Leviticus 11
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them,
UThixo wathi kuMosi lo-Aroni,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the living things which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.
“Alibokuthi kwabako-Israyeli: ‘Kuzozonke izinyamazana ezisemhlabeni, yilezi elingazidla;
3 Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, [and] cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.
lingadla zonke izinyamazana ezilenklagu ezivulekileyo lezentshisayo.
4 Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that part the hoof: the camel, because he cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, he is unclean unto you.
Zikhona ezinye ezentshisayo kuphela, zibe khona ezinye ezilenklagu ezivulekileyo kuphela kodwa lingabozidla. Ikamela loba lisentshisa kalilanklagu ezivulekileyo; ngomkhuba kalihlanzekanga kini.
5 And the coney, because he cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, he is unclean unto you.
Imbila loba isentshisa kayilanklagu ezivulekileyo; ingcolile kini.
6 And the hare, because she cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, she is unclean unto you.
Umvundla, loba usentshisa, kawulanklagu ezivulekileyo; ungcolile kini.
7 And the swine, because he parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, but cheweth not the cud, he is unclean unto you.
Lengulube, loba ilenklagu ezivulekileyo ngokupheleleyo, ayentshisi; ingcolile kini.
8 Of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcases ye shall not touch; they are unclean unto you.
Akufanelanga lidle inyama yazo njalo akufanelanga lithinte loba izidumbu zazo; ngoba zingcolile kini.
9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
Kuzozonke izidalwa ezihlala emanzini asolwandle lasezifuleni, lingadla zonke ezilempiko lamaxolo.
10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of all the living creatures that are in the waters, they are an abomination unto you,
Kodwa zonke izidalwa ezisolwandle lasezifuleni ezingelampiko lamaxolo, kungelani lokuthi ngezihamba ngamaxuku kumbe phakathi kwazo zonke eziphila emanzini kumele lizenyanye.
11 and they shall be an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, and their carcases ye shall have in abomination.
Njalo njengoba lizazenyanya, lingabokudla inyama yazo, njalo kumele lizenyanye lezidumbu zazo.
12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that is an abomination unto you.
Yonke inyamazana ehlala emanzini engalampiko lamaxolo kumele yenyanyeke kini.
13 And these ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the gier eagle, and the ospray;
Lezi yizinyoni okumele lizenyanye njalo lingazidli ngoba zingcolile: ukhozi, ilinqe,
14 and the kite, and the falcon after its kind;
uhelwane olubomvu, loba wuphi umhlobo wohelwane,
15 every raven after its kind;
imihlobo yonke yamawabayi,
16 and the ostrich, and the night hawk, and the seamew, and the hawk after its kind;
isikhova esilesicholo, isikhova esitshaya udweba, ingabuzane, loba wuphi umhlobo wokhozi,
17 and the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl;
umandukulo, itshayamanzi, isikhova esikhulu,
18 and the horned owl, and the pelican, and the vulture;
isikhova esimhlophe, isikhova senkangala, ukhozi oludla inhlanzi,
19 and the stork, the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.
ingabuzane, lawuphi umhlobo welanda, imvenduna lomalulwane.
20 All winged creeping things that go upon all four are an abomination unto you.
Zonke izibungu ezilamaphiko ezihamba ngenyawo zazo ezine kumele zibe ngezingcolileyo kini.
21 Yet these may ye eat of all winged creeping things that go upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth;
Kodwa kulezinye izibungu ezilamaphiko, ezihamba ngezinyawo zazo ezine, lingadla lezo ezilamangqondo, ezeqa ngawo emhlabathini.
22 even these of them ye may eat; the locust after its kind, and the bald locust after its kind, and the cricket after its kind, and the grasshopper after its kind.
Kuzo lingadla intethe ngemihlobo yazo, lamadiye ngemihlobo yawo.
23 But all winged creeping things, which have four feet, are an abomination unto you.
Kodwa zonke ezinye izibungu ezilamaphiko lenyawo ezine lizenyanye.
24 And by these ye shall become unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even:
Liyabe liyazingcolisa ngalezi; ngakho loba ngubani othinta izidumbu zazo uzatshona engongcolileyo kuze kuhlwe.
25 And whosoever beareth [aught] of the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.
Ozaphakamisa izidumbu zezinyamazana lezi kumele ahlambulule izigqoko zakhe, kanti-ke yena uzaba ngongcolileyo kuze kuhlwe.
26 Every beast which parteth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, is unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean.
Yonke inyamazana elengqina elingehlukananga ngokupheleleyo loba engentshisiyo ingcolile kini, wonke othinta isidumbu sezinyamazana lezi uzabe esengongcolile.
27 And whatsoever goeth upon its paws, among all beasts that go on all four, they are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even.
Kuzozonke izinyamazana ezihamba ngenyawo ezine, lezo ezihamba ngezidladla zingcolile kini; kuzakuthi wonke othinta izidumbu zazo abe ngongcolileyo kuze kuhlwe.
28 And he that beareth the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean unto you.
Loba ngubani ozaphakamisa izidumbu zezinyamazana lezi kumele ahlambulule izigqoko zakhe, njalo uzatshona engongcolileyo kuze kuhlwe. Zingcolile kini.
29 And these are they which are unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the great lizard after its kind,
Ezinyamazaneni zonke ezihambahambayo emhlabathini, lezi zingcolile kini: indlegu, igundwane, lemihlobo yonke yemibankwa emikhulu,
30 and the gecko, and the land-crocodile, and the lizard, and the sand-lizard, and the chameleon.
untulo, imbulumakhasane, umbankwa, isiqhuza lonwabu.
31 These are they which are unclean to you among all that creep: whosoever doth touch them, when they are dead, shall be unclean until the even.
Kuzozonke ezihuquzelayo emhlabathini, lezi zingcolile kini. Loba ngubani ozithinta sezifile uzatshona engongcolileyo kuze kuhlwe.
32 And upon whatsoever any of them, when they are dead, doth fall, it shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel of wood, or raiment, or skin, or sack, whatsoever vessel it be, wherewith any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the even; then shall it be clean.
Nxa kungafa eyinye yazo iwele phezu kolutho, lololutho, loba lusetshenziswani luzabe selungolungcolileyo, loba lwenziwe ngesigodo, ngelembu, ngesikhumba loba ngesaka. Lufakeni emanzini; luzabe lungcolile kuze kuhlwe, lapho-ke luzabe seluhlambulukile.
33 And every earthen vessel, whereinto any of them falleth, whatsoever is in it shall be unclean, and it ye shall break.
Nxa esinye sazo singawela embizeni yomdaka, konke okusembizeni kuyabe sekungcolile, sekumele ubulale imbiza.
34 All food [therein] which may be eaten, that on which water cometh, shall be unclean: and all drink that may be drunk in every [such] vessel shall be unclean.
Konke ukudla obekungadliwa okuchaphakelwe ngamanzi aleyo mbiza kungcolile, njalo lobekunganathwa kuvela kuleyo mbiza kungcolile.
35 And every thing whereupon [any part] of their carcase falleth shall be unclean; whether oven, or range for pots, it shall be broken in pieces: they are unclean, and shall be unclean unto you.
Loba yini ewelwe yizidumbu zezinanakazana lezi iba ngengcolileyo; iziko loba imbiza yokupheka sekumele kubhidlizwe. Kuyabe sekungcolile, njalo kumele likuthathe njengokungcolileyo.
36 Nevertheless a fountain or a pit wherein is a gathering of water shall be clean: but that which toucheth their carcase shall be unclean.
Kanti-ke, umthombo loba umgqomo wokukha amanzi uhlala uhlambulukile, kodwa loba ngubani othinta izidumbu lezi ungcolile.
37 And if [aught] of their carcase fall upon any sowing seed which is to be sown, it is clean.
Nxa isidumbu sezinyamazana lezi singawela loba kuyiphi inhlanyelo esilungele ukuhlanyelwa, izahlala ihlambulukile.
38 But if water be put upon the seed, and [aught] of their carcase fall thereon, it is unclean unto you.
Kodwa nxa amanzi esethelwe enhlanyelweni, isidumbu sakhona besesiwela phezu kwayo, isingcolile kini.
39 And if any beast, of which ye may eat, die; he that toucheth the carcase thereof shall be unclean until the even.
Nxa inyamazana elivunyelwe ukuyidla ingazifela, lowo othinta isidumbu sayo uzakuba ngongcolileyo kuze kuhlwe.
40 And he that eateth of the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: he also that beareth the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.
Loba ngubani ozakudla inyama yalesisidumbu kumele ahlambulule izigqoko zakhe, uzakuba ngongcolileyo kuze kuhlwe. Loba ngubani ozaphakamisa lesisidumbu, kumele ahlambulule izigqoko zakhe, uzakuba ngongcolileyo kuze kuhlwe.
41 And every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth is an abomination; it shall not be eaten.
Loba yisiphi isinanakazana esihuquzelayo emhlabathini siyenyanyeka, kasingadliwa.
42 Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon all four, or whatsoever hath many feet, even all creeping things that creep upon the earth, them ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination.
Akufanelanga lidle izinanakazana zonke ezihambahambayo emhlabathini, loba ngezihuquzela ngezisu loba ngezihamba ngazozonke zone loba ngezilenyawo ezinengi; ziyenyanyeka.
43 Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby.
Lingazingcolisi ngezinanakazana lezi, lingazingcolisi ngenxa yazo njalo lingayekeli zilingcolisa.
44 For I am the LORD your God: sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that moveth upon the earth.
NginguThixo uNkulunkulu wenu, zihlambululeni libengcwele, ngoba mina ngingcwele. Lingazingcolisi ngezinanakazana ezihuquzelayo emhlabathini.
45 For I am the LORD that brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
NginguThixo owalikhupha eGibhithe ukuze ngibe nguNkulunkulu wenu; kungakho wobani ngcwele, ngoba mina ngingcwele.
46 This is the law of the beast, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth:
Le yiyo imithetho emayelana lezinyamazana, izinyoni, yonke into ephilayo entsheza emanzini lezinanakazana ezihuquzela emhlabathini.
47 to make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the living thing that may be eaten and the living thing that may not be eaten.
Kumele lehlukanise phakathi kwezingcolileyo lezihlambulukileyo, lehlukanise phakathi kwezidalwa eziphilayo ezingadliwa kanye lokungamelanga zidliwe.’”
