Isaiah 34

1 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye peoples: let the earth hear, and the fulness thereof; the world, and all things that come forth of it

¡Acérquense, naciones, para escuchar! Escuchad, pueblos. Que oiga la tierra y todo lo que contiene, el mundo, y todo lo que proviene de él.

2 For the LORD hath indignation against all the nations, and fury against all their host: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.

Porque Yahvé está enfurecido contra todas las naciones, y enojado con todos sus ejércitos. Los ha destruido por completo. Los ha entregado a la matanza.

3 Their slain also shall be cast out, and the stink of their carcases shall come up, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.

Sus muertos también serán expulsados, y subirá el hedor de sus cadáveres. Las montañas se derretirán en su sangre.

4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fade away, as the leaf fadeth from off the vine, and as a fading [leaf] from the fig tree.

Todo el ejército del cielo será disuelto. El cielo se enrollará como un pergamino, y todos sus ejércitos se desvanecerán, como se desvanece una hoja de una vid o de una higuera.

5 For my sword hath drunk its fill in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Edom, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.

Porque mi espada ha bebido hasta la saciedad en el cielo. He aquí que descenderá sobre Edom, y sobre el pueblo de mi maldición, para el juicio.

6 The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

La espada de Yahvé está llena de sangre. Está cubierto de grasa, de sangre de corderos y cabras, con la grasa de los riñones de los carneros; porque Yahvé tiene un sacrificio en Bozra, y una gran matanza en la tierra de Edom.

7 And the wild-oxen shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be drunken with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.

Los bueyes salvajes bajarán con ellos, y los novillos con los toros poderosos; y su tierra se embriagará de sangre, y su polvo engrasado con grasa.

8 For it is the day of the LORD’S vengeance, the year of recompence in the controversy of Zion.

Porque Yahvé tiene un día de venganza, un año de recompensa para la causa de Sion.

9 And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.

Sus arroyos se convertirán en brea, su polvo en azufre, y su tierra se convertirá en brea ardiente.

10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.

No se apagará ni de noche ni de día. Su humo subirá para siempre. De generación en generación, será un residuo. Nadie pasará por ella para siempre.

11 But the pelican and the porcupine shall possess it; and the owl and the raven shall dwell therein: and he shall stretch over it the line of confusion, and the plummet of emptiness.

Pero el pelícano y el puercoespín la poseerán. El búho y el cuervo habitarán en él. Él estirará la línea de confusión sobre ella, y la plomada del vacío.

12 They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there; and all her princes shall be nothing.

Llamarán a sus nobles al reino, pero ninguno estará allí; y todos sus príncipes no serán nada.

13 And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and thistles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of jackals, a court for ostriches.

En sus palacios surgirán espinas, ortigas y cardos en sus fortalezas; y será morada de chacales, un tribunal para avestruces.

14 And the wild beasts of the desert shall meet with the wolves, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; yea, the night-monster shall settle there, and shall find her a place of rest.

Los animales salvajes del desierto se encontrarán con los lobos, y la cabra salvaje gritará a su compañero. Sí, la criatura nocturna se instalará allí, y encontrará un lugar de descanso.

15 There shall the arrowsnake make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: yea, there shall the kites be gathered, every one with her mate.

La serpiente flecha hará su nido allí, y se acuestan, empollan y reúnen bajo su sombra. Sí, los cometas se reunirán allí, cada uno con su pareja.

16 Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall be missing, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.

Busca en el libro de Yahvé y lee: no faltará ninguno de ellos. A ninguna le faltará su pareja. Porque mi boca lo ha ordenado, y su Espíritu los ha reunido.

17 And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.

Ha echado la suerte por ellos, y su mano se la ha repartido con una línea de medida. La poseerán para siempre. De generación en generación, habitarán en ella.
