Joshua 21
1 Then came near the heads of fathers’ [houses] of the Levites unto Eleazar the priest, and unto Joshua the son of Nun, and unto the heads of fathers’ [houses] of the tribes of the children of Israel;
Et les chefs des pères des Lévites s’approchèrent d’Éléazar, le sacrificateur, et de Josué, fils de Nun, et des chefs des pères des tribus des fils d’Israël,
2 and they spake unto them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, The LORD commanded by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with the suburbs thereof for our cattle.
et leur parlèrent à Silo, dans le pays de Canaan, disant: L’Éternel a commandé par Moïse qu’on nous donne des villes pour y habiter, et leurs banlieues pour nos bêtes.
3 And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites out of their inheritance, according to the commandment of the LORD, these cities with their suburbs.
Et les fils d’Israël donnèrent de leur héritage aux Lévites, selon le commandement de l’Éternel, ces villes-ci, avec leurs banlieues:
4 And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron the priest, which were of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of the Simeonites, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.
Et le lot échut aux familles des Kehathites. Et il y eut, par le sort, pour les fils d’Aaron, le sacrificateur, d’entre les Lévites, 13 villes de la tribu de Juda, et de la tribu des Siméonites, et de la tribu de Benjamin;
5 And the rest of the children of Kohath had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.
et pour les autres fils de Kehath, dix villes des familles de la tribu d’Éphraïm, et de la tribu de Dan, et de la demi-tribu de Manassé, par le sort;
6 And the children of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.
et pour les fils de Guershon, 13 villes des familles de la tribu d’Issacar, et de la tribu d’Aser, et de la tribu de Nephthali, et de la demi-tribu de Manassé, en Basan, par le sort;
7 The children of Merari according to their families had out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.
[et] pour les fils de Merari, selon leurs familles, douze villes de la tribu de Ruben, et de la tribu de Gad, et de la tribu de Zabulon.
8 And the children of Israel gave by lot unto the Levites these cities with their suburbs, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
Et les fils d’Israël donnèrent aux Lévites, par le sort, ces villes-là et leurs banlieues, comme l’Éternel l’avait commandé par Moïse.
9 And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are [here] mentioned by name:
Et ils donnèrent, de la tribu des fils de Juda et de la tribu des fils de Siméon, ces villes-ci, qu’on nomma par leurs noms,
10 and they were for the children of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites, who were of the children of Levi: for theirs was the first lot.
et qui furent pour les fils d’Aaron, des familles des Kehathites, d’entre les fils de Lévi; car le premier lot fut pour eux.
11 And they gave them Kiriath-arba, [which Arba was] the father of Anak, (the same is Hebron, ) in the hill country of Judah, with the suburbs thereof round about it.
On leur donna: Kiriath-Arba ([Arba était] père d’Anak), c’est Hébron, dans la montagne de Juda, et sa banlieue autour d’elle.
12 But the fields of the city, and the villages thereof, gave they to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession.
Mais la campagne de la ville et ses hameaux, ils les donnèrent à Caleb, fils de Jephunné, pour sa possession.
13 And unto the children of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron with her suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Libnah with her suburbs;
Et ils donnèrent aux fils d’Aaron, le sacrificateur, la ville de refuge pour l’homicide: Hébron et sa banlieue; et Libna et sa banlieue,
14 and Jattir with her suburbs, and Eshtemoa with her suburbs;
et Jatthir et sa banlieue, et Eshtemoa et sa banlieue,
15 and Holon with her suburbs, and Debir with her suburbs;
et Holon et sa banlieue, et Debir et sa banlieue,
16 and Ain with her suburbs, and Juttah with her suburbs, [and] Beth-shemesh with her suburbs; nine cities out of those two tribes.
et Aïn et sa banlieue, et Jutta et sa banlieue, [et] Beth-Shémesh et sa banlieue, neuf villes de ces deux tribus-là;
17 And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with her suburbs, Geba with her suburbs;

18 Anathoth with her suburbs, and Almon with her suburbs; four cities.

19 All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their suburbs.
Toutes les villes des fils d’Aaron, sacrificateurs: 13 villes et leurs banlieues.
20 And the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites, even the rest of the children of Kohath, they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim.
Et pour les familles des fils de Kehath, les autres Lévites d’entre les fils de Kehath, les villes de leur lot furent de la tribu d’Éphraïm.
21 And they gave them Shechem with her suburbs in the hill country of Ephraim, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Gezer with her suburbs;
Ils leur donnèrent la ville de refuge pour l’homicide: Sichem et sa banlieue, dans la montagne d’Éphraïm; et Guézer et sa banlieue,
22 and Kibzaim with her suburbs, and Beth-horon with her suburbs; four cities.
et Kibtsaïm et sa banlieue, et Beth-Horon et sa banlieue, quatre villes;
23 And out of the tribe of Dan, Elteke with her suburbs, Gibbethon with her suburbs;
et de la tribu de Dan: Eltheké et sa banlieue, Guibbethon et sa banlieue,
24 Aijalon with her suburbs, Gath-rimmon with her suburbs; four cities.
Ajalon et sa banlieue, Gath-Rimmon et sa banlieue, quatre villes;
25 And out of the half tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with her suburbs, and Gath-rimmon with her suburbs; two cities.
et de la demi-tribu de Manassé: Thaanac et sa banlieue, et Gath-Rimmon et sa banlieue, deux villes.
26 All the cities of the families of the rest of the children of Kohath were ten with their suburbs.
En tout dix villes et leurs banlieues, pour les familles des autres fils de Kehath.
27 And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the half tribe of Manasseh [they gave] Golan in Bashan with her suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer; and Be-eshterah with her suburbs; two cities.
Et pour les fils de Guershon, d’entre les familles des Lévites, il y eut, de la demi-tribu de Manassé, la ville de refuge pour l’homicide: Golan, en Basan, et sa banlieue; et Beeshtra et sa banlieue, deux villes;
28 And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishion with her suburbs, Daberath with her suburbs;
et de la tribu d’Issacar: Kishion et sa banlieue, Dabrath et sa banlieue,
29 Jarmuth with her suburbs, Engannin with her suburbs; four cities.
Jarmuth et sa banlieue, En-Gannim et sa banlieue, quatre villes;
30 And out of Asher, Mishal with her suburbs, Abdon with her suburbs;
et de la tribu d’Aser: Misheal et sa banlieue, Abdon et sa banlieue,
31 Helkath with her suburbs, and Rehob with her suburbs; four cities.
Helkath et sa banlieue, et Rehob et sa banlieue, quatre villes;
32 And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with her suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Hammoth-dor with her suburbs, and Kartan with her suburbs; three cities.
et de la tribu de Nephthali, la ville de refuge pour l’homicide: Kédesh, en Galilée, et sa banlieue; et Hammoth-Dor et sa banlieue, et Karthan et sa banlieue, trois villes.
33 All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with their suburbs.
Toutes les villes des Guershonites, selon leurs familles: 13 villes et leurs banlieues.
34 And unto the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with her suburbs, and Kartah with her suburbs,
Et pour les familles des fils de Merari, les autres Lévites, [on donna], de la tribu de Zabulon: Jokneam et sa banlieue, Kartha et sa banlieue,
35 Dimnah with her suburbs, Nahalal with her suburbs; four cities.
Dimna et sa banlieue, Nahalal et sa banlieue, quatre villes;
36 And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with her suburbs, and Jahaz with her suburbs,
et de la tribu de Ruben: Bétser et sa banlieue, et Jahtsa et sa banlieue,
37 Kedemoth with her suburbs, and Mephaath with her suburbs; four cities.
Kedémoth et sa banlieue, et Méphaath et sa banlieue, quatre villes;
38 And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Mahanaim with her suburbs;
et de la tribu de Gad, la ville de refuge pour l’homicide: Ramoth, en Galaad, et sa banlieue; et Mahanaïm et sa banlieue,
39 Heshbon with her suburbs, Jazer with her suburbs; four cities in all.
Hesbon et sa banlieue, Jahzer et sa banlieue: en tout, quatre villes.
40 All [these were] the cities of the children of Merari according to their families, even the rest of the families of the Levites; and their lot was twelve cities.
Toutes ces villes étaient aux fils de Merari, selon leurs familles, – le reste des familles des Lévites; leur lot fut de douze villes.
41 All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities with their suburbs.
Toutes les villes des Lévites, au milieu de la possession des fils d’Israël: 48 villes et leurs banlieues.
42 These cities were every one with their suburbs round about them: thus it was with all these cities.
Chacune de ces villes avait sa banlieue autour d’elle; il en était ainsi pour toutes ces villes.
43 So the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.
Et l’Éternel donna à Israël tout le pays qu’il avait juré de donner à leurs pères; et ils le possédèrent, et y habitèrent.
44 And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.
Et l’Éternel leur donna du repos à l’entour, selon tout ce qu’il avait juré à leurs pères; et, de tous leurs ennemis, pas un homme ne tint devant eux; l’Éternel livra tous leurs ennemis entre leurs mains.
45 There failed not aught of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.
Il ne tomba pas un mot de toutes les bonnes paroles que l’Éternel avait dites à la maison d’Israël: tout arriva.
