Matthew 20
1 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.
„Hasonló a mennyek országa a gazdához, aki korán reggel kiment, hogy munkásokat fogadjon szőlőjébe.
2 And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
Megegyezett a munkásokkal napi tíz pénzben, és elküldte őket szőlőjébe.
3 And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing in the marketplace idle;
Amikor kiment három óra tájban, látott másokat is, akik tétlenül a piacon álltak.
4 and to them he said, Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.
Ezt mondta nekik: Menjetek el ti is a szőlőbe, és ami igazságos, megadom nektek.
5 Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise.
Azok pedig elmentek. Hat és kilenc óra tájban ismét kiment, és ugyanúgy cselekedett.
6 And about the eleventh [hour] he went out, and found others standing; and he saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
Tizenegy óra tájban is kiment, és talált másokat, akik tétlenül álltak ott, és megkérdezte tőlük: Miért álltok itt egész napon át tétlenül?
7 They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard.
Azok így feleltek: Mert senki sem fogadott fel minket. Erre ezt mondta nekik: Menjetek el ti is a szőlőbe, és ami igazságos megkapjátok.
8 And when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and pay them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.
Mikor beesteledett, a szőlőnek ura ezt mondta vincellérjének: Hívd elő a munkásokat, és add ki nekik a bért, az utolsóktól kezdve mind az elsőkig.
9 And when they came that [were hired] about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.
És jöttek a tizenegy órások, fejenként tíz-tíz pénzt kaptak.
10 And when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received every man a penny.
Jöttek azután az elsők, és azt gondolták, hogy ők többet kapnak, de ők is tíz-tíz pénz kaptak fejenként.
11 And when they received it, they murmured against the householder,
Amint pedig fölvették, zúgolódni kezdtek a házigazda ellen,
12 saying, These last have spent [but] one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.
és ezt mondták: Azok az utolsók egyetlen óráig dolgoztak, és egyenlővé tetted őket velünk, akik a napnak terhét és hőségét szenvedtük.
13 But he answered and said to one of them, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?
Ő pedig így felelt közülük egynek: Barátom, nem cselekszem igazságtalanul veled: Vagy nem tíz pénzben szerződtél velem?
14 Take up that which is thine, and go thy way; it is my will to give unto this last, even as unto thee.
Vedd, ami a tiéd, és menj el. Én pedig ennek az utolsónak is annyit akarok adni, mint neked.
15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? or is thine eye evil, because I am good?
Talán nem szabad nekem a magaméval azt tennem, amit akarok? Vagy a te szemed azért gonosz, mert én jó vagyok?
16 So the last shall be first, and the first last.
Ekképpen lesznek az utolsók elsők és az elsők utolsók; mert sokan vannak a hivatalosak, de kevesen a választottak.“
17 And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples apart, and in the way he said unto them,
Amikor felment Jézus Jeruzsálembe, útközben csupán a tizenkét tanítványt vette magához, és ezt mondta nekik:
18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests and scribes; and they shall condemn him to death,
„Íme, felmegyünk Jeruzsálembe, és az Emberfia átadatik a főpapoknak és írástudóknak, és halálra ítélik őt.
19 and shall deliver him unto the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify: and the third day he shall be raised up.
A pogányok kezébe adják, hogy megcsúfolják, megostorozzák, és keresztre feszítsék, de harmadnapon feltámad.“
20 Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her sons, worshipping [him], and asking a certain thing of him.
Ekkor hozzáment a Zebedeus fiainak anyja fiaival együtt, leborult előtte, hogy kérjen tőle valamit.
21 And he said unto her, What wouldest thou? She saith unto him, Command that these my two sons may sit, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left hand, in thy kingdom.
Ő pedig megkérdezte tőle: „Mit akarsz?“Ő ezt mondta neki: „Mondd, hogy az én két fiam üljön a te országodban: egyik jobb kezed felől, a másik bal kezed felől.“
22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink the cup that I am about to drink? They say unto him, We are able.
Jézus pedig ezt felelte neki: „Nem tudjátok, mit kértek. Megisszátok-e a poharat, melyet én iszom? És megkeresztelkedtek-e azzal a keresztséggel, amellyel én megkeresztelkedem?“Azt mondták neki: „Meg.“
23 He saith unto them, My cup indeed ye shall drink: but to sit on my right hand, and on [my] left hand, is not mine to give, but [it is for them] for whom it hath been prepared of my Father.
Erre ő azt mondta nekik: „Az én poharamat megisszátok ugyan, és a keresztséggel, amellyel én megkeresztelkedem, megkeresztelkedtek, de az én jobb és bal kezem felől való ülést nem az én dolgom megadni, hanem azoké lesz az, akiknek az én Atyám elkészítette.“
24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation concerning the two brethren.
Amikor ezt meghallotta a többi tíz, bosszankodtak a két testvérre.
25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.
Jézus pedig előszólította őket, és ezt mondta: „Tudjátok, hogy a pogányok fejedelmei uralkodnak szolgáikon, és a nagyok hatalmaskodnak rajtuk.
26 Not so shall it be among you: but whosoever would become great among you shall be your minister;
De ne így legyen közöttetek, hanem aki közöttetek nagy akar lenni, legyen a ti szolgátok,
27 and whosoever would be first among you shall be your servant:
és aki közöttetek első akar lenni, legyen a ti szolgátok.
28 even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Amint az Emberfia sem azért jött, hogy neki szolgáljanak, hanem, hogy ő szolgáljon, és adja az ő életét váltságul sokakért.“
29 And as they went out from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.
Amikor Jerikóból távoztak, nagy sokaság követte őt.
30 And behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, Lord, have mercy on us, thou son of David.
És íme, két vak, aki az út mellett ült, meghallva, hogy Jézus arra megy el, elkezdett kiáltozni: „Uram, Dávidnak Fia, könyörülj rajtunk!“
31 And the multitude rebuked them, that they should hold their peace: but they cried out the more, saying, Lord, have mercy on us, thou son of David.
A sokaság pedig megdorgálta őket, hogy hallgassanak, de azok annál jobban kiáltoztak: „Uram, Dávidnak Fia, könyörülj rajtunk!“
32 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I should do unto you?
Jézus pedig megállt, és megszólította őket, és ezt kérdezte: „Mit akartok, hogy cselekedjem veletek?“
33 They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
Ők így feleltek neki: „Azt, Uram, hogy megnyíljanak szemeink.“
34 And Jesus, being moved with compassion, touched their eyes: and straightway they received their sight, and followed him.
Jézus pedig megszánta őket, megérintette szemeiket, és szemeik azonnal megnyíltak, és követték őt.
