Isaiah 7
1 And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to war against it; but could not prevail against it.
যখন উষিয়ের পুত্র যোথম, তার পুত্র আহস যিহূদার রাজা ছিলেন, তখন অরামের রাজা রৎসীন ও রমলিয়ের পুত্র ইস্রায়েলের রাজা পেকহ জেরুশালেমের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করার জন্য সমরাভিযান করলেন, কিন্তু তারা তা জয় করতে পারলেন না।
2 And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest are moved with the wind.
এসময় দাউদের কুলকে বলা হল, “অরাম ইফ্রয়িমের সঙ্গে মৈত্রীচুক্তি করেছে” তাই আহস ও তাঁর প্রজাদের হৃদয় কেঁপে উঠল, যেভাবে বাতাসে বনের গাছপালা কেঁপে ওঠে।
3 Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shear-jashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, in the highway of the fuller’s field;
তখন সদাপ্রভু যিশাইয়কে বললেন, “তুমি ও তোমার পুত্র শার-যাশূব বাইরে যাও ও রজকদের মাঠ অভিমুখী রাস্তায়, উচ্চতর পুষ্করিণীর জলপ্রণালীর মুখে, আহসের সঙ্গে সাক্ষাৎ করো।
4 and say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither let thine heart be faint, because of these two tails of smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.
তাকে বলো, ‘আপনি সাবধান হোন, শান্ত থাকুন এবং ভয় পাবেন না। এই দুই ধোঁয়া ওঠা কাঠের অবশিষ্ট অংশ, অর্থাৎ রৎসীন ও অরামের এবং রমলিয়ের পুত্রের ভয়ংকর ক্রোধের জন্য আপনি সাহস হারাবেন না।
5 Because Syria hath counselled evil against thee, Ephraim [also], and the son of Remaliah, saying,
অরাম, ইফ্রয়িম ও রমলিয়ের পুত্র আপনাকে ধ্বংস করার জন্য ষড়যন্ত্র করেছে। তারা বলেছে,
6 Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set up a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeel:
“এসো আমরা যিহূদাকে আক্রমণ করি; এসো আমরা এই দেশকে ছিন্ন-বিচ্ছিন্ন করে নিজেদের মধ্যে ভাগ করি ও টাবিলের পুত্রকে এর উপরে রাজা করি।”
7 thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.
তবুও, সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: “‘এরকম অবস্থা হবে না, এই ঘটনা ঘটবেও না,
8 For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin: and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken in pieces, that it be not a people:
কারণ অরামের মস্তক হল দামাস্কাস, আর দামাস্কাসের মস্তক হল কেবলমাত্র রৎসীন। পঁয়ষট্টি বছরের মধ্যে ইফ্রয়িম এমন ধ্বংস হবে যে, আর জাতি থাকবে না।
9 and the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.
ইফ্রয়িমের মস্তক হল শমরিয়া, আর শমরিয়ার মস্তক হল কেবলমাত্র রমলিয়ের পুত্র। তোমরা যদি বিশ্বাসে অবিচল না থাকো, তোমরা আদৌ দাঁড়াতে পারবে না।’”
10 And the LORD spake again unto Ahaz, saying,
সদাপ্রভু আবার আহসের সঙ্গে কথা বললেন,
11 Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above. (Sheol h7585)
“তুমি তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর কাছে একটি চিহ্ন দেখতে চাও, হয় অধোলোকের নিম্নতম স্থানে অথবা ঊর্ধ্বলোকের ঊর্ধ্বতম স্থানে।” (Sheol h7585)
12 But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.
কিন্তু আহস বললেন, “আমি কোনো চিহ্ন দেখতে চাইব না; আমি সদাপ্রভুর কোনো পরীক্ষা নেব না।”
13 And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; is it a small thing for you to weary men, that ye will weary my God also?
তখন যিশাইয় বললেন, “দাউদের কুলের লোকেরা, এখন তোমরা শোনো! মানুষের ধৈর্যের পরীক্ষা নেওয়াই কি যথেষ্ট নয়? তোমরা কি আমার ঈশ্বরেরও ধৈর্যের পরীক্ষা নেবে?
14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
সেই কারণে প্রভু স্বয়ং তোমাদের এক চিহ্ন দেবেন: এক কুমারী-কন্যা গর্ভবতী হবে ও এক পুত্রসন্তানের জন্ম দেবে এবং তাঁর নাম ইম্মানুয়েল রাখবে।
15 Butter and honey shall he eat, when he knoweth to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
মন্দকে অগ্রাহ্য করার ও ভালোকে বেছে নেওয়ার পর্যাপ্ত জ্ঞান না হওয়া পর্যন্ত, সেই বালকটি দুধ ও দই খাবে,
16 For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land whose two kings thou abhorrest shall be forsaken.
কিন্তু সে মন্দকে অগ্রাহ্য করার ও ভালোকে বেছে নেওয়ার জ্ঞান হওয়ার পূর্বেই, যাদের আপনি ভয় করেন, ওই দুই রাজার দেশ জনশূন্য হয়ে পড়ে থাকবে।
17 The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father’s house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; [even] the king of Assyria.
ইফ্রয়িম যিহূদা থেকে বিচ্ছিন্ন হওয়ার সময় অবধি, যা কখনও হয়নি, সদাপ্রভু তোমার প্রতি, তোমার প্রজাদের প্রতি ও তোমার পিতৃকুলের প্রতি সেরকম সময় উপস্থিত করবেন—তিনি আসিরিয়ার রাজাকে নিয়ে আসবেন।”
18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.
সেদিন, সদাপ্রভু মিশরে নীল অববাহিকা থেকে মাছি ও আসিরীয়দের দেশ থেকে মৌমাছিদের শিস্ দিয়ে ডাকবেন।
19 And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all pastures.
তারা এসে সমস্ত খাড়া উপত্যকার মধ্যে, পাহাড়ের ফাটলের মধ্যে, সমস্ত কাঁটাঝোপ ও মাঠে মাঠে বসবে।
20 In that day shall the Lord shave with a razor that is hired, [which is] in the parts beyond the River, [even] with the king of Assyria, the head and the hair of the feet: and it shall also consume the beard.
সেদিন, প্রভু তোমার মাথার চুল ও পায়ের লোম কামানোর জন্য এবং তোমার দাড়িও কামিয়ে দেওয়ার জন্য ইউফ্রেটিস নদীর ওপার থেকে একটি ক্ষুর, অর্থাৎ আসিরীয় রাজাকে ব্যবহার করবেন।
21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall nourish a young cow, and two sheep;
সেদিন, এমন হবে যে, কোনো মানুষ যদি একটি বকনা-বাছুর ও দুটি মেষ পোষে,
22 and it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the midst of the land.
তাহলে তারা এত বেশি দুধ দেবে যে, তারা সেই দুধের আধিক্যে দই খাবে। দেশে অবশিষ্ট যারাই থাকবে, তারা দই ও মধু খাবে।
23 And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, shall even be for briers and thorns.
সেদিন, যেখানে যেখানে এক হাজার রৌপ্যমুদ্রা মূল্যের এক হাজারটি দ্রাক্ষালতা ছিল, সেখানে হবে কেবলমাত্র কাঁটাগাছ ও শেয়ালকাঁটার জঙ্গল।
24 With arrows and with bow shall one come thither; because all the land shall be briers and thorns.
লোকেরা সেখানে তিরধনুক নিয়ে যাবে, কারণ সমস্ত দেশ শেয়ালকাঁটা ও কাঁটাঝোপের জঙ্গলে ভরে থাকবে।
25 And all the hills that were digged with the mattock; thou shalt not come thither for fear of briers and thorns, but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of sheep.
যে সমস্ত পাহাড়ি এলাকা কোদাল দিয়ে চাষ করা হবে, তোমার সেখানকার শেয়ালকাঁটা ও কাঁটাঝোপের ভয়ে সেখানে যাবে না; সেগুলি হবে গৃহপালিত পশুর চারণভূমি ও মেষাদির ছুটে বেড়ানোর স্থান।
