Isaiah 34
1 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye peoples: let the earth hear, and the fulness thereof; the world, and all things that come forth of it
Approchez-vous, nations, pour entendre! Ecoutez, vous les peuples. Que la terre et tout ce qu'elle contient entende, le monde, et tout ce qui en découle.
2 For the LORD hath indignation against all the nations, and fury against all their host: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
Car Yahvé est en colère contre toutes les nations, et en colère contre toutes leurs armées. Il les a complètement détruits. Il les a livrés à l'abattoir.
3 Their slain also shall be cast out, and the stink of their carcases shall come up, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
Leurs morts seront aussi chassés, et la puanteur de leurs cadavres remontera. Les montagnes fondront dans leur sang.
4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fade away, as the leaf fadeth from off the vine, and as a fading [leaf] from the fig tree.
Toute l'armée du ciel sera dissoute. Le ciel sera enroulé comme un rouleau, et toutes ses armées s'évanouiront, comme une feuille se détache d'une vigne ou d'un figuier.
5 For my sword hath drunk its fill in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Edom, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.
Car mon épée s'est abreuvée dans le ciel. Voici qu'il va s'abattre sur Edom, et sur le peuple de ma malédiction, pour le jugement.
6 The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
L'épée de Yahvé est remplie de sang. Il est couvert de graisse, du sang des agneaux et des chèvres, avec la graisse des rognons de béliers; car Yahvé a un sacrifice à Bozrah, et un grand massacre dans le pays d'Edom.
7 And the wild-oxen shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be drunken with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.
Les bœufs sauvages descendront avec eux, et les jeunes taureaux avec les taureaux puissants; et leur pays sera enivré de sang, et leur poussière rendue grasse par la graisse.
8 For it is the day of the LORD’S vengeance, the year of recompence in the controversy of Zion.
Car Yahvé a un jour de vengeance, une année de récompense pour la cause de Sion.
9 And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.
Ses ruisseaux se transformeront en poix, sa poussière en soufre, et sa terre deviendra de la poix brûlante.
10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.
Il ne s'éteint ni jour ni nuit. Sa fumée va s'élever pour toujours. De génération en génération, il restera en friche. Personne ne la traversera pour toujours et à jamais.
11 But the pelican and the porcupine shall possess it; and the owl and the raven shall dwell therein: and he shall stretch over it the line of confusion, and the plummet of emptiness.
Mais le pélican et le porc-épic la posséderont. Le hibou et le corbeau y habiteront. Il va étirer la ligne de la confusion à ce sujet, et le fil à plomb du vide.
12 They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there; and all her princes shall be nothing.
On appellera ses nobles dans le royaume, mais il n'y en aura aucun; et tous ses princes ne seront rien.
13 And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and thistles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of jackals, a court for ostriches.
Les épines surgiront dans ses palais, des orties et des chardons dans ses forteresses; et ce sera une habitation pour les chacals, un tribunal pour les autruches.
14 And the wild beasts of the desert shall meet with the wolves, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; yea, the night-monster shall settle there, and shall find her a place of rest.
Les animaux sauvages du désert rencontreront les loups, et le bouc sauvage criera à son compagnon. Oui, la créature de la nuit s'y installera, et trouvera un lieu de repos.
15 There shall the arrowsnake make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: yea, there shall the kites be gathered, every one with her mate.
Le serpent à flèche y fera son nid, et se coucher, éclore et se rassembler à son ombre. Oui, les cerfs-volants seront rassemblés là, chacun avec son compagnon.
16 Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall be missing, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.
Cherchez dans le livre de l'Éternel, et lisez: aucun d'entre eux ne manquera. Aucun ne manquera son compagnon. Car ma bouche a ordonné, et son Esprit les a rassemblés.
17 And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.
Il a jeté le sort pour eux, et sa main l'a divisé pour eux avec une ligne de mesure. Ils la posséderont pour toujours. De génération en génération, ils y habiteront.
