Job 14
1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
O homem, nascido de mulher, é curto de dias, e farto de inquietação;
2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
Ele sai como uma flor, e é cortado; foge como a sombra, e não permanece.
3 And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?
Contudo sobre este abres teus olhos, e me trazes a juízo contigo.
4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
Quem tirará algo puro do imundo? Ninguém.
5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months is with thee, and thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
Visto que seus dias já estão determinados, e contigo está o número de seus meses, tu lhe puseste limites, [dos quais] ele não passará.
6 Look away from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.
Desvia-te dele, para que ele tenha repouso; até que, como o empregado, complete seu dia.
7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
Porque há [ainda] alguma esperança para a árvore que, se cortada, ainda se renove, e seus renovos não cessem.
8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
Ainda que sua raiz se envelheça na terra, e seu tronco morra no solo,
9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and put forth boughs like a plant.
Ao cheiro das águas ela brotará, e dará ramos como uma planta nova.
10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
Porém o homem morre, e se abate; depois de expirar, onde ele está?
11 [As] the waters fail from the sea, and the river decayeth and drieth up;
As águas se vão do lago, e o rio se esgota, e se seca.
12 So man lieth down and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be roused out of their sleep.
Assim o homem se deita, e não se levanta; até que não haja mais céus, eles não despertarão, nem se erguerão de seu sono.
13 Oh that thou wouldest hide me in Sheol, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! (Sheol h7585)
Ah, se tu me escondesses no Xeol, e me ocultasses até que a tua ira passasse, se me pusesses um limite de tempo, e te lembrasses de mim! (Sheol h7585)
14 If a man die, shall he live [again]? all the days of my warfare would I wait, till my release should come.
Se o homem morrer, voltará a viver? Todos os dias de meu combate esperarei, até que venha minha dispensa.
15 Thou shouldest call, and I would answer thee: thou wouldest have a desire to the work of thine hands.
Tu [me] chamarás, e eu te responderei; e te afeiçoarás à obra de tuas mãos.
16 But now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
Pois então tu contarias meus passos, e não ficarias vigiando meu pecado.
17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou fastenest up mine iniquity.
Minha transgressão estaria selada numa bolsa, e tu encobririas minhas perversidades.
18 And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of its place;
E assim como a montanha cai e é destruída, e a rocha muda de seu lugar,
19 The waters wear the stones; the overflowings thereof wash away the dust of the earth: and thou destroyest the hope of man.
E a água desgasta as pedras, e as enxurradas levam o pó da terra, assim também tu fazes perecer a esperança do homem.
20 Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth; thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
Sempre prevaleces contra ele, e ele passa; tu mudas o aspecto de seu rosto, e o despedes.
21 His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.
Se seus filhos vierem a ter honra, ele não saberá; se forem humilhados, ele não perceberá.
22 But his flesh upon him hath pain, and his soul within him mourneth.
Ele apenas sente as dores em sua própria carne, e lamenta por sua própria alma.
