Isaiah 9
1 But there shall be no gloom to her that was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time hath he made it glorious, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the nations.
Doch nimmer kennt Ermüdung, der sich ergießt darüber. Zuerst eilt er ins Land von Zabulon und Naphtali. Zuletzt bedrückt er auch den Meeresweg, am Jordan das Gelände samt dem Heidengau.
2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
Das Volk, das da im Dunkel wallt, es sieht ein mächtig Licht, und über den Bewohnern finstern Landes wird es hell. -
3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, thou hast increased their joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
Viel schaffst Du frohen Jubels, und groß machst Du die Freude; man freut sich unter Deinen Augen wie bei Erntefreuden, wie bei der Beuteteilung jauchzen sie.
4 For the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, thou hast broken as in the day of Midian.
Die Last des Jochs, das Holz auf seinem Nacken, des Treibers Stock zerbrichst Du wie am Midianstage.
5 For all the armour of the armed man in the tumult, and the garments rolled in blood, shall even be for burning, for fuel of fire.
Denn jeder Schuh, der dröhnend stampft, der Mantel, blutbefleckt, verfällt dem Brand, dem Fraß des Feuers.
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Ein Kind wird uns geboren; ein Sohn wird uns geschenkt, das Herrscherzeichen auf der Schulter; sein Name lautet: "Wunderbarer Rater, Gott und Held, ein ewiger Vater, Friedensfürst".
7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with judgment and with righteousness from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts shall perform this.
Das Reich wird groß, endlos der Friede. Er nimmt Besitz von Davids Thron und Reich, errichtet dies aufs neue, festigt es durch Recht und durch Gerechtigkeit von nun an bis auf ewig. Dies wirkt des Herrn der Heeresscharen Eifer.
8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.
Der Herr entsandte aber gegen Jakob einst ein Wort; es ging auf Israel.
9 And all the people shall know, [even] Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in pride and in stoutness of heart,
Sein ganzes Volk erfuhr's, ganz Ephraim und die Bewohner von Samaria, weil sie in Übermut und stolzem Sinne sprachen:
10 The bricks are fallen, but we will build with hewn stone: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.
"Stürzten Ziegelsteine ein, mit Quadern bauen wir es auf. Und hieb man Sykomoren ab, ersetzen wir's mit Zedern."
11 Therefore the LORD shall set up on high against him the adversaries of Rezin, and shall stir up his enemies;
Da ließ der Herr des Resin Haß dawider lodern: Er stachelt seine Feinde an,
12 the Syrians before, and the Philistines behind, and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
die Syrer hier im Osten, im Westen die Philister. Sie fressen Israel an jeder Seite an. Und dennoch konnte sich sein Zorn nicht legen; noch immer blieb sein Arm gereckt.
13 Yet the people hath not turned unto him that smote them, neither have they sought the LORD of hosts.
Es kehrte sich das Volk nicht um zu ihm, der es geschlagen, und frug nichts nach dem Herrn der Heeresscharen.
14 Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, palm-branch and rush, in one day.
Drum hieb der Herr von Israel den Kopf und Schweif, Palmzweig und Binse ab, an einem Tage. -
15 The ancient and the honourable man, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.
Der Alte und der Angesehne sind der Kopf, der lügenlehrende Prophet der Schweif.
16 For they that lead this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
Irrleiter sind die Leiter dieses Volkes, verleitet die Geleiteten.
17 Therefore the Lord shall not rejoice over their young men, neither shall he have compassion on their fatherless and widows: for every one is profane and an evil-doer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Drum freut der Herr sich seiner jungen Männer nicht und ist den Waisen und den Witwen nimmer gnädig. Sie alle waren ruchlos, Bösewichte, und jeder Mund sprach frevelhaft. Und also konnte sich sein Zorn nicht legen; noch immer blieb sein Arm gereckt.
18 For wickedness burneth as the fire; it devoureth the briers and thorns: yea, it kindleth in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in thick clouds of smoke.
Wie Feuer brannte Schlechtigkeit, verzehrte Dorn und Distel und loderte im dicht verwachsenen Wald empor, im Rauche wirbelnd.
19 Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land burnt up: the people also are as the fuel of fire; no man spareth his brother.
Verfinstert ward das Land beim Zorn des Herrn der Heeresscharen; das Volk ward wie des Feuers Fraß; der eine schonte nicht des andern.
20 And one shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
Sie fraßen, was zur rechten Seite, verschlangen hungernd, was zur Linken, und wurden doch nicht satt. Ein jeglicher fraß seines Armes Fleisch.
21 Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Manasse Ephraim und Ephraim Manasse, sie miteinander Juda. Und dennoch konnte sich sein Zorn nicht legen; noch immer blieb sein Arm gereckt.
