Luke 14
1 And it came to pass, when he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a sabbath to eat bread, that they were watching him.
அநந்தரம்’ விஸ்²ராமவாரே யீஸௌ² ப்ரதா⁴நஸ்ய பி²ரூஸி²நோ க்³ரு’ஹே போ⁴க்தும்’ க³தவதி தே தம்’ வீக்ஷிதும் ஆரேபி⁴ரே|
2 And behold, there was before him a certain man which had the dropsy.
ததா³ ஜலோத³ரீ தஸ்ய ஸம்முகே² ஸ்தி²த: |
3 And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath, or not?
தத: ஸ வ்யவஸ்தா²பகாந் பி²ரூஸி²நஸ்²ச பப்ரச்ச², விஸ்²ராமவாரே ஸ்வாஸ்த்²யம்’ கர்த்தவ்யம்’ ந வா? ததஸ்தே கிமபி ந ப்ரத்யூசு: |
4 But they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go.
ததா³ ஸ தம்’ ரோகி³ணம்’ ஸ்வஸ்த²ம்’ க்ரு’த்வா விஸஸர்ஜ;
5 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a well, and will not straightway draw him up on a sabbath day?
தாநுவாச ச யுஷ்மாகம்’ கஸ்யசித்³ க³ர்த்³த³போ⁴ வ்ரு’ஷபோ⁴ வா சேத்³ க³ர்த்தே பததி தர்ஹி விஸ்²ராமவாரே தத்க்ஷணம்’ ஸ கிம்’ தம்’ நோத்தா²பயிஷ்யதி?
6 And they could not answer again unto these things.
ததஸ்தே கதா²யா ஏதஸ்யா: கிமபி ப்ரதிவக்தும்’ ந ஸே²கு: |
7 And he spake a parable unto those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief seats; saying unto them,
அபரஞ்ச ப்ரதா⁴நஸ்தா²நமநோநீதத்வகரணம்’ விலோக்ய ஸ நிமந்த்ரிதாந் ஏதது³பதே³ஸ²கதா²ம்’ ஜகா³த³,
8 When thou art bidden of any man to a marriage feast, sit not down in the chief seat; lest haply a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him,
த்வம்’ விவாஹாதி³போ⁴ஜ்யேஷு நிமந்த்ரித: ஸந் ப்ரதா⁴நஸ்தா²நே மோபாவேக்ஷீ: | த்வத்தோ கௌ³ரவாந்விதநிமந்த்ரிதஜந ஆயாதே
9 and he that bade thee and him shall come and say to thee, Give this man place; and then thou shalt begin with shame to take the lowest place.
நிமந்த்ரயிதாக³த்ய மநுஷ்யாயைதஸ்மை ஸ்தா²நம்’ தே³ஹீதி வாக்யம்’ சேத்³ வக்ஷ்யதி தர்ஹி த்வம்’ ஸங்குசிதோ பூ⁴த்வா ஸ்தா²ந இதரஸ்மிந் உபவேஷ்டும் உத்³யம்’ஸ்யஸி|
10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest place; that when he that hath bidden thee cometh, he may say to thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have glory in the presence of all that sit at meat with thee.
அஸ்மாத் காரணாதே³வ த்வம்’ நிமந்த்ரிதோ க³த்வா(அ)ப்ரதா⁴நஸ்தா²ந உபவிஸ², ததோ நிமந்த்ரயிதாக³த்ய வதி³ஷ்யதி, ஹே ப³ந்தோ⁴ ப்ரோச்சஸ்தா²நம்’ க³த்வோபவிஸ², ததா² ஸதி போ⁴ஜநோபவிஷ்டாநாம்’ ஸகலாநாம்’ ஸாக்ஷாத் த்வம்’ மாந்யோ ப⁴விஷ்யஸி|
11 For every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
ய: கஸ்²சித் ஸ்வமுந்நமயதி ஸ நமயிஷ்யதே, கிந்து ய: கஸ்²சித் ஸ்வம்’ நமயதி ஸ உந்நமயிஷ்யதே|
12 And he said to him also that had bidden him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, nor thy kinsmen, nor rich neighbours; lest haply they also bid thee again, and a recompense be made thee.
ததா³ ஸ நிமந்த்ரயிதாரம்’ ஜநமபி ஜகா³த³, மத்⁴யாஹ்நே ராத்ரௌ வா போ⁴ஜ்யே க்ரு’தே நிஜப³ந்து⁴க³ணோ வா ப்⁴ராத்ரு’க³ணோ வா ஜ்ஞாதிக³ணோ வா த⁴நிக³ணோ வா ஸமீபவாஸிக³ணோ வா ஏதாந் ந நிமந்த்ரய, ததா² க்ரு’தே சேத் தே த்வாம்’ நிமந்த்ரயிஷ்யந்தி, தர்ஹி பரிஸோ²தோ⁴ ப⁴விஷ்யதி|
13 But when thou makest a feast, bid the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
கிந்து யதா³ பே⁴ஜ்யம்’ கரோஷி ததா³ த³ரித்³ரஸு²ஷ்ககரக²ஞ்ஜாந்தா⁴ந் நிமந்த்ரய,
14 and thou shalt be blessed; because they have not [wherewith] to recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed in the resurrection of the just.
தத ஆஸி²ஷம்’ லப்ஸ்யஸே, தேஷு பரிஸோ²த⁴ம்’ கர்த்துமஸ²க்நுவத்ஸு ஸ்²மஸா²நாத்³தா⁴ர்ம்மிகாநாமுத்தா²நகாலே த்வம்’ ப²லாம்’ லப்ஸ்யஸே|
15 And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
அநந்தரம்’ தாம்’ கதா²ம்’ நிஸ²ம்ய போ⁴ஜநோபவிஷ்ட: கஸ்²சித் கத²யாமாஸ, யோ ஜந ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய ராஜ்யே போ⁴க்தும்’ லப்ஸ்யதே ஸஏவ த⁴ந்ய: |
16 But he said unto him, A certain man made a great supper; and he bade many:
தத: ஸ உவாச, கஸ்²சித் ஜநோ ராத்ரௌ பே⁴ஜ்யம்’ க்ரு’த்வா ப³ஹூந் நிமந்த்ரயாமாஸ|
17 and he sent forth his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for [all] things are now ready.
ததோ போ⁴ஜநஸமயே நிமந்த்ரிதலோகாந் ஆஹ்வாதும்’ தா³ஸத்³வாரா கத²யாமாஸ, க²த்³யத்³ரவ்யாணி ஸர்வ்வாணி ஸமாஸாதி³தாநி ஸந்தி, யூயமாக³ச்ச²த|
18 And they all with one [consent] began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a field, and I must needs go out and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
கிந்து தே ஸர்வ்வ ஏகைகம்’ ச²லம்’ க்ரு’த்வா க்ஷமாம்’ ப்ரார்த²யாஞ்சக்ரிரே| ப்ரத²மோ ஜந: கத²யாமாஸ, க்ஷேத்ரமேகம்’ க்ரீதவாநஹம்’ ததே³வ த்³ரஷ்டும்’ மயா க³ந்தவ்யம், அதஏவ மாம்’ க்ஷந்தும்’ தம்’ நிவேத³ய|
19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
அந்யோ ஜந: கத²யாமாஸ, த³ஸ²வ்ரு’ஷாநஹம்’ க்ரீதவாந் தாந் பரீக்ஷிதும்’ யாமி தஸ்மாதே³வ மாம்’ க்ஷந்தும்’ தம்’ நிவேத³ய|
20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
அபர: கத²யாமாஸ, வ்யூட⁴வாநஹம்’ தஸ்மாத் காரணாத்³ யாதும்’ ந ஸ²க்நோமி|
21 And the servant came, and told his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor and maimed and blind and lame.
பஸ்²சாத் ஸ தா³ஸோ க³த்வா நிஜப்ரபோ⁴: ஸாக்ஷாத் ஸர்வ்வவ்ரு’த்தாந்தம்’ நிவேத³யாமாஸ, ததோஸௌ க்³ரு’ஹபதி: குபித்வா ஸ்வதா³ஸம்’ வ்யாஜஹார, த்வம்’ ஸத்வரம்’ நக³ரஸ்ய ஸந்நிவேஸா²ந் மார்கா³ம்’ஸ்²ச க³த்வா த³ரித்³ரஸு²ஷ்ககரக²ஞ்ஜாந்தா⁴ந் அத்ராநய|
22 And the servant said, Lord, what thou didst command is done, and yet there is room.
ததோ தா³ஸோ(அ)வத³த், ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴ ப⁴வத ஆஜ்ஞாநுஸாரேணாக்ரியத ததா²பி ஸ்தா²நமஸ்தி|
23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and constrain [them] to come in, that my house may be filled.
ததா³ ப்ரபு⁴: புந ர்தா³ஸாயாகத²யத், ராஜபதா²ந் வ்ரு’க்ஷமூலாநி ச யாத்வா மதீ³யக்³ரு’ஹபூரணார்த²ம்’ லோகாநாக³ந்தும்’ ப்ரவர்த்தய|
24 For I say unto you, that none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
அஹம்’ யுஷ்மப்⁴யம்’ கத²யாமி, பூர்வ்வநிமந்த்ரிதாநமேகோபி மமாஸ்ய ராத்ரிபோ⁴ஜ்யஸ்யாஸ்வாத³ம்’ ந ப்ராப்ஸ்யதி|
25 Now there went with him great multitudes: and he turned, and said unto them,
அநந்தரம்’ ப³ஹுஷு லோகேஷு யீஸோ²: பஸ்²சாத்³ வ்ரஜிதேஷு ஸத்ஸு ஸ வ்யாகு⁴ட்ய தேப்⁴ய: கத²யாமாஸ,
26 If any man cometh unto me, and hateth not his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
ய: கஸ்²சிந் மம ஸமீபம் ஆக³த்ய ஸ்வஸ்ய மாதா பிதா பத்நீ ஸந்தாநா ப்⁴ராதரோ ப⁴கி³ம்யோ நிஜப்ராணாஸ்²ச, ஏதேப்⁴ய: ஸர்வ்வேப்⁴யோ மய்யதி⁴கம்’ ப்ரேம ந கரோதி, ஸ மம ஸி²ஷ்யோ ப⁴விதும்’ ந ஸ²க்ஷ்யதி|
27 Whosoever doth not bear his own cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
ய: கஸ்²சித் ஸ்வீயம்’ க்ருஸ²ம்’ வஹந் மம பஸ்²சாந்ந க³ச்ச²தி, ஸோபி மம ஸி²ஷ்யோ ப⁴விதும்’ ந ஸ²க்ஷ்யதி|
28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doth not first sit down and count the cost, whether he have [wherewith] to complete it?
து³ர்க³நிர்ம்மாணே கதிவ்யயோ ப⁴விஷ்யதி, ததா² தஸ்ய ஸமாப்திகரணார்த²ம்’ ஸம்பத்திரஸ்தி ந வா, ப்ரத²மமுபவிஸ்²ய ஏதந்ந க³ணயதி, யுஷ்மாகம்’ மத்⁴ய ஏதாத்³ரு’ஸ²: கோஸ்தி?
29 Lest haply, when he hath laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, all that behold begin to mock him,
நோசேத்³ பி⁴த்திம்’ க்ரு’த்வா ஸே²ஷே யதி³ ஸமாபயிதும்’ ந ஸ²க்ஷ்யதி,
30 saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
தர்ஹி மாநுஷோயம்’ நிசேதும் ஆரப⁴த ஸமாபயிதும்’ நாஸ²க்நோத், இதி வ்யாஹ்ரு’த்ய ஸர்வ்வே தமுபஹஸிஷ்யந்தி|
31 Or what king, as he goeth to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
அபரஞ்ச பி⁴ந்நபூ⁴பதிநா ஸஹ யுத்³த⁴ம்’ கர்த்தும் உத்³யம்ய த³ஸ²ஸஹஸ்ராணி ஸைந்யாநி க்³ரு’ஹீத்வா விம்’ஸ²திஸஹஸ்ரே: ஸைந்யை: ஸஹிதஸ்ய ஸமீபவாஸிந: ஸம்முக²ம்’ யாதும்’ ஸ²க்ஷ்யாமி ந வேதி ப்ரத²மம்’ உபவிஸ்²ய ந விசாரயதி ஏதாத்³ரு’ஸோ² பூ⁴மிபதி: க: ?
32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and asketh conditions of peace.
யதி³ ந ஸ²க்நோதி தர்ஹி ரிபாவதிதூ³ரே திஷ்ட²தி ஸதி நிஜதூ³தம்’ ப்ரேஷ்ய ஸந்தி⁴ம்’ கர்த்தும்’ ப்ரார்த²யேத|
33 So therefore whosoever he be of you that renounceth not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
தத்³வத்³ யுஷ்மாகம்’ மத்⁴யே ய: கஸ்²சிந் மத³ர்த²ம்’ ஸர்வ்வஸ்வம்’ ஹாதும்’ ந ஸ²க்நோதி ஸ மம ஸி²ஷ்யோ ப⁴விதும்’ ந ஸ²க்ஷ்யதி|
34 Salt therefore is good: but if even the salt have lost its savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
லவணம் உத்தமம் இதி ஸத்யம்’, கிந்து யதி³ லவணஸ்ய லவணத்வம் அபக³ச்ச²தி தர்ஹி தத் கத²ம்’ ஸ்வாது³யுக்தம்’ ப⁴விஷ்யதி?
35 It is fit neither for the land nor for the dunghill: [men] cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
தத³ பூ⁴ம்யர்த²ம் ஆலவாலராஸ்²யர்த²மபி ப⁴த்³ரம்’ ந ப⁴வதி; லோகாஸ்தத்³ ப³ஹி: க்ஷிபந்தி| யஸ்ய ஸ்²ரோதும்’ ஸ்²ரோத்ரே ஸ்த: ஸ ஸ்²ரு’ணோது|
