Isaiah 66
1 Thus saith the LORD; The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: what manner of house will ye build unto me? and what place shall be my rest?
主はこう言われる、「天はわが位、地はわが足台である。あなたがたはわたしのためにどんな家を建てようとするのか。またどんな所がわが休み所となるのか」。
2 For all these things hath mine hand made, and so all these things came to be, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and that trembleth at my word.
主は言われる、「わが手はすべてこれらの物を造った。これらの物はことごとくわたしのものである。しかし、わたしが顧みる人はこれである。すなわち、へりくだって心悔い、わが言葉に恐れおののく者である。
3 He that killeth an ox is as he that slayeth a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as he that breaketh a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, [as he that offereth] swine’s blood; he that burneth frankincense, as he that blesseth an idol: yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations;
牛をほふる者は、また人を殺す者、小羊を犠牲とする者は、また犬をくびり殺す者、供え物をささげる者は、また豚の血をささげる者、乳香を記念としてささげる者は、また偶像をほめる者である。これはおのが道を選び、その心は憎むべきものを楽しむ。
4 I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did that which was evil in mine eyes, and chose that wherein I delighted not.
わたしもまた彼らのために悩みを選び、彼らの恐れるところのものを彼らに臨ませる。これは、わたしが呼んだときに答える者なく、わたしが語ったときに聞くことをせず、わたしの目に悪い事を行い、わたしの好まなかった事を選んだからである」。
5 Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word: Your brethren that hate you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, have said, Let the LORD be glorified, that we may see your joy; but they shall be ashamed.
あなたがた、主の言葉に恐れおののく者よ、主の言葉を聞け、「あなたがたの兄弟たちはあなたがたを憎み、あなたがたをわが名のために追い出して言った、『願わくは主がその栄光をあらわしてわれわれにあなたがたの喜びを見させよ』と。しかし彼らは恥を受ける。
6 A voice of tumult from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompence to his enemies.
聞けよ、町から起る騒ぎを。宮から聞える声を。主がその敵に報復される声を。
7 Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child.
シオンは産みの苦しみをなす前に産み、その苦しみの来ない前に男子を産んだ。
8 Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? shall a nation be brought forth at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
だれがこのような事を聞いたか、だれがこのような事どもを見たか。一つの国は一日の苦しみで生れるだろうか。一つの国民はひと時に生れるだろうか。しかし、シオンは産みの苦しみをするやいなやその子らを産んだ。
9 Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I that cause to bring forth shut [the womb]? saith thy God.
わたしが出産に臨ませて産ませないことがあろうか」と主は言われる。「わたしは産ませる者なのに胎をとざすであろうか」とあなたの神は言われる。
10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn over her:
「すべてエルサレムを愛する者よ、彼女と共に喜べ、彼女のゆえに楽しめ。すべて彼女のために悲しむ者よ、彼女と共に喜び楽しめ。
11 that ye may suck and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.
あなたがたは慰めを与えるエルサレムの乳ぶさから乳を吸って飽くことができ、またその豊かな栄えから飲んで楽しむことができるからだ」。
12 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream, and ye shall suck [thereof]; ye shall be borne upon the side, and shall be dandled upon the knees.
主はこう言われる、「見よ、わたしは川のように彼女に繁栄を与え、みなぎる流れのように、もろもろの国の富を与える。あなたがたは乳を飲み、腰に負われ、ひざの上であやされる。
13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
母のその子を慰めるように、わたしもあなたがたを慰める。あなたがたはエルサレムで慰めを得る。
14 And ye shall see [it], and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like the tender grass: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and he will have indignation against his enemies.
あなたがたは見て、心喜び、あなたがたの骨は若草のように栄える。主の手はそのしもべらと共にあり、その憤りはその敵にむかっていることを知る。
15 For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and his chariots shall be like the whirlwind; to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
見よ、主は火の中にあらわれて来られる。その車はつむじ風のようだ。激しい怒りをもってその憤りをもらし、火の炎をもって責められる。
16 For by fire will the LORD plead, and by his sword, with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.
主は火をもって、またつるぎをもって、すべての人にさばきを行われる。主に殺される者は多い」。
17 They that sanctify themselves and purify themselves [to go] unto the gardens, behind one in the midst, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse; they shall come to an end together, saith the LORD.
「みずからを聖別し、みずからを清めて園に行き、その中にあるものに従い、豚の肉、憎むべき物およびねずみを食う者はみな共に絶えうせる」と主は言われる。
18 For I [know] their works and their thoughts: [the time] cometh, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and shall see my glory.
「わたしは彼らのわざと、彼らの思いとを知っている。わたしは来て、すべての国民と、もろもろのやからとを集める。彼らは来て、わが栄光を見る。
19 And I will set a sign among them, and I will send such as escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the nations.
わたしは彼らの中に一つのしるしを立てて、のがれた者をもろもろの国、すなわちタルシシ、よく弓をひくプトおよびルデ、トバル、ヤワン、またわが名声を聞かず、わが栄光を見ない遠くの海沿いの国々につかわす。彼らはわが栄光をもろもろの国民の中に伝える。
20 And they shall bring all your brethren out of all the nations for an offering unto the LORD, upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring their offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.
彼らはイスラエルの子らが清い器に供え物を盛って主の宮に携えて来るように、あなたがたの兄弟をことごとくもろもろの国の中から馬、車、かご、騾馬、らくだに乗せて、わが聖なる山エルサレムにこさせ、主の供え物とする」と主は言われる。
21 And of them also will I take for priests [and] for Levites, saith the LORD.
「わたしはまた彼らの中から人を選んで祭司とし、レビびととする」と主は言われる。
22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
「わたしが造ろうとする新しい天と、新しい地がわたしの前にながくとどまるように、あなたの子孫と、あなたの名はながくとどまる」と主は言われる。
23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
「新月ごとに、安息日ごとに、すべての人はわが前に来て礼拝する」と主は言われる。
24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.
「彼らは出て、わたしにそむいた人々のしかばねを見る。そのうじは死なず、その火は消えることがない。彼らはすべての人に忌みきらわれる」。
