Isaiah 36
1 Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fenced cities of Judah and took them.
১রাজা হিষ্কিয়ের রাজত্বের চৌদ্দ বছরের দিন অশূরীয়ার রাজা সনহেরীব যিহূদার সমস্ত দেয়াল-ঘেরা শহরগুলো আত্রুমণ করে দখল করে নিলেন।
2 And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem unto king Hezekiah with a great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller’s field.
২তারপর অশূরীয়ার রাজা লাখিশ থেকে অধিপতিকে বড় একদল সৈন্য দিয়ে যিরূশালেমে রাজা হিষ্কিয়ের কাছে পাঠালেন। তিনি অপরের পুকুরের নালীর কাছে, ধোপাদের রাজপথের কাছে পৌছালেন।
3 Then came forth unto him Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
৩তখন হিল্কিয়ের ছেলে ইলীয়াকীম যিনি পরিবারের উপরে ছিল এবং লেখক শিবন ও লেখক আসফের ছেলে যোয়াহ তাঁর সাথে দেখা করতে গেলো।
4 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, what confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
৪রবশাকি তাঁদের বললেন, হিষ্কিয়কে বলো যে মহান রাজা, অশূরীয়ার রাজা বলছেন, হিষ্কিয় তোমার বিশ্বাসের উত্স কি?
5 I say, [thy] counsel and strength for the war are but vain words: now on whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?
৫আমি বলি, তোমার যুদ্ধের জন্য পরামর্শ এবং শক্তি আছে। এখন তুমি কার উপর নির্ভর করেছ? কে আমার বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করার জন্য তোমাকে উত্সাহ দিয়েছে?
6 Behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust on him.
৬তুমি নির্ভর করছ সেই থেঁৎলে যাওয়া হাঁটার লাঠির উপর, কিন্তু মিশরের উপর নির্ভর করবে তার হাত বিদ্ধ করে। মিশরের রাজা ফরৌণের উপর যারা নির্ভর করে তাদের প্রতি তাই করে।
7 But if thou say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?
৭কিন্তু তোমরা যদি আমাকে বল, “আমরা আমাদের ঈশ্বরের সদাপ্রভুর উপরে নির্ভর করি,” তবে কি তিনি সেই ঈশ্বর না যাঁর পূজার উঁচু স্থান ও বেদীগুলো হিষ্কিয় ধ্বংস করেছে এবং যিহূদা ও যিরূশালেমের লোকদের বলেছে, “তোমাকে যিরূশালেমের এই বেদির সামনে তাদের আরাধনা করতে হবে?
8 Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
৮এখন তাই, তোমরা আমার হয়ে তোমাদের মনিব অশূর রাজার থেকে ভালো প্রমাণ করতে চাই, আমি তোমাকে দুই হাজার ঘোড়া দেব, তুমি তাদের জন্য ভালো অশ্বারোহী পেতে সক্ষম হও।
9 How then canst thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
৯তবে কেমন করে আমার মনিবের দাসেদের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে যে ছোট সেনাপতি তাকেই তুমি কেমন করে বাধা দেবে, তুমি মিশরের রথ ও অশ্বারোহী উপর নির্ভর করছ?
10 And am I now come up without the LORD against this land to destroy it? The LORD said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
১০এখন তাই, সদাপ্রভুর কাছ থেকে অনুমতি না নিয়েই এই দেশ আক্রমণ ও ধ্বংস করতে এসেছি? এই দেশের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করে তা ধ্বংস করতে সদাপ্রভু নিজেই আমাকে বলেছেন।”
11 Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not to us in the Jews’ language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
১১তখন হিস্কিয়ের ছেলে ইলীয়াকীমের রবশাকিকে, শিবন ও যোয়াহ বলল, “তোমার দাসদের কাছে তুমি দয়া করে অরামীয় ভাষায় কথা বলুন, কারণ আমরা তা বুঝতে পারি। দেয়ালের উপরের লোকদের সামনে তুমি আমাদের কাছে ইব্রীয় ভাষায় কথা বলবেন না।”
12 But Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? [hath he] not [sent me] to the men that sit upon the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?
১২কিন্তু রবশাকি বলল, “আমার মনিব কি কেবল তোমাদের মনিব ও তোমাদের কাছে এই সব কথা বলতে আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন? দেয়ালের উপরে ঐ সব লোকেরা, যাদের তোমাদের মত নিজের নিজের মল ও প্রস্রাব খেতে হবে তাদের কাছেও কি বলে পাঠান নি?”
13 Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
১৩তারপর রবশাকি দাঁড়িয়ে জোরে জোরে ইব্রীয় ভাষায় বললেন, তোমরা মহান রাজার, অশূরীয়ার রাজার কথা শোন।
14 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you; for he shall not be able to deliver you:
১৪রাজা বলছেন যে, হিষ্কিয় যেন তোমাদের না ঠকায়, কারণ সে তোমাদের রক্ষা করতে পারবে না।
15 neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us; this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
১৫হিষ্কিয় যেন এই কথা বলে সদাপ্রভুর উপর তোমাদের বিশ্বাস না জন্মায় যে, সদাপ্রভু আমাদের উদ্ধার করবেন; এই শহর অশূরীয়ার রাজার হাতে তুলে দেওয়া হবে না।
16 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern:
১৬তোমরা হিষ্কিয়ের কথা শুনো না, অশূরীয়ার রাজা বলছেন, তোমরা আমার সাথে সন্ধি কর এবং বের হয়ে আমার কাছে এস। তাহলে তোমরা প্রত্যেকে তার নিজের আঙ্গুর ও ডুমুর গাছ থেকে ফল আর নিজের কুয়ো থেকে জল খেতে পারবে।
17 until I come and take you away to a laud like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards.
১৭আমি এসে তোমাদের নিজের দেশের মত আর এক দেশে তোমাদের নিয়ে যাব। সেই দেশ হল শস্য ও নতুন আঙ্গুর-রসের দেশ, রুটি ও আঙ্গুর ক্ষেতের দেশ।
18 Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, The LORD will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
১৮হিষ্কিয় তোমাদের বিপথে চালাবার জন্য যেন না বলে, সদাপ্রভু তোমাদের রক্ষা করবেন। অন্যান্য জাতির কোন দেবতা কি অশূরীয়ার রাজার হাত থেকে তার দেশ রক্ষা করতে পেরেছে?
19 Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim? and have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
১৯হমাৎ ও অর্পদের দেবতারা কোথায়? কোথায় সফর্বয়িমের দেবতারা? তারা কি আমার শক্তি থেকে শমরিয়াকে রক্ষা করতে পেরেছে?
20 Who are they among all the gods of these countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
২০সব দেশের দেব-দেবতাদের সমস্তর মধ্যে কে আমার হাত থেকে নিজের দেশকে রক্ষা করেছে? তাহলে সদাপ্রভু কি করে আমার হাত থেকে যিরূশালেমকে রক্ষা করবেন?
21 But they held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
২১লোকেরা কিন্তু চুপ করে থাকল, কোন উত্তর দিল না, কারণ রাজা হিষ্কিয় কোন উত্তর দিতে তাদের নিষেধ করেছিলেন।
22 Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, that was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
২২তখন রাজবাড়ীর পরিচালক হিল্কিয়ের ছেলে ইলীয়াকীম, রাজার লেখক শিবন ও ইতিহাস লেখক আসফের ছেলে যোয়াহ তাঁদের কাপড় ছিঁড়ে হিষ্কিয়ের কাছে গেলেন এবং রবশাকির সমস্ত কথা তাঁকে জানালেন।
