Isaiah 40

1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.

Παρηγορείτε, παρηγορείτε τον λαόν μου, λέγει ο Θεός σας.

2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned; that she hath received of the LORD’S hand double for all her sins.

Λαλήσατε παρηγορητικά προς την Ιερουσαλήμ, και φωνήσατε προς αυτήν, ότι ο καιρός της ταπεινώσεως αυτής επληρώθη, ότι η ανομία αυτής συνεχωρήθη· διότι έλαβεν εκ της χειρός Κυρίου διπλάσιον διά πάσας τας αμαρτίας αυτής.

3 The voice of one that crieth, Prepare ye in the wilderness the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Φωνή βοώντος εν τη ερήμω, Ετοιμάσατε την οδόν του Κυρίου. ευθείας κάμετε εν τη ερήμω τας τρίβους του Θεού ημών.

4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

Πάσα φάραγξ θέλει υψωθή και παν όρος και βουνός θέλει ταπεινωθή· και τα σκολιά θέλουσι γείνει ευθέα· και οι τραχείς τόποι ομαλοί·

5 and the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

και η δόξα του Κυρίου θέλει φανερωθή και πάσα σαρξ ομού θέλει ιδεί· διότι το στόμα του Κυρίου ελάλησε.

6 The voice of one saying, Cry. And one said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:

Φωνή λέγουσα, Φώνησον· και είπε, Τι να φωνήσω; πάσα σαρξ είναι χόρτος και πάσα η δόξα αυτής ως άνθος του αγρού.

7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; because the breath of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.

Ο χόρτος εξηράνθη, το άνθος εμαράνθη· διότι πνεύμα Κυρίου έπνευσεν επ' αυτό· χόρτος τη αληθεία είναι ο λαός.

8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

Ο χόρτος εξηράνθη, το άνθος εμαράνθη· ο λόγος όμως του Θεού ημών μένει εις τον αιώνα.

9 O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion, get thee up into the high mountain: O thou that tellest good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold, your God!

Συ, ο φέρων εις την Σιών αγαθάς αγγελίας, ανάβα εις το όρος το υψηλόν· συ, ο φέρων αγαθάς αγγελίας εις την Ιερουσαλήμ, ύψωσον ισχυρώς την φωνήν σου· ύψωσον· μη φοβού· ειπέ προς τας πόλεις του Ιούδα, Ιδού, ο Θεός υμών.

10 Behold, the Lord GOD will come as a mighty one, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his recompence before him.

Ιδού, Κύριος ο Θεός θέλει ελθεί μετά δυνάμεως και ο βραχίων αυτού θέλει εξουσιάζει δι' αυτόν· ιδού, ο μισθός αυτού είναι μετ' αυτού και η αμοιβή αυτού ενώπιον αυτού.

11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd, he shall gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom, [and] shall gently lead those that give suck.

Θέλει βοσκήσει το ποίμνιον αυτού ως ποιμήν· θέλει συνάξει τα αρνία διά του βραχίονος αυτού και βαστάσει εν τω κόλπω αυτού· και θέλει οδηγεί τα θηλάζοντα.

12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

Τις εμέτρησε τα ύδατα εν τω κοιλώματι της χειρός αυτού και εστάθμισε τους ουρανούς με την σπιθαμήν και συμπεριέλαβεν εν μέτρω το χώμα της γης και εζύγισε τα όρη διά στατήρος και τους λόφους διά πλάστιγγος;

13 Who hath directed the spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?

Τις εστάθμισε το πνεύμα του Κυρίου ή έγεινε σύμβουλος αυτού και, εδίδαξεν αυτόν;

14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?

Μετά τίνος συνεβουλεύθη, και τις εσυνέτισεν αυτόν και εδίδαξεν αυτόν την οδόν της κρίσεως και παρέδωκεν εις αυτόν επιστήμην και έδειξεν εις αυτόν την οδόν της συνέσεως;

15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.

Ιδού, τα έθνη είναι ως σανίς από κάδου και λογίζονται ως η λεπτή σκόνη της πλάστιγγος· ιδού, η μετατοπίζει τας νήσους ως σκόνην.

16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.

Και ο Λίβανος δεν είναι ικανός εις καύσιν ουδέ τα ζώα αυτού ικανά εις ολοκαύτωμα.

17 All the nations are as nothing before him; they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

Πάντα τα έθνη ενώπιον αυτού είναι ως μηδέν· λογίζονται παρ' αυτώ ολιγώτερον παρά το μηδέν και την ματαιότητα.

18 To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?

Με τίνα λοιπόν θέλετε εξομοιώσει τον Θεόν; ή τι ομοίωμα θέλετε προσαρμόσει εις αυτόν;

19 The graven image, a workman melted [it], and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth [for it] silver chains.

Ο τεχνίτης χωνεύει εικόνα γλυπτήν, και ο χρυσοχόος εκτείνει χρυσόν επ' αυτήν και χύνει αργυράς αλύσεις.

20 He that is too impoverished for [such] an oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to set up a graven image, that shall not be moved.

Ο πτωχός κάμνων προσφοράν εκλέγει ξύλον άσηπτον· και ζητεί εις εαυτόν επιδέξιον τεχνίτην, διά να κατασκευάση εικόνα γλυπτήν μη σαλευομένην.

21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?

Δεν εγνωρίσατε; δεν ηκούσατε; δεν ανηγγέλθη προς εσάς εξ αρχής; δεν ενοήσατε από καταβολής της γης;

22 [It is] he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

Αυτός είναι ο καθήμενος επί τον γύρον της γης και οι κάτοικοι αυτής είναι ως ακρίδες· ο εκτείνων τους ουρανούς ως παραπέτασμα και εξαπλόνων αυτούς ως σκηνήν προς κατοίκησιν·

23 that bringeth princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.

ο φέρων τους ηγεμόνας εις το μηδέν και καθιστών ως ματαιότητα τους κριτάς της γης.

24 Yea, they have not been planted; yea, they have not been sown; yea, their stock hath not taken root in the earth: moreover he bloweth upon them, and they wither, and the whirlwind taketh them away as stubble.

Αλλ' ουδέ θέλουσι φυτευθή· αλλ' ουδέ θέλουσι σπαρθή· αλλ' ουδέ θέλει ριζωθή εν τη γη το στέλεχος αυτών· μόνον να πνεύση επ' αυτούς, θέλουσι πάραυτα ξηρανθή και ο ανεμοστρόβιλος θέλει αναρπάσει αυτούς ως άχυρον.

25 To whom then will ye liken me, that I should be equal [to him]? saith the Holy One.

Με τίνα λοιπόν θέλετε με εξομοιώσει και θέλω εξισωθή; λέγει ο Άγιος.

26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see who hath created these, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by name; by the greatness of his might, and for that he is strong in power, not one is lacking.

Σηκώσατε υψηλά τους οφθαλμούς σας και ιδέτε, τις εποίησε ταύτα; Ο εξάγων το στράτευμα αυτών κατά αριθμόν· ο ονομαστί καλών ταύτα πάντα εν τη μεγαλειότητι της δυνάμεως αυτού, διότι είναι ισχυρός εις εξουσίαν· δεν λείπει ουδέν.

27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed away from my God?

Διά τι λέγεις, Ιακώβ, και λαλείς, Ισραήλ, Η οδός μου είναι κεκρυμμένη από του Κυρίου και η κρίσις μου παραμελείται υπό του Θεού μου;

28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard? the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary; there is no searching of his understanding.

Δεν εγνώρισας; δεν ήκουσας, ότι ο αιώνιος Θεός, ο Κύριος, ο Ποιητής των άκρων της γης, δεν ατονεί και δεν αποκάμνει; δεν εξιχνιάζεται η φρόνησις αυτού.

29 He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might he increaseth strength.

Δίδει ισχύν εις τους ητονημένους και αυξάνει την δύναμιν εις τους αδυνάτους.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

Και οι νέοι θέλουσιν ατονήσει και αποκάμει, και οι εκλεκτοί νέοι θέλουσιν αδυνατήσει παντάπασιν·

31 but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.

αλλ' οι προσμένοντες τον Κύριον θέλουσιν ανανεώσει την δύναμιν αυτών· θέλουσιν αναβή με πτέρυγας ως αετοί· θέλουσι τρέξει και δεν θέλουσιν αποκάμει· θέλουσι περιπατήσει και δεν θέλουσιν ατονήσει.
