John 20
1 Now on the first [day] of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, while it was yet dark, unto the tomb, and seeth the stone taken away from the tomb.
Am ersten Wochentag früh, als es noch dunkel war, ging Maria von Magdala zum Grab. Da sah sie, daß der Stein vom Grab weggenommen war.
2 She runneth therefore, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not where they have laid him.
Eilend lief sie nun zu Simon Petrus und zu dem anderen Jünger, den Jesus liebhatte, und sprach zu ihnen: "Man hat den Herrn aus dem Grab weggenommen; und wir wissen nicht, wohin man ihn gelegt hat."
3 Peter therefore went forth, and the other disciple, and they went toward the tomb.
Da machte sich Petrus mit den anderen Jüngern auf den Weg zum Grab.
4 And they ran both together: and the other disciple outran Peter, and came first to the tomb;
Beide liefen miteinander. Doch der andere Jünger, der schneller war als Petrus, eilte ihm voraus und kam zuerst zum Grab.
5 and stooping and looking in, he seeth the linen cloths lying; yet entered he not in.
Dort bückte er sich nieder und sah die leinenen Binden liegen, ging aber nicht hinein.
6 Simon Peter therefore also cometh, following him, and entered into the tomb; and he beholdeth the linen cloths lying,
Nun kam auch Simon Petrus nach. Der betrat das Grab. Er sah dort die leinenen Binden liegen;
7 and the napkin, that was upon his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself.
das Schweißtuch aber, das Jesu Haupt verhüllt hatte, lag nicht bei den Binden, sondern besonders aufgerollt an einer anderen Stelle.
8 Then entered in therefore the other disciple also, which came first to the tomb, and he saw, and believed.
Nun ging auch der andere Jünger hinein, der zuerst zum Grab gekommen war: er sah und glaubte.
9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
Denn damals verstanden sie die Schrift noch nicht, worin gesagt wird, daß er von den Toten auferstehen müsse.
10 So the disciples went away again unto their own home.
Dann kehrten die Jünger wieder nach Hause zurück.
11 But Mary was standing without at the tomb weeping: so, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb;
Maria aber blieb draußen bei dem Grab stehen und schluchzte laut. Wie sie nun so weinte, beugte sie sich vor und sah ins Grab hinein.
12 and she beholdeth two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
Da nahm sie wahr, wie zwei Engel in weißen Gewändern dasaßen; der eine an dem Kopfende, der andere an dem Fußende der Stelle, wo Jesu Leichnam gelegen hatte.
13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.
Die Engel fragten sie: "Warum weinst du?" Sie antwortete: "Man hat meinen Herrn weggenommen, und ich weiß nicht, wohin man ihn gelegt hat."
14 When she had thus said, she turned herself back, and beholdeth Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
Nach diesen Worten wandte sie sich um und sah Jesus dastehen. — Sie wußte aber nicht, daß es Jesus war. —
15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
Jesus fragte sie: "Warum weinst du? Wen suchst du?" In der Meinung, es sei der Gärtner, sprach sie zu ihm: "Herr, hast du ihn weggetragen, so sage mir, wohin du ihn gelegt hast? Dann will ich ihn holen."
16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turneth herself, and saith unto him in Hebrew, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
Jesus sprach zu ihr: "Maria!" Da wandte sie sich ganz zu ihm und rief auf hebräisch "Rabbuni!" — das heißt: Meister —.
17 Jesus saith to her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended unto the Father: but go unto my brethren, and say to them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father, and my God and your God.
Jesus sprach zu ihr: "Klammere dich nicht an mich! Denn ich bin noch nicht zum Vater aufgefahren. Geh aber hin zu meinen Brüdern und sage ihnen: 'Ich fahre auf zu meinem Vater und zu euerm Vater, zu meinem Gott und zu euerm Gott.'"
18 Mary Magdalene cometh and telleth the disciples, I have seen the Lord; and [how that] he had said these things unto her.
Da brachte Maria von Magdala den Jüngern die Botschaft, daß sie den Herrn gesehen und daß er dies zu ihr geredet habe.
19 When therefore it was evening, on that day, the first [day] of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace [be] unto you.
Am Abend jenes ersten Wochentages, als die Jünger aus Furcht vor den Juden bei verschlossenen Türen versammelt waren, kam Jesus und trat in ihren Kreis mit den Worten: "Friede sei mit euch!"
20 And when he had said this, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad, when they saw the Lord.
Als er dies gesagt hatte, zeigte er ihnen seine Hände und seine Seite. Da freuten sich die Jünger, als sie den Herrn sahen.
21 Jesus therefore said to them again, Peace [be] unto you: as the Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
Dann sprach er abermals zu ihnen: "Friede sei mit euch! Wie mich der Vater ausgesandt hat, so sende ich nun euch."
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
Nach diesen Worten hauchte er sie an und sprach zu ihnen: "Nehmt hin den Heiligen Geist!
23 whose soever sins ye forgive, they are forgiven unto them; whose soever [sins] ye retain, they are retained.
Wem ihr die Sünden vergebt, dem sind sie auch vergeben; wem ihr sie behaltet, dem bleiben sie behalten."
24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
Thomas, einer von den Zwölf, mit dem Beinamen "Zwilling", war nicht dabei, als Jesus kam.
25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.
Da erzählten ihm die anderen Jünger: "Wir haben den Herrn gesehen." Er aber erwiderte ihnen: "Erst will ich in seinen Händen die Nägelmale sehen, erst will ich mit meinen Fingern die Nägelmale betasten und meine Hand in seine Seite legen: — sonst glaube ich nun und nimmer!"
26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them. Jesus cometh, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace [be] unto you.
Acht Tage später waren seine Jünger wieder in demselben Haus. Auch Thomas war bei ihnen. Da kam Jesus bei verschlossenen Türen und trat in ihren Kreis mit den Worten: "Friede sei mit euch!"
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and see my hands; and reach [hither] thy hand, and put it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
Dann sprach er zu Thomas: "Leg deinen Finger hier auf diese Stelle und sieh dir meine Hände an! Dann reiche deine Hand her und lege sie in meine Seite und werde nicht ungläubig, sondern gläubig!"
28 Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
Da antwortete ihm Thomas: "Mein Herr und mein Gott!"
29 Jesus saith unto him, Because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed [are] they that have not seen, and [yet] have believed.
Jesus erwiderte ihm: "Weil du mich gesehen hast, bist du nun gläubig? Selig sind, die nicht gesehen haben und doch glauben!"
30 Many other signs therefore did Jesus in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book:
Noch viele andere Wunderzeichen hat Jesus vor den Augen seiner Jünger getan, die nicht in diesem Buch aufgezeichnet stehen.
31 but these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye may have life in his name.
Diese aber sind verzeichnet, damit ihr glaubt, Jesus sei der Messias, der Sohn Gottes, und damit ihr durch diesen Glauben Leben habt in seinem Namen.
