ঘূৰাই বিক্রী কৰিছে!” তাতে তেওঁলোক নিমাত হ’ল, আৰু একো উত্তৰ দিব নোৱাৰিলে।
9 Also I said, The thing that ye do is not good: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God, because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?
৯মই পুনৰ ক’লোঁ, “আপোনালোকে যি কৰি আছে সেয়া ভাল নহয়। আমাৰ দেশৰ শত্রুবোৰে আমাক নিন্দা কৰাটো নিষেধ কৰিবলৈ আপোনালোকে আমাৰ ঈশ্বৰলৈ ভয় ৰাখি চলা উচিত নহয় নে?
10 And I likewise, my brethren and my servants, do lend them money and corn on usury. I pray you, let us leave off this usury.
১০মই আৰু মোৰ ভাইসকলে, আৰু মোৰ দাসবোৰেও তেওঁলোকক ধন আৰু শস্য ধাৰে দিছোঁ। কিন্তু আমি এই ধাৰৰ সূত লোৱা ব্যৱস্থা বন্ধ কৰা উচিত।
11 Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their fields, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them.
১১তেওঁলোকৰ পথাৰ, দ্ৰাক্ষাবাৰী, জিত গছৰ বাৰী, ঘৰবোৰ, আৰু তেওঁলোকৰ পৰা আদায় কৰা ধন, শস্য, নতুন দ্ৰাক্ষাৰস আৰু তেল যিবোৰ আপোনালোকে দাবী কৰি লৈছিল সেই সকলো আজিয়েই তেওঁলোকক ওভটাই দিয়ক।”
12 Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do, even as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.
১২তেতিয়া তেওঁলোকে ক’লে, “আমি তেওঁলোকৰ পৰা যিবোৰ লৈছোঁ সেইবোৰ ওভটাই দিম, আৰু তেওঁলোকৰ পৰা একো নিবিচাৰোঁ। আপুনি কোৱাৰ দৰেই আমি কৰিম।” তাৰ পাছত মই পুৰোহিতসকলক মাতি আনিলোঁ, আৰু তেওঁলোকে কৰা প্রতিজ্ঞাৰ দৰে কৰিবলৈ তেওঁলোকক শপত খুৱালোঁ।
13 Also I shook out my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise; even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.
১৩মই মোৰ কাপোৰৰ ভাজ জোকাৰি ক’লো, “সেয়ে যি কোনোৱে এই প্রতিজ্ঞা পালন নকৰে, ঈশ্ৱৰে তেওঁক তেওঁৰ ঘৰৰ আৰু অধিকাৰৰ পৰা এইদৰেই জোকাৰি পেলাওক। সেয়ে তেওঁক জোকৰা হওক আৰু উদং কৰা হওক।” গোটেই সমাজে ক’লে, “আমেন,” আৰু তেওঁলোকে যিহোৱাৰ প্ৰশংসা কৰিলে। লোকসকলে তেওঁলোকে কৰা প্রতিজ্ঞাৰ দৰেই কাৰ্য কৰিলে।
14 Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, [that is], twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.
১৪সেয়ে সেই সময়ৰ পৰা মই যিহূদা দেশত ৰজা অৰ্তক্ষত্ৰ ৰাজত্ব কালৰ বিশ বছৰৰ পৰা বত্ৰিশ বছৰলৈকে তেওঁলোকৰ দেশাধ্যক্ষ নিযুক্ত হৈছিলোঁ। নহয় মই নাইবা মোৰ ভাইসকলে এই বাৰ বছৰ দেশাধ্যক্ষৰ বাবে যোগান ধৰা আহাৰ খোৱা নাছিলোঁ।
15 But the former governors that were before me were chargeable unto the people, and took of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.
১৫কিন্তু পূৰ্বতে থকা দেশাধ্যক্ষসকল যিসকল মোৰ আগতে আছিল, তেওঁলোকে লোকসকলৰ ওপৰত গধুৰ বোজা দিছিল, আৰু তেওঁলোকৰ দৈনিক খোৱা বস্তু আৰু দ্ৰাক্ষাৰস বাবে লোকসকলৰ পৰা তেওঁলোকে চল্লিশ চেকল ৰূপ লৈছিল। তাৰ উপৰিও তেওঁলোকৰ দাস সকলে লোকসকলৰ ওপৰত অত্যাচাৰ কৰিছিল। কিন্তু মই সেইদৰে কৰা নাই, কাৰণ মই ঈশ্বৰলৈ ভয় কৰোঁ।
16 Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered thither unto the work.
১৬মই দেৱালৰ কামো একেৰাহে কৰি আছিলোঁ, আৰু আমি মাটি কিনা নাছিলোঁ। মোৰ সকলো দাস সকলে কামৰ বাবে সেই ঠাইলৈ আহি গোট খালে।
17 Moreover there were at my table of the Jews and the rulers an hundred and fifty men, beside those that came unto us from among the heathen that were round about us.
১৭আমাৰ চাৰিওফালে থকা দেশৰ মাজৰ পৰা যি সকল লোক আমাৰ ওচৰলৈ আহিছিল, তেওঁলোকৰ উপৰিও মোৰ মেজত বহা যিহুদী আৰু কৰ্মচাৰী লোকসকল সৰ্ব্বমুঠ এশ পঞ্চাশ জন আছিল।
18 Now that which was prepared for one day was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this I demanded not the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.
১৮সেই সময়ত প্ৰতিদিনেই এটা ষাঁড়-গৰু, ছটা উত্তম মেৰ-ছাগ, আৰু চৰাইবোৰো প্রস্তুত কৰা হৈছিল, আৰু প্রতি দহ দিনত সকলো বিধৰ দ্ৰাক্ষাৰস অধিক পৰিমাণে যুগুত কৰা হৈছিল। তথাপিও এই সকলোৰ বাবে মই দেশাধ্যক্ষৰ আহাৰৰ খৰছ দাবী কৰা নাছিলোঁ, কাৰণ লোকসকলৰ বাবে এই দাবী অসুবিধাজনক হ’লহেঁতেন।
19 Remember unto me, O my God, for good, all that I have done for this people.
১৯হে মোৰ ঈশ্বৰ, এই লোকসকলৰ অৰ্থে মই যিবোৰ কাম কৰিলোঁ, তাৰ বাবে মোক সোঁৱৰণ কৰক।
