John 10
1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
「本当にはっきりとあなた方に言う。羊の囲いに戸口から入らず，どこかほかの所を乗り越える者，その者は盗人であり，強盗だ。
2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
しかし，戸口から入る者はその羊の羊飼いだ。
3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
門番は彼のために門を開き，羊は彼の声に耳を傾ける。彼は自分の羊を名前で呼ぶ。
4 When he hath put forth all his own, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
自分の羊を連れ出すときはいつでも，彼はその前を行き，羊は彼に従う。彼の声を知っているからだ。
5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
彼らはよその人には決して従わず，その者から逃げ出す。彼らはよその人の声を知らないからだ」 。
6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
イエスはこのたとえを彼らに話したが，彼らは自分たちに告げられたことを理解しなかった。
7 Jesus therefore said unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
それでイエスは再び彼らに言った，「本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。わたしが羊の戸口だ。
8 All that came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
わたしより先に来た者はみな盗人であり，強盗だ。だが，羊は彼らの言うことに耳を傾けなかった。
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and shall find pasture.
わたしが戸口だ。だれでもわたしを通って入るなら，その者は救われ，出入りし，牧草を見つけるだろう。
10 The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have [it] abundantly.
盗人は，盗み，殺し，滅ぼすためだけにやって来る。わたしが来たのは，彼らが命を得，それを豊かに得るためだ。
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd layeth down his life for the sheep.
わたしが良い羊飼いだ。良い羊飼いは羊のために自分の命を捨てる。
12 He that is a hireling, and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, beholdeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth, and the wolf snatcheth them, and scattereth [them]:
雇い人であって，羊飼いでなく，羊を所有していない者は，やって来るオオカミを見ると，羊を残して逃げる。オオカミは羊を奪い，彼らを追い散らす。
13 [he fleeth] because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
雇い人が逃げるのは，彼が雇い人であって，羊のことを心にかけていないからだ。
14 I am the good shepherd; and I know mine own, and mine own know me,
わたしが良い羊飼いだ。わたしは自分の羊を知っており，自分の羊に知られている。
15 even as the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
ちょうど父がわたしを知っておられ，わたしが父を知っているのと同じだ。わたしは羊のために自分の命を捨てる。
16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and they shall become one flock, one shepherd.
わたしにはこの囲いのものではないほかの羊がいる。それらもわたしは連れて来なければならず，彼らはわたしの声を聞く。彼らはひとりの羊飼いを持つひとつの群れとなる。
17 Therefore doth the Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.
それゆえに父はわたしを愛しておられる。わたしが，再びそれを得るために，自分の命を捨てるからだ。
18 No one taketh it away from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment received I from my Father.
だれかがわたしからそれを取り去るのではなく，わたしは自分でそれを捨てるのだ。わたしにはそれを捨てる力があり，それを再び得る力もある。わたしはこのおきてを父から受けた」 。
19 There arose a division again among the Jews because of these words.
そのため，これらの言葉を聞いたユダヤ人たちの間に再び分裂が生じた。
20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?
彼らのうち多くの者は言った，「彼は悪魔に取りつかれて，気が狂っている！ なぜあなた方は彼の言うことに耳を傾けるのか」。
21 Others said, These are not the sayings of one possessed with a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
他の者たちは言った，「これは悪魔に取りつかれた者の言うことではない。悪魔には盲人の目を開けることなどできないではないか」。
22 And it was the feast of the dedication at Jerusalem: it was winter;
エルサレムで奉献の祭りがあった。
23 and Jesus was walking in the temple in Solomon’s porch.
冬のことであった。イエスは神殿の中で回廊を歩いていた。
24 The Jews therefore came round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou hold us in suspense? If thou art the Christ, tell us plainly.
それでユダヤ人たちは彼を取り囲んで言った，「いつまであなたは我々をどっちつかずにしておくのか。あなたがキリストなら，我々にはっきりと告げてくれ」。
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believe not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, these bear witness of me.
イエスは彼らに答えた，「わたしはあなた方に告げたが，あなた方は信じない。わたしが自分の父の名において行なう業，それがわたしについて証言する。
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep.
だが，あなた方は信じない。わたしが告げたように，あなた方はわたしの羊に属していないからだ。
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
わたしの羊はわたしの声を聞き，わたしは彼らを知っており，彼らはわたしに従う。
29 My Father, which hath given [them] unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch [them] out of the Father’s hand.
わたしに彼らを与えられたわたしの父は，すべてのものよりも偉大だ。わたしの父の手から奪い取ることができる者はいない。
30 I and the Father are one.
わたしと父とは一つだ」 。
31 The Jews took up stones again to stone him.
それでユダヤ人たちは，彼を再び石打ちしようとして石を拾い上げた。
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from the Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
イエスは彼らに答えた，「わたしは自分の父から出た多くの良い業をあなた方に見せてきた。その中のどの業のためにあなた方はわたしを石打ちにするのか」 。
33 The Jews answered him, For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
ユダヤ人たちは彼に答えた，「我々があなたを石打ちにするのは，良い業のためではなく，冒とくのためだ。あなたは人間でありながら，自分を神としたからだ」。
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
イエスは彼らに答えた，「あなた方の律法の中に，『わたしは言った，あなた方は神々である』と書いていないだろうか。
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came (and the scripture cannot be broken),
神の言葉の臨んだ人々を神々と呼んだのに（そして聖書は廃れることがあり得ない），
36 say ye of him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am [the] Son of God?
『わたしは神の子だ』とわたしが言ったことのために，父が聖別して世に遣わされた者に関して，『あなたは冒とくしている』と言うのか。
37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
わたしが自分の父の業を行なっていないのなら，わたしを信じるのをやめなさい。
38 But if I do them, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.
だが，わたしがそれらのことを行なっているのなら，たとえわたしを信じないとしても，その業を信じなさい。父がわたしの内におられ，わたしが父の内にいることを知り，また信じるためだ」 。
39 They sought again to take him: and he went forth out of their hand.
彼らは再び彼を捕まえようとした。しかし，彼は彼らの手から出て行った。
40 And he went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John was at the first baptizing; and there he abode.
彼は再びヨルダンの向こう，ヨハネが最初にバプテスマを施していた場所へ去って行き，そこに滞在した。
41 And many came unto him; and they said, John indeed did no sign: but all things whatsoever John spake of this man were true.
大勢の人が彼のところにやって来た。彼らは言った，「ヨハネは確かに何のしるしも行なわなかったが，ヨハネがこの人について言ったことはすべて真実だった」。
42 And many believed on him there.
そこでは大勢の人が彼を信じた。
