Isaiah 55
1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Vous tous qui avez soif, venez vers les eaux; et vous qui n’avez pas d’argent, hâtez-vous, achetez et mangez; venez, achetez sans argent et sans aucun échange du vin et du lait.
2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
Pourquoi dépensez-vous de l’argent à ce qui n’est pas du pain, et votre travail à ce qui ne peut vous rassasier? Ecoutez-moi avec une grande attention, et mangez une bonne nourriture, et votre âme se délectera en s’en engraissant.
3 Incline your ear, and come unto me; hear, and your soul shall live: and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
Inclinez votre oreille, et venez à moi; écoutez, et votre âme vivra, et je ferai avec vous un pacte éternel qui montrera véritables les miséricordes promises à David.
4 Behold, I have given him for a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander to the peoples.
Voilà que je l’ai donné pour témoin aux peuples, pour chef et pour maître aux nations.
5 Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and a nation that knew not thee shall run unto thee, because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.
Voilà que tu appelleras une nation que tu ne connaissais pas; et des nations qui ne t’ont pas connu vers toi accourront, à cause du Seigneur ton Dieu, et du saint d’Israël qui t’a glorifié.
6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Cherchez le Seigneur, tandis qu’on peut le trouver, invoquez-le tandis qu’il est proche.
7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Que l’impie abandonne sa voie, et l’homme inique ses pensées, et qu’il retourne au Seigneur, et il aura pitié de lui; et à notre Dieu, parce qu’il pardonne beaucoup.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
Car mes pensées ne sont pas vos pensées, ni vos voies mes voies, dit le Seigneur.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Parce qu’autant les cieux sont élevés au-dessus de la terre, autant sont élevées mes voies au-dessus de vos voies, et mes pensées au-dessus de vos pensées.
10 For as the rain cometh down and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, and giveth seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
Et de même que la pluie et la neige descendent du ciel et n’y retournent plus, mais qu’elles abreuvent la terre, la pénètrent, la font germer, et qu’elle donnent la semence au semeur, et le pain à celui qui le mange;
11 so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Ainsi sera ma parole qui sortira de ma bouche; elle ne reviendra pas à moi sans effet; mais elle fera tout ce que j’ai voulu, et elle réussira dans toutes les choses pour lesquelles je l’aurai envoyée.
12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
Parce que dans la joie vous sortirez, et dans la paix vous serez ramenés; les montagnes et les collines chanteront devant vous des louanges, et tous les arbres du pays battront des mains.
13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
Au lieu du nard sauvage s’élèvera le sapin, et au lieu de l’ortie croîtra le myrte; et le nom du Seigneur deviendra un signe éternel, qui ne sera pas enlevé.
