< Job 22 >

1 Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,
Awo Erifaazi Omutemani n’addamu n’ayogera nti,
2 Can a man be profitable unto God? surely he that is wise is profitable unto himself.
“Omuntu ayinza okugasa Katonda? Wadde oyo ow’amagezi ayinza okumuyamba?
3 Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain [to him], that thou makest thy ways perfect?
Ayinzabyonna yandifunye kwesiima ki singa wali mutuukirivu? Yandiganyuddwa ki singa amakubo go gaali magolokofu?
4 Is it for thy fear [of him] that he reproveth thee, that he entereth with thee into judgment?
“Akukangavvula lwa kumutya era kyava akuvunaana?
5 Is not thy wickedness great? neither is there any end to thine iniquities.
Okwonoona kwo si kunene nnyo? Ebibi byo si bingi nnyo?
6 For thou hast taken pledges of thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.
Kubanga waggya ku muganda wo emisingo awatali nsonga; waggya engoye ku bantu, n’obaleka bwereere.
7 Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.
Tewawa bakoowu mazzi, abaagala wabamma emmere,
8 But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man, he dwelt in it.
wadde nga wali musajja wa maanyi, eyalina ettaka, omusajja ow’ekitiibwa, era nga byonna ggwe nnyini byo.
9 Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
Weegobako bannamwandu bagende nga toliiko ky’obawadde; abatalina bakitaabwe n’obamalamu amaanyi.
10 Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee,
Emitego kyegivudde gikwetooloola. Lwaki entiisa ey’amangu ekujjira?
11 Or darkness, that thou canst not see, and abundance of waters cover thee.
Lwaki enzikiza ekutte nnyo tosobola kulaba, era lwaki amataba gakubikkako?
12 Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!
“Katonda tali waggulu mu ggulu? Era laba, emmunyeenye ezisingayo okuba waggulu, nga bwe ziri ewala!
13 And thou sayest, What doth God know? can he judge through the thick darkness?
Ate n’ogamba nti, ‘Katonda amanyi ki? Ayinza okulamulira mu kizikiza?
14 Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.
Ebire ebikutte bimubikkako, n’aba ng’atatulaba bw’aba atambula mu bifo by’omu ggulu.’
15 Wilt thou keep the old way which wicked men have trodden?
Onoosigala mu kkubo ery’edda abasajja abakozi b’ebibi lye baakwata?
16 Who were snatched away before their time, whose foundation was poured out as a stream:
Baatwalibwa ng’ekiseera kyabwe tekinnatuuka, emisingi gyabwe gyatwalibwa amataba.
17 Who said unto God, Depart from us; and, What can the Almighty do for us?
Be bagamba Katonda nti, ‘Tulekere emirembe! Ayinzabyonna ayinza kutukola ki?’
18 Yet he fired their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
Ate nga ye, ye yajjuza ennyumba zaabwe ebintu ebirungi, noolwekyo neewuunya nnyo amagezi g’abakozi b’ebibi.
19 The righteous see it, and are glad; and the innocent laugh them to scorn:
Abatuukirivu balaba okuzikirira kwabwe ne bajaguza; abataliiko musango babasekerera nga bagamba nti,
20 [Saying], Surely they that did rise up against us are cut off, and the remnant of them the fire hath consumed.
‘Ddala abalabe baffe bazikiridde, era omuliro gulidde obugagga bwabwe.’
21 Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.
“Gonderanga Katonda ofunenga emirembe; mu ngeri eno ebirungi lwe binajjanga gy’oli.
22 Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.
Kkiriza ebiragiro ebiva mu kamwa ke era oteeke ebigambo bye mu mutima gwo.
23 If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up; if thou put away unrighteousness far from thy tents.
Bw’onodda eri oyo Ayinzabyonna, onodda buggya, bwonooteeka ebibi ewala ne weema yo,
24 And lay thou [thy] treasure in the dust, and [the gold of] Ophir among the stones of the brooks;
n’oteeka n’amayinja go ag’omuwendo mu ttaka, zaabu yo eya Ofiri ku njazi z’omu mugga,
25 And the Almighty shall be thy treasure, and precious silver unto thee.
awo Ayinzabyonna anaabeeranga zaabu yo, era ffeeza esingayo obulungi.
26 For then shalt thou delight thyself in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.
Ddala ddala olisanyukira mu oyo Ayinzabyonna era oyimuse amaaso go eri Katonda.
27 Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee; and thou shalt pay thy vows.
Olimusaba, alikuwulira, era olituukiriza obweyamo bwo.
28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee; and light shall shine upon thy ways.
Ky’olisalawo kirikolebwa, era ekitangaala kirimulisa amakubo go.
29 When they cast [thee] down, thou shalt say, [There is] lifting up; and the humble person he shall save.
Abantu abalala bwe balisuulibwa n’ogamba nti, ‘Bayimuse!’ Olwo alirokola abagudde.
30 He shall deliver [even] him that is not innocent: yea, he shall be delivered through the cleanness of thine hands.
Alinunula n’oyo aliko omusango, alinunulwa olw’obulongoofu bw’emikono gyo.”
