Job 20
1 Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
૧ત્યારે સોફાર નાઅમાથીએ પ્રત્યુત્તર આપ્યો અને કહ્યું,
2 Therefore do my thoughts give answer to me, even by reason of my haste that is in me.
૨“મારા વિચારો મને ઉત્તર આપવાને સૂચવે છે. ચિંતાને લીધે હું અધીરો બની ગયો છું.
3 I have heard the reproof which putteth me to shame, and the spirit of my understanding answereth me.
૩મને શરમાવે એવો ઠપકો મેં સાંભળ્યો છે, અને મારી પ્રેરકબુદ્ધિ મને ઉત્તર આપે છે.
4 Knowest thou [not] this of old time, since man was placed upon earth,
૪શું તને ખબર નથી કે, પ્રાચીન કાળથી, એટલે કે મનુષ્ય પૃથ્વી પર આવીને વસ્યો ત્યારથી,
5 That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the godless but for a moment?
૫દુષ્ટ લોકોની કીર્તિ ક્ષણભંગુર છે, તથા અધર્મીઓનો આનંદ ક્ષણિક છે?
6 Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;
૬તેનો યશ આકાશ સુધી પહોંચે, અને તેનું મસ્તક આભ સુધી પહોંચે,
7 Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?
૭તોપણ તે પોતાની જ વિષ્ટાની જેમ હંમેશને માટે નાશ પામે છે. જેમણે એને જોયો છે તેઓ પૂછે છે, ‘તે ક્યાં છે?’
8 He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
૮સ્વપ્નની જેમ તે ઊડી જશે અને તેનો પત્તો લાગશે નહિ; રાત્રિના સંદર્શનની જેમ તે અદ્રશ્ય થઈ જશે.
9 The eye which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.
૯જેણે તેને જોયો છે તે તને ફરી કદી જોઈ શકશે નહિ. તેનું સ્થળ તેને ક્યારેય જોવા પામશે નહિ.
10 His children shall seek the favour of the poor, and his hands shall give back his wealth.
૧૦તેનાં સંતાનો ગરીબોની મહેરબાની શોધશે, અને તેના હાથો તેનું ધન પાછું આપશે.
11 His bones are full of his youth, but it shall lie down with him in the dust.
૧૧તેનામાં યુવાનીનું જોર છે. પણ તે તેની સાથે ધૂળમાં મળી જશે.
12 Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue;
૧૨જો કે દુષ્ટતા તેના મુખને મીઠી લાગે છે. જો કે તે તેને પોતાની જીભ નીચે છુપાવી રાખે છે.
13 Though he spare it, and will not let it go, but keep it still within his mouth;
૧૩જો કે તે તેને પાછી રાખીને જવા ન દે, પણ પોતાના મોમાં જ રાખી મૂકે છે.
14 Yet his meat in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps within him.
૧૪પરંતુ ખોરાક તેના પેટમાં કડવો થઈ ગયો છે; તે તેની અંદર સાપના ઝેર સમાન થઈ ગયો છે.
15 He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.
૧૫તે જે ધનસંપતિ ગળી ગયો છે તે તેણે ઓકી નાખવી પડશે; ઈશ્વર તેના પેટમાંથી તેને ઓકી કઢાવશે.
16 He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper’s tongue shall slay him.
૧૬તે સર્પનું ઝેર ચૂસશે; નાગનો ડંખ તેને મારી નાખશે.
17 He shall not look upon the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and butter.
૧૭તે નદીઓ, માખણ તથા મધની વહેતી ધારાઓ જોવા પામશે નહિ.
18 That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down; according to the substance that he hath gotten, he shall not rejoice.
૧૮જેને માટે તેણે મહેનત કરી હશે; તે તેને પાછું આપવું પડશે; અને તે તેને ભોગવવા પામશે નહિ; તે જે ધનસંપત્તિ કમાયો હશે તેથી તેને આનંદ થશે નહિ.
19 For he hath oppressed and forsaken the poor; he hath violently taken away an house, and he shall not build it up.
૧૯કેમ કે તેણે ગરીબો પર જુલમ કર્યો છે, તથા તેઓને તરછોડ્યા છે, તેણે જે ઘર બાંધ્યું નહોતું તે તેણે જુલમથી લઈ લીધું છે.
20 Because he knew no quietness within him, he shall not save aught of that wherein he delighteth.
૨૦તેના મનમાં કંઈ શાંતિ નહોતી, માટે જેમાં તે આનંદ માને છે તેમાંનું તે કંઈ પણ બચાવી શકશે નહિ.
21 There was nothing left that he devoured not; therefore his prosperity shall not endure.
૨૧તેણે ખાઈ જવામાં કંઈ બાકી રાખ્યું નથી; તેની સફળતા ટકશે નહીં.
22 In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: the hand of every one that is in misery shall come upon him.
૨૨તેની સંપત્તિ પુષ્કળ હોવા છતાં તે તંગીમાં આવી પડશે, દરેક દુઃખી જનનો હાથ તેની વિરુદ્ધ થશે.
23 When he is about to fill his belly, [God] shall cast the fierceness of his wrath upon him, and shall rain it upon him while he is eating.
૨૩જ્યારે તેનું પેટ ભરવાની તૈયારીમાં હશે એટલામાં, ઈશ્વરનો ક્રોધ તેના પર ઊતરશે; તે ખાતો હશે એટલામાં તેના પર તે કોપ વરસાવશે.
24 He shall flee from the iron weapon, and the bow of brass shall strike him through.
૨૪જો કે લોઢાના શસ્ત્રથી તે ભાગશે, તો પિત્તળનું બાણ એને વીંધી નાખશે.
25 He draweth it forth, and it cometh out of his body: yea, the glittering point cometh out of his gall; terrors are upon him.
૨૫તેના પેટમાંથી બાણ આરપાર નીકળી જશે; અને પીઠમાંથી ભોંકાઈને બહાર આવશે; તેની ચળકતી ધાર તેના પિત્તાશયને વીંધી નાખશે. તેના પર ભય આવી પડશે.
26 All darkness is laid up for his treasures: a fire not blown [by man] shall devour him; it shall consume that which is left in his tent.
૨૬તેના ખજાનાની જગ્યાએ કેવળ અંધકાર તેને માટે રાખી મૂક્યો છે. પ્રચંડ અગ્નિ કે જેને કોઈ માનવે સળગાવ્યો નથી તે તેને ભસ્મીભૂત કરી નાખશે.
27 The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, and the earth shall rise up against him.
૨૭આકાશ તેનો અન્યાય પ્રગટ કરશે, પૃથ્વી તેની વિરુદ્ધ સાક્ષી પૂરશે.
28 The increase of his house shall depart, [his goods] shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
૨૮તેના ઘરની સંપત્તિ નાશ પામશે, તે ઈશ્વરના કોપને દિવસે વહી જશે.
29 This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.
૨૯દુષ્ટ લોકોને ઈશ્વર તરફથી મળેલો હિસ્સો, તથા ઈશ્વરે તને ઠરાવી આપેલું વતન આ જ છે.”
