Isaiah 42
1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; my chosen, in whom my soul delighteth: I have put my spirit upon him; he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
Eis aqui meu servo, a quem sustento; meu escolhido, [em quem] minha alma se agrada. Sobre ele eu pus o meu Espírito; ele trará justiça às nações.
2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
Ele não gritará, nem levantará [seu clamor]; ele não fará ouvir sua voz nas ruas.
3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment in truth.
A cana rachada ele não quebrará, nem apagará o pavio que fumega; com a verdade ele trará justiça.
4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth; and the isles shall wait for his law.
Ele não fraquejará, nem será esmagado, até que ponha a justiça na terra; e os litorais esperarão a sua doutrina.
5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them forth; he that spread abroad the earth and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
Assim diz Deus, o SENHOR, que criou os céus, e os esticou; estendeu a terra, e a tudo quanto ela produz; que dá respiração ao povo que nela [habita], e espírito aos que nela andam.
6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
Eu, o SENHOR, te chamei em justiça, e te tomarei pela mão. E eu te guardarei, e te darei como pacto para o povo e luz para as nações;
7 to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
Para abrir os olhos cegos, para tirar da prisão os presos, [tirar] do cárcere os que habitam em trevas.
8 I am the LORD; that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise unto graven images.
Eu, EU-SOU; este é o meu nome! Não darei a minha glória a outro, nem o meu louvor às imagens de escultura.
9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.
Eis que as coisas anteriores já aconteceram; e as novas eu [vos] anuncio; e antes que surjam, [delas] eu vos informo.
10 Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth; ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein, the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.
Cantai ao SENHOR um cântico novo, um louvor a ele desde o limite da terra; vós que navegais pelo mar, e tudo quanto nele há; vós terras do litoral e seus moradores.
11 Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up [their voice], the villages that Kedar doth inhabit; let the inhabitants of Sela sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.
Levantem [a voz] o deserto e suas cidades, com as aldeias que Quedar habita; cantem os que habitam nas rochas, [e] gritem de alegria do cume dos montes.
12 Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands.
Deem glória ao SENHOR, e anunciem louvor a ele nas terras do litoral.
13 The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man; he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, he shall shout aloud; he shall do mightily against his enemies.
O SENHOR sairá como guerreiro, como homem de guerra despertará o [seu] zelo; ele gritará, e fará grade ruído; e dominará a seus inimigos.
14 I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: [now] will I cry out like a travailing woman; I will gasp and pant together.
Por muito tempo fiquei calado, quieto estive, [e] me retive; [mas agora] darei gritos como a que está de parto, suspirando e juntamente ofegando.
15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and will dry up the pools.
Aos montes e morros tornarei em deserto, e toda sua erva farei secar; e tornarei aos rios em ilhas, e as lagoas secarei.
16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not; in paths that they know not will I lead them: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things will I do, and I will not forsake them.
E guiarei aos cegos por um caminho que nunca conheceram; eu os farei caminhar pelas veredas que não conheciam; tornarei as trevas em luz perante eles, e as coisas tortas [farei] direitas; estas coisas lhes farei, e nunca os desampararei.
17 They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say unto molten images, Ye are our gods.
[Mas] serão conduzidos para trás e se envergonharão os que confiam em imagens de escultura, [e] dizem às imagens de fundição: Vós sois nossos deuses.
18 Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.
Surdos, ouvi; e vós cegos, olhai para que possais ver.
19 Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I send? who is blind as he that is at peace [with me], and blind as the LORD’S servant?
Quem é cego, senão o meu servo? Ou surdo, como o meu mensageiro, a quem envio? Quem é cego como o aliançado, e cego como o servo do SENHOR?
20 Thou seest many things, but thou observest not; his ears are open, but he heareth not.
Tu vês muitas coisas, porém não as guardas; mesmo abrindo os ouvidos, contudo nada ouve.
21 It pleased the LORD, for his righteousness’ sake, to magnify the law, and make it honourable.
O SENHOR se agradou, por causa de sua justiça, em engrandecer [sua] lei, e em fazê [-la] gloriosa.
22 But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.
Mas [este] é um povo roubado e saqueado; todos estão enlaçados em covas, e escondidos em cárceres; são postos como despojos, e ninguém há que os resgate; estão como [objetos] de roubo, e ninguém diz “Restitui [-os]”.
23 Who is there among you that will give ear to this? that will hearken and hear for the time to come?
Quem dentre vós dá ouvidos a isto? [Quem] presta atenção e ouve o que há de ser no futuro?
24 Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD? he against whom we have sinned, and in whose ways they would not walk, neither were they obedient unto his law.
Quem entregou a Jacó como roubo, e a Israel a ladrões? Por acaso não foi o SENHOR, aquele contra quem pecamos? Pois não queriam andar em seus caminhos, e não deram ouvidos à sua lei.
25 Therefore he poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle; and it set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.
Por isso ele derramou sobre eles o furor de sua ira, e a força da guerra; e os pôs em labaredas ao redor; porém [ainda assim] não entenderam; e ele os pôs para queimar, porém [ainda assim] não puseram [nisso] o coração.
