< Jeremiah 19 >
1 Thus said the LORD, Go, and buy a potter’s earthen bottle, and [take] of the elders of the people, and of the elders of the priests;
Ũũ nĩguo Jehova ekuuga: “Thiĩ ũgũre gatigithũ ka rĩũmba harĩ mũũmbi. Ũcooke woe athuuri amwe a kĩrĩndĩ na athĩnjĩri-Ngai amwe,
2 and go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the gate Harsith, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee:
mumagare mũthiĩ Gĩtuamba-inĩ kĩa Beni-Hinomu, hakuhĩ na itoonyero rĩa Kĩhingo-kĩa-Ngĩo. Wakinya hau wanĩrĩre ũhoro ũrĩa ngũkwĩra,
3 and say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle.
uuge atĩrĩ, ‘Ta iguai ndũmĩrĩri ya Jehova, inyuĩ athamaki a Juda, na andũ a Jerusalemu. Jehova Mwene-Hinya-Wothe, o we Ngai wa Isiraeli ekuuga atĩrĩ: Ta thikĩrĩriai! Nĩngũrehithia mwanangĩko kũndũ gũkũ ũrĩa ũgaatũma mũndũ o wothe ũrĩa ũkaũigua ararakwo nĩ matũ.
4 Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom they knew not, they and their fathers and the kings of Judah; and have filled this place with the blood of innocents;
Nĩgũkorwo nĩmandirikĩte na magatũma haha hatuĩke handũ ha ngai cia kũndũ kũngĩ; nĩmacinĩire magongona kũrĩ ngai iria o ene, kana maithe mao, o na kana athamaki a Juda matooĩ, na makaiyũria kũndũ gũkũ thakame ya andũ arĩa matarĩ ũũru mekĩte.
5 and have built the high places of Baal, to burn their sons in the fire for burnt offerings unto Baal; which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind:
Nĩmakĩĩte kũndũ kũrĩa gũtũũgĩru gwa kũhooerwo Baali, na gwa gũcinagĩrwo ariũ ao na mwaki matuĩke maruta ma kũrutĩrwo Baali, ũndũ ũrĩa niĩ itaathanire wĩkagwo, kana ngĩũgweta, o na ũndũ ũtarĩ wagĩa meciiria-inĩ makwa.
6 therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Topheth, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of Slaughter.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, Jehova ekuuga atĩrĩ, Mwĩmenyererei, tondũ matukũ nĩmarooka rĩrĩa andũ matagacooka gwĩtaga kũndũ gũkũ Tofethi, kana Gĩtuamba kĩa Beni-Hinomu, no gũgeetagwo Gĩtuamba gĩa Kũũraganĩrwo.
7 And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of them that seek their life: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
“‘Kũndũ gũkũ nĩkuo ngathũkĩria mĩbango yothe ya Juda na ya Jerusalemu. Nĩngatũma mooragwo na hiũ cia njora nĩ thũ ciao, moko-inĩ ma andũ arĩa mendaga kũmaruta muoyo, nacio ciimba ciao ndĩciheane ituĩke nyama cia kũrĩĩo nĩ nyoni cia rĩera-inĩ na nyamũ cia gĩthaka.
8 And I will make this city an astonishment, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof.
Nĩngananga itũũra rĩĩrĩ ndũme rĩtuĩke kũndũ gwa kũnyararwo; arĩa othe makaahĩtũkĩra kuo nĩmakagega na mamanyũrũrie moona ũrĩa nguraro ciao cingĩhĩte.
9 And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend, in the siege and in the straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their life, shall straiten them.
10 Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee,
“Ũcooke ũũrage gatigithũ kau, acio mũgaathiĩ nao makĩonaga,
11 and shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter’s vessel, that cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury in Topheth, till there be no place to bury.
12 Thus will I do unto this place, saith the LORD, and to the inhabitants thereof, even making this city as Topheth:
Ũguo nĩguo ngeeka kũndũ gũkũ, o na andũ arĩa matũũraga kuo, ũguo nĩguo Jehova ekuuga. Nĩngatũma itũũra rĩĩrĩ inene rĩhaane o ta Tofethi.
13 and the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, which are defiled, shall be as the place of Topheth, even all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto other gods.
Nyũmba iria irĩ Jerusalemu, o na cia athamaki a Juda nĩigathaahio o ta gũkũ Tofethi: nyũmba ciothe iria maacinĩire ũbumba igũrũ rĩacio, makĩũcinĩra mbũtũ ciothe cia njata, na magĩitagĩra ngai ingĩ maruta ma indo cia kũnyuuo.’”
14 Then came Jeremiah from Topheth, whither the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD’S house, and said to all the people:
Jeremia agĩcooka akĩhũndũka kuuma Tofethi, o kũu Jehova aamũtũmĩte akarathĩre andũ ũhoro, nake akĩrũgama nja ya hekarũ ya Jehova, akĩĩra andũ othe atĩrĩ,
15 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it; because they have made their neck stiff, that they might not hear my words.
“Jehova Mwene-Hinya-Wothe, o Wee Ngai wa Isiraeli, ekuuga atĩrĩ, ‘Ta thikĩrĩriai! Nĩngũrehithĩria itũũra rĩĩrĩ inene, o na tũtũũra tũrĩa tũrĩrigiicĩirie tuothe mwanangĩko ũrĩa wothe ngwetete igũrũ rĩao, nĩ ũndũ nĩmoomirie ngingo, makĩaga gũthikĩrĩria ciugo ciakwa.’”
