< Nehemiah 4 >
1 But it came to pass that, when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
Hateiteh, hettelah ao. Sanballat ni rapan pathoupnae akong a thai toteh, puenghoi a lungkhuek teh Judahnaw hah a dudam.
2 And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish, seeing they are burned?
A hmaunawnghanaw hoi Samaria ransanaw e hmalah lawk a dei teh, hate Judahnaw a tha kaawm hoehnaw ni bangmaw a sak thai awh han vai. Khopui bout kangdue sak hane maw a noe awh vai, thuengnae bout sak hanelah vaimoe ka kang tangcoung e talungnaw songnawng um e rasa vaiteh bout pathoup awh han vaimoe telah a dei pouh.
3 Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall break down their stone wall.
4 Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn back their reproach upon their own head, and give them up to spoiling in a land of captivity:
Oe ka Cathut na khenhaw! dudam e tami lah ka o awh. Kaimouh na pathoe e naw amamae lû dawk bawt naseh. Ahnimouh hai alouke ram buetbuet touh dawk yeiraipo van seh.
5 and cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked [thee] to anger before the builders.
Lawkkamnae hah ramuk pouh hanh. A yonnae teh na hmalah roum sak hanh.
6 So we built the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto half [the height] thereof: for the people had a mind to work.
Ka pathoup e taminaw teh a lungmanae a len dawkvah, khopui a tengpam hoi khopui rapan rasang tangawn totouh ka pacoung awh.
7 But it came to pass that, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem went forward, [and] that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth;
Hat navah, Sanballat hoi Tobiah hoi Arab taminaw, Ammonnaw hoi Asdodnaw ni Jerusalem rapan te pou a pathoup awh tie kong a thai awh navah, puenghoi a lungkhuek awh.
8 and they conspired all of them together to come and fight against Jerusalem, and to cause confusion therein.
Hahoi teh, Jerusalem tarantuk hane hoi runae poe hanelah a kâcai awh.
9 But we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
10 And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.
Judahnaw ni thaw katawkkungnaw teh a tâwn poung awh toe. Songnawngnaw hai apap poung, rapan pathoup thai mahoeh toe ati awh.
11 And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come into the midst of them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.
Tarannaw ni hai ahnimanaw kâhruetcuet awh hoeh nah cei awh vaiteh, thawnaw raphoe pouh sei ati awh.
12 And it came to pass that, when the Jews which dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times from all places, Ye must return unto us.
Ahnimae ateng kaawm e Judahnaw ni, tarannaw teh onae alouklouk lahoi tho awh vaiteh nangmouh na tuk awh han toe telah boutbout a dei awh.
13 Therefore set I in the lowest parts of the space behind the wall, In the open places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
Hatdawkvah, rapan e a hnukkhu lah, ka rahnoum e hmuen kathounge, hmuen dawk tahloi, tahroe, licung ka sin e taminaw hah a miphun lahoi thaw ka poe.
14 And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your houses.
Ka thaw teh ka khet. Bawinaw, lawkcengkungnaw hoi alouke taminaw ka kaw teh, tarannaw taket awh hanh, kalenpounge hoi takikatho poung e Cathut pahnim laipalah, hmaunawnghanaw, canunaw, yunaw hoi imnaw karoumcalah o thai nahan tawk awh ka ti pouh.
15 And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.
Tarannaw ni a noe awh e naw hah Cathut ni a raphoe pouh tie na panue sak e ka panue awh toteh, rapan pathoup hanelah mae hmuen koe lengkaleng ka ban awh teh ka tawk awh.
16 And it came to pass from that time forth, that half of my servants wrought in the work, and half of them held the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the coats of mail; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.
Hahoi teh, tangawn ni thaw a tawk awh, tangawn ni tahroe bahling, sumangkinaw a patuep awh. Hahoi lawkcengkungnaw teh Judah imthung e a hnuklah ao awh.
17 They that builded the wall and they that bare burdens laded themselves, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other held his weapon;
Rapan pathoup nahanlah hno kaphawtnaw ni hai kutvang hoi thaw tawk awh teh, kutvang hoi senehmaica a patuep awh.
18 and the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so builded. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me.
Kapathoupkungnaw ni tahloi hah a keng dawk a neng laihoi a tawk awh. Mongka kauengnaw teh ka teng vah, a kangdue awh.
19 And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another:
Thaw a len poung teh akawpoung dawkvah, rapan e a van vah buet touh hoi buet touh kâhlat poung lah ka tawk awh.
20 in what place soever ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us; our God shall fight for us.
21 So we wrought in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared.
Hottelah thaw teh ka tawk awh. tami tangawn ni khodai hoi e tangmin Âsi kamnue totouh senehmaica a patuep awh.
22 Likewise at the same time said I unto the people, Let every one with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and may labour in the day.
Hahoi kai ni, taminaw pueng tangmin teh Jerusalem kho thung vah ip awh. Khodai vah thaw tawk awh vaiteh, karum vah kâletta lahoi ramveng ratawng awh han telah taminaw koe ka dei pouh.
23 So neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard which followed me, none of us put off our clothes, every one [went with] his weapon [to] the water.
Hahoi, ka nawnghanaw thoseh, ka sannaw thoseh, ka hnukkâbangnaw thoseh, amamae khohna rading laipalah, ka o awh.
