< Jeremiah 5 >
1 Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that doeth justly, that seeketh truth; and I will pardon her.
“Mizɔ to Yerusalem ƒe kpɔdomewo, mitsa ŋku le teƒeteƒewo ne miabu eŋuti eye miatsa to eƒe ablɔwo dzi. Ne miate ŋu akpɔ ame ɖeka teti si awɔ nu anukwaretɔe eye wòati nyateƒe ko yome la, matsɔe ake du sia.
2 And though they say, As the LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely.
Togbɔ be wogblɔ be, ‘Meta Yehowa ƒe agbe’ hã la, wole nu tam alakpatɔe kokoko.”
3 O LORD, do not thine eyes look upon truth? thou hast stricken them, but they were not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
O Yehowa, ɖe wò ŋkuwo mele nyateƒe ŋu oa? ȃo wo gake womese veve o, ègbã wo nyanyanya gake womese veve o, ègbã wo nyanyanya gake wogbe ɖɔɖɔɖowɔwɔ. Wowɔ woƒe mo wòsẽ wu kpe eye wogbe dzimetɔtrɔ.
4 Then I said, Surely these are poor: they are foolish; for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God:
Mebui be, “Ame siawo la, ame dahewo ko wonye. Wonye movitɔwo hã elabena womenya Yehowa ƒe mɔ kple woƒe Mawu la ƒe didiwo o.
5 I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they know the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God. But these with one accord have broken the yoke, and burst the bands.
Eya ta mayi ɖe woƒe kplɔlawo gbɔ, aƒo nu na wo; woawo ya nya Yehowa ƒe mɔ kple woƒe Mawu la ƒe didiwo godoo.” Gake woawo hã tsɔ lɔlɔ̃nu ɖeka ŋe kɔkuti la ɖa eye wotu kɔsasawo.
6 Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities, every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, [and] their backslidings are increased.
Eya ta dzata ado tso ave me ava dze wo dzi, amegaxi ado tso gbegbe avuvu wo, eye lãkle ava de xa ɖe woƒe duwo ƒe gbɔto, be wòavuvu ame si ake atse ado go la ʋayaʋaya, elabena woƒe aglãdzedze lolo, eye woƒe megbededewo sɔ gbɔ.
7 How can I pardon thee? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they committed adultery, and assembled themselves in troops at the harlots’ houses.
“Nu ka ta matsɔe ake mi ɖo? Mia viwo gbem, eye wota mawu siwo menye mawu o togbɔ be mekpɔ woƒe hiahiãwo katã gbɔ na wo hã la, wogayi ɖawɔ ahasi, eye woƒo ta kpli ɖe gboloxɔwo me.
8 They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour’s wife.
Woɖi ƒo nyuie abe sɔtsu siwo le asi yɔm la ene, ɖe sia ɖe le gbe tem ɖe ame bubu srɔ̃ ŋu.
9 shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Ɖe mele be mahe to na wo ɖe esia ta oa? Ɖe nyemabia hlɔ̃ dukɔ sia tɔgbi oa?” Yehowae gblɔe.
10 Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her branches: for they are not the LORD’S.
“Mige ɖe eƒe waingblewo me eye mialã woƒe wainkawo. Ke migagblẽ wo gbidigbidi o. Milã alɔwo elabena dukɔ sia menye Yehowa tɔ o.
11 For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD.
Israel kple Yuda ƒe aƒewo meto nyateƒe nam kura o.” Yehowae gblɔe.
12 They have denied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:
Woda alakpa tso Yehowa ŋu hegblɔ bena, “Mawɔ naneke o! Vɔ̃ aɖeke mawɔ mí o eye míakpɔ dɔwuame alo yi ƒe ŋkume gbeɖe o.
13 and the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.
Nyagblɔɖilawo la, ya ko wonye eye nya la mele wo me o, eya ta, na woawɔ nu si wogblɔ la na wo.”
14 Wherefore thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.
Eya ta ale Yehowa, Dziƒoʋakɔwo ƒe Mawu la gblɔe nye esi: “Esi dukɔ la gblɔ nya siawo ta la, mawɔ nye nya la wòazu dzo bibi anɔ wò nu me eye dukɔ la anye nake si wòabi.”
15 Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.
Yehowa be, “O Israel ƒe aƒe, mele dukɔ aɖe kplɔ ge atso didiƒe ava ƒo ɖe dziwò, blemadukɔ si li tegbee, dukɔ si ƒe gbegbɔgblɔ mènya o, eye mèse egɔme hã o.
16 Their quiver is an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men.
Woƒe daku le abe yɔdo si le nuvo la ene. Wo katã wonye aʋawɔla kalẽtɔwo.
17 And they shall eat up thine harvest and thy bread, [which] thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall beat down thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustest, with the sword.
Woava ɖu wò agblemenukuwo kple wò nuɖuɖu, woaɖu viwò ŋutsuwo kple viwò nyɔnuwo. Woaɖu wò alẽhawo kple nyihawo, eye woaɖu wò waintsetsewo kple gbotiwo. Woatsɔ yi agblẽ wò du sesẽ siwo ŋu nèle ŋu ɖom ɖo.”
18 But even in those days, saith the LORD, I will not make a full end with you.
Yehowa be, “Ke le ɣe ma ɣi hã la, nyematsrɔ̃ mi gbidigbidi o.
19 And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD our God done all these things unto us? then shalt thou say unto them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
Ale be ne amewo bia be, ‘Nu ka ta Yehowa, míaƒe Mawu la wɔ esiawo ɖe mía ŋu hã?’ la, miagblɔ na wo be, ‘Esi miegbem hesubɔ dutamawuwo le wò ŋutɔ wò anyigba dzi ta la, azɔ la mianye kluviwo na dutatɔwo le anyigba si menye mia tɔ o la dzi.’
20 Declare ye this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,
“Ɖe gbeƒã nya sia na Yakob ƒe aƒe la eye nàdo kpo le Yuda.
21 Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:
‘Mise nya sia, mi bometsilawo kple susumanɔsitɔwo, ame siwo ŋku li na, gake womekpɔa nu o, ame siwo to li na, gake womesea nu o.’
22 Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it? and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it.
Yehowa be, ‘Ɖe mele be miavɔ̃m oa? Mewɔ ke be wòado liƒo na atsiaƒu, wòanye dɛ mavɔ si nu mate ŋu atso o. Ƒutsotsoewo aŋe aƒo ɖe eŋu gake womate ŋui o. Woadze agbo gake womate ŋui o. Woadze agbo gake womate ŋu agbɔ liƒoa ŋu o.
23 But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.
Ke dukɔ sia la, dzi sesẽ, dzeaglãe li na wo. Wodze ɖe aga, eye wotra mɔ.’
24 Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in its season; that reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.
25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good from you.
Miaƒe nu tovowo wɔwɔe xe mɔ na nu siawo katã, eye miaƒe nu vɔ̃wo te nu nyuiwo mi.
26 For among my people are found wicked men: they watch, as fowlers lie in wait; they set a trap, they catch men.
“Ame vɔ̃ɖiwo le nye dukɔ me, ame siwo de xa abe ale si ŋutsu siwo trea mɔ na xeviwo wɔnɛ ene eye wole abe ŋutsu siwo trea mɔ na amewo ene.
27 As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.
Abe ale si xeviwo yɔa xadzanu fũu ene la, nenema woƒe aƒewo yɔ taŋ kple beble. Ale wova zu kesinɔtɔwo kple ŋusẽtɔwo,
28 They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass in deeds of wickedness: they plead not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they should prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.

29 shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Yehowa be, “Ɖe nyemahe to na wo le esia ta oa? Ɖe nyemabia hlɔ̃ dukɔ sia tɔgbi oa?
30 A wonderful and horrible thing is come to pass in the land;
“Ŋɔdzinu kple dzigbãnu aɖe dzɔ le anyigba dzi.
31 the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?
