Job 4
1 Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,
Entonces intervino Elifaz temanita:
2 If one assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking?
Si intentamos razonar contigo te será molesto. Pero, ¿quién puede refrenarse de hablar?
3 Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands.
Ciertamente tú enseñabas a muchos y fortalecías las manos débiles.
4 Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast confirmed the feeble knees.
Tus palabras levantaban al que tropezaba y afirmabas las rodillas decaídas.
5 But now it is come unto thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.
Pero ahora te sucede a ti. Te desalientas, te tocó a ti y te turbas.
6 Is not thy fear [of God] thy confidence, [and] thy hope the integrity of thy ways?
¿No es tu temor a ʼElohim tu confianza, y la integridad de tus procedimientos tu esperanza?
7 Remember, I pray thee, who [ever] perished, being innocent? or where were the upright cut off?
Te ruego que recuerdes: ¿Quién pereció jamás por ser inocente? ¿Dónde fueron destruidos los rectos?
8 According as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow trouble, reap the same.
Según veo, los que aran iniquidad y siembran aflicción, las cosechan.
9 By the breath of God they perish, and by the blast of his anger are they consumed.
Por el aliento de ʼElohim perecen, y por el soplo de su ira son consumidos.
10 The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken.
El rugido del león, la voz fiera de la leona y los dientes de sus cachorros son quebrados.
11 The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, and the whelps of the lioness are scattered abroad.
El león viejo perece por falta de presa, y los cachorros de la leona se dispersan.
12 Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a whisper thereof.
Entonces un mensaje me llegó a hurtadillas, y mi oído percibió un susurro de él
13 In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men,
en inquietantes visiones nocturnas, cuando el sueño profundo cae sobre los hombres.
14 Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.
Un terror se apoderó de mí, y todos mis huesos se estremecieron.
15 Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up.
Al pasar un espíritu frente a mí se eriza el pelo de mi cuerpo.
16 It stood still, but I could not discern the appearance thereof; a form was before mine eyes: [there was] silence, and I heard a voice, [saying],
Se detiene, pero no distingo su semblante. Una apariencia está delante de mis ojos, hay silencio… y oigo una voz reposada:
17 Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his Maker?
¿Será el hombre más justo que ʼElohim? ¿El hombre, más puro que su Hacedor?
18 Behold, he putteth no trust in his servants; and his angels he chargeth with folly:
Ciertamente en sus esclavos no confía, y a sus ángeles atribuye insensatez.
19 How much more them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth!
¡Cuánto más los que viven en casas de barro cimentadas en el polvo serán desmenuzados por la polilla!
20 Betwixt morning and evening they are destroyed: they perish for ever without any regarding it.
Entre la mañana y la tarde son destruidos, y sin que alguno se dé cuenta, perecen para siempre.
21 Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them? they die, and that without wisdom.
¿No les son arrancadas las cuerdas de sus tiendas? En ellas mueren, pero no adquirieron sabiduría.
