Nahum 1
1 The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
Đây là sách khải tượng của Na-hum ở Ên-cốc viết về sự đoán phạt Ni-ni-ve.
2 The LORD is a jealous God and avengeth; the LORD avengeth and is full of wrath; the LORD taketh vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth [wrath] for his enemies.
Chúa Hằng Hữu là Đức Chúa Trời kỵ tà và báo trả xứng đáng. Ngài báo trả người chống nghịch và trút cơn thịnh nộ trên kẻ thù!
3 The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will by no means clear [the guilty]: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
Chúa Hằng Hữu chậm giận, nhưng có sức mạnh vĩ đại, và Ngài không bao giờ coi tội nhân là vô tội. Chúa đi giữa gió lốc và bão tố. Các đám mây là bụi dưới chân Ngài.
4 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
Ngài quở biển thì nó khô đi, Ngài khiến các dòng sông đều cạn tắt. Đồng ruộng xanh tươi của Ba-san và Cát-mên đều tàn héo, rừng hoa Li-ban cũng úa tàn.
5 The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt; and the earth is upheaved at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.
Trước mặt Chúa, các núi rúng động, và các đồi tan chảy; mặt đất dậy lên, và dân cư trên đất đều bị tiêu diệt.
6 Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken asunder by him.
Trước cơn thịnh nộ Ngài, ai còn đứng vững? Ai chịu nổi sức nóng của cơn giận Ngài? Sự thịnh nộ Ngài đổ ra như lửa; Ngài đập các vầng đá vỡ tan.
7 The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that put their trust in him.
Chúa Hằng Hữu thật tốt lành, Ngài là nơi trú ẩn vững vàng lúc hoạn nạn. Ngài gần gũi những người tin cậy Ngài.
8 But with an overrunning flood he will make a full end of the place thereof, and will pursue his enemies into darkness.
Nhưng đối với người nghịch thù, Ngài sẽ giáng lụt lội tràn lan quét sạch chỗ họ ở và rượt đuổi họ vào bóng tối.
9 What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make a full end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.
Tại sao các ngươi âm mưu chống lại Chúa Hằng Hữu? Chúa sẽ tận diệt ngươi chỉ trong một trận; không cần đến trận thứ hai!
10 For though they be like tangled thorns, told be drenched as it were in their drink, they shall be devoured utterly as dry stubble.
Vì chúng vướng vào gai nhọn, say sưa như lũ nghiện rượu, nên sẽ bị thiêu hủy như rơm khô.
11 There is one gone forth out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, that counselleth wickedness.
Từ trong ngươi sẽ xuất hiện một người âm mưu chống lại Chúa Hằng Hữu và bày mưu gian ác.
12 Thus saith the LORD: Though they be in full strength, and likewise many, even so shall they be cut down, and he shall pass away. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.
Nhưng Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: “Dù người A-sy-ri cường bạo và đông đảo đến đâu cũng sẽ bị đánh tan và tiêu diệt hoàn toàn. Hỡi dân Ta, Ta đã hình phạt các con trước đó, Ta sẽ không hình phạt các con nữa.
13 And now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.
Bây giờ, Ta sẽ đập tan gông cùm xiềng xích và giải thoát các con khỏi ách nô lệ.”
14 And the LORD hath given commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image; I will make thy grave; for thou art vile.
Đây là điều Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo về người A-sy-ri tại Ni-ni-ve: “Ngươi sẽ không có con cháu lên ngôi kế vị. Ta sẽ tiêu diệt các thần, các tượng chạm và tượng đúc của ngươi. Ta sẽ chôn ngươi vào huyệt mả vì tội lỗi ngươi thật kinh tởm!”
15 Behold, upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! Keep thy feasts, O Judah, perform thy vows: for the wicked one shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
Kìa! Sứ giả đến từ núi đồi báo tin mừng! Sứ giả công bố sự bình an. Hỡi Giu-đa, hãy cử hành các thánh lễ, và hoàn thành lời hứa nguyện, vì kẻ thù gian ác sẽ không còn đến xâm lăng ngươi nữa. Nó đã bị tiêu diệt hoàn toàn!
