Isaiah 38
1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.
En aquellos días Ezequías estaba enfermo y a punto de morir. El profeta Isaías, hijo de Amoz, se acercó a él y le dijo: “Yahvé dice: ‘Pon en orden tu casa, porque morirás y no vivirás’”.
2 Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD,
Entonces Ezequías volvió su rostro hacia la pared y oró a Yahvé,
3 and said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
y dijo: “Acuérdate ahora, Yahvé, te lo ruego, de cómo he andado delante de ti con verdad y con un corazón perfecto, y he hecho lo que es bueno a tus ojos.” Entonces Ezequías lloró amargamente.
4 Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying,
Entonces vino la palabra de Yahvé a Isaías, diciendo:
5 Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
“Ve y dile a Ezequías: ‘Yahvé, el Dios de David, tu padre, dice: “He escuchado tu oración. He visto tus lágrimas. He aquí que añadiré quince años a tu vida.
6 And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.
Te libraré a ti y a esta ciudad de la mano del rey de Asiria, y defenderé esta ciudad.
7 And this shall he the sign unto thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that he hath spoken:
Esta será la señal de Yahvé para ti, de que Yahvé hará esto que ha dicho.
8 behold, I will cause the shadow on the steps, which is gone down on the dial of Ahaz with the sun, to return backward ten steps. So the sun returned ten steps on the dial whereon it was gone down.
He aquí que yo haré que la sombra del reloj de sol, que se ha puesto en el reloj de sol de Acaz con el sol, regrese diez pasos hacia atrás.”’ Así que el sol volvió diez pasos sobre el reloj de sol en el que se había puesto.
9 The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness.
La escritura de Ezequías, rey de Judá, cuando estuvo enfermo y se recuperó de su enfermedad:
10 I said, In the noontide of my days I shall go into the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years. (Sheol h7585)
Dije: “En la mitad de mi vida voy a las puertas del Seol. Estoy privado del residuo de mis años”. (Sheol h7585)
11 I said, I shall not see the LORD, [even] the LORD in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.
Dije: “No veré a Yah, Yah en la tierra de los vivos. No veré más al hombre con los habitantes del mundo.
12 Mine age is removed, and is carried away from me as a shepherd’s tent: I have rolled up like a weaver my life; he will cut me off from the loom: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.
Mi vivienda se ha retirado, y se aleja de mí como la tienda de un pastor. He enrollado mi vida como una tejedora. Me cortará el telar. Desde el día hasta la noche me harás acabar.
13 I quieted [myself] until morning; as a lion, so he breaketh all my bones: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.
Esperé pacientemente hasta la mañana. Rompe todos mis huesos como un león. Desde el día hasta la noche me harás acabar.
14 Like a swallow [or] a crane, so did I chatter; I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail [with looking] upward; O LORD, I am oppressed, be thou my surety.
Parloteaba como una golondrina o una grulla. Gemí como una paloma. Mis ojos se debilitan mirando hacia arriba. Señor, estoy oprimido. Sé mi seguridad”.
15 What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it: I shall go softly all my years because of the bitterness of my soul.
¿Qué voy a decir? Tanto ha hablado conmigo, como lo ha hecho él mismo. Caminaré con cuidado todos mis años por la angustia de mi alma.
16 O Lord, by these things men live, and wholly therein is the life of my spirit: wherefore recover thou me, and make me to live.
Señor, de estas cosas viven los hombres; y mi espíritu encuentra vida en todos ellos. Me restableces y me haces vivir.
17 Behold, [it was] for [my] peace [that] I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption; for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.
He aquí que por la paz he tenido grandes angustias, pero tú, por amor a mi alma, la has liberado del pozo de la corrupción; porque has echado todos mis pecados a tus espaldas.
18 For the grave cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. (Sheol h7585)
Porque el Seol no puede alabarte. La muerte no puede celebrarlo. Los que bajan al pozo no pueden esperar su verdad. (Sheol h7585)
19 The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.
El que vive, el que vive, te alabará, como yo lo hago hoy. El padre dará a conocer su verdad a los hijos.
20 The LORD is [ready] to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD.
El Señor me salvará. Por eso cantaremos mis canciones con instrumentos de cuerda todos los días de nuestra vida en la casa de Yahvé.
21 Now Isaiah had said, Let them take a cake of figs, and lay it for a plaister upon the boil, and he shall recover.
Isaías había dicho: “Que tomen una torta de higos y la pongan como cataplasma sobre el forúnculo, y se recuperará.”
22 Hezekiah also had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?
También Ezequías había dicho: “¿Cuál es la señal de que subiré a la casa de Yahvé?”
