Isaiah 30
1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:
Wehe den widerspenstigen Söhnen - ist der Spruch Jahwes -, die einen Plan betreiben, der nicht von mir ausgegangen ist, und ein Bündnis schließen, das nicht nach meinem Willen ist, so daß sie Sünde auf Sünde häufen, -
2 that walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!
die sich auf den Weg nach Ägypten gemacht haben, ohne meinen Mund zu befragen, um sich mit dem Schutze des Pharao zu schützen und im Schatten Ägyptens Zuflucht zu suchen.
3 Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.
Aber der Schutz des Pharao wird euch zur Enttäuschung und die Zuflucht im Schatten Ägyptens zur Schmach gereichen.
4 For his princes are at Zoan, and his ambassadors are come to Hanes.
Mögen auch seine Beamten in Zoan sein, und seine Boten bis nach Hanes gelangen,
5 They shall all be ashamed of a people that cannot profit them, that are not an help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.
alle werden enttäuscht über ein Volk, das ihnen nicht nützt, das keine Hilfe und keinen Nutzen, sondern Enttäuschung, ja Schande bringt.
6 The burden of the beasts of the South. Through the land of trouble and anguish, from whence come the lioness and the lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not profit [them].
Ausspruch über die Tiere des Südens. Durch ein Land der Not und Angst, wie sie dort Löwe und Löwin, Ottern und fliegende Drachen bringen, schleppen sie ihre Reichtümer auf dem Rücken von Eseln und ihre Schätze auf dem Höcker von Kamelen zu einem Volke, das nicht nützt!
7 For Egypt helpeth in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I called her Rahab that sitteth still.
Ägyptens Hilfe ist ja eitel und nichtig. Darum nenne ich es: Großmaul, das nichts thut.
8 Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and inscribe it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever.
Nun gehe hinein! Schreibe es auf eine Tafel vor ihnen und fasse es in Schrift ab, daß es für die künftige Zeit als Zeuge auf immer diene!
9 For it is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:
Denn ein widerspenstiges Volk ist es, verlogene Söhne, Söhne, die die Weisung Jahwes nicht hören wollten;
10 which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:
die den Sehern befahlen: Ihr sollt nicht sehen! und den Weissagern: Ihr sollt uns nicht die Wahrheit weissagen! Redet uns Angenehmes, weissagt Täuschungen!
11 get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.
Weicht vom Wege ab, biegt ab vom Pfade! Laßt uns mit dem Heiligen Israels in Ruhe!
12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon;
Darum hat der Heilige Israels also gesprochen: Weil ihr dieses Wort verworfen und auf Verkehrtheit und Falschheit vertraut und euch darauf gestützt habt,
13 therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.
darum soll euch diese Missethat werden wie ein Einsturz drohender Riß, der hervortritt an einer hohen Mauer, deren Zertrümmerung plötzlich, im Augenblick, eintreten kann, -
14 And he shall break it as a potter’s vessel is broken, breaking it in pieces without sparing; so that there shall not be found among the pieces thereof a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water withal out of the cistern.
der sie zertrümmert, wie man einen Töpferkrug zertrümmert, der schonungslos in Stücke geschlagen wird, so daß sich unter seinen Stücken nicht eine Scherbe findet, mit der man Kohlen aus dem Brande scharren oder Wasser aus der Zisterne schöpfen könnte.
15 For thus said the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.
Denn der Herr Jahwe, der Heilige Israels, hatte also gesprochen: In Umkehr und Ruhe besteht euer Heil, in Stille und Vertrauen besteht eure Heldenkraft! Aber ihr wolltet nicht
16 but ye said, No, for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.
und sagtet: Nein! sondern auf Rossen wollen wir dahinfliegen! - deshalb sollt ihr fliehen! Und auf Rennern wollen wir reiten! - deshalb sollen rennen eure Verfolger!
17 One thousand [shall flee] at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as an ensign on an hill.
Tausend von euch sollen fliehen vor dem Kriegsruf eines Einzigen, vor dem Kriegsruf von fünf Leuten, bis euer Rest geworden ist wie ein Mast auf dem Berggipfel, wie ein Panier auf dem Hügel.
18 And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment; blessed are all they that wait for him.
Darum wartet Jahwe darauf, euch zu begnadigen, und darum wird er sich erheben, sich eurer zu erbarmen. Denn Jahwe ist ein Gott des Rechts. Heil allen, die auf ihn warten!
19 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more; he will surely be gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear, he will answer thee.
Ja du Volk, das auf dem Zion, das zu Jerusalem wohnt: Immerfort sollst du nicht weinen! Gewiß wird er dich begnadigen infolge deines Schreiens. Wenn er es vernimmt, erhört er dich.
20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be hidden any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:
Und wenn euch der Herr Brot der Not und Wasser der Drangsal geben wird, werden sich deine Lehrer nicht mehr verbergen, sondern deine Augen werden beständig deine Lehrer erblicken,
21 and thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it; when ye turn to the right hand and when e turn to the left.
und deine Ohren werden hinter dir den Ruf vernehmen: Das ist der Weg! Ihn geht! wenn ihr nach rechts geht oder nach links abbiegt.
22 And ye shall defile the overlaying of thy graven images of silver, and the plating of thy molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as an unclean thing; thou shalt say unto it, Get thee hence.
Da werdet ihr dann eure mit Silber beschlagenen Götzen und eure mit Gold überzogenen Gußbilder verunreinigen. Wie etwas Ekelhaftes wirst du sie hinwerfen. Hinaus! wirst du zu ihnen sprechen.
23 And he shall give the rain of thy seed, that thou shalt sow the ground withal; and bread of the increase of the ground, and it shall be fat and plenteous: in that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures.
Und er wird Regen für deine Saat spenden, mit der du den Acker besäest, und das Getreide, das der Acker trägt, wird saftvoll und fett sein. Dein Vieh wird an jenem Tag auf weiter Aue weiden.
24 the oxen likewise and the young asses that till the ground shall eat savoury provender, which hath been winnowed with the shovel and with the fan.
Die Ochsen und die Esel, die den Acker bearbeiten, werden gesalzenes Mengfutter fressen, das mit der Schaufel und der Gabel geworfelt ist.
25 And there shall be upon every lofty mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers [and] streams of waters, in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.
Auf allen hohen Bergen und auf allen hochragenden Hügeln wird es Bäche geben, Wasserströme, am Tage des großen Mordens, wenn die Türme fallen.
26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the hurt of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.
Das Licht des Mondes wird dem Lichte der Sonne gleichen, und das Licht der Sonne wird siebenfach sein wie das Licht von sieben Tagen, wenn Jahwe den Schaden seines Volks verbindet und die ihm geschlagenen Wunden heilt.
27 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and in thick rising smoke: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue is as a devouring fire:
Da kommt die Erscheinung Jahwes aus der Ferne - sein Zorn lodert, und schwere Rauchwolken steigen auf. Seine Lippen schäumen vor Grimm, seine Zunge gleicht verzehrendem Feuer,
28 and his breath is as an overflowing stream, that reacheth even unto the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and a bridle that causeth to err [shall be] in the jaws of the peoples.
sein Hauch dem überschwemmenden Strom, der bis an den Hals reicht, - um die Völker in der Schwinge des Verderbens zu schwingen, ein irreführender Zaum an den Kinnbacken der Nationen.
29 Ye shall have a song as in the night when a holy feast is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the LORD, to the Rock of Israel.
Lieder werdet ihr singen wie in der Nacht der Festweihe und freudig gestimmt sein, wie die Wallfahrer, die unter Flötenspiel auf den Berg Jahwes kommen, zum Felsen Israels.
30 And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of [his] anger, and the flame of a devouring fire, with a blast, and tempest, and hailstones.
Jahwe läßt seine majestätische Stimme erschallen und das Herabfahren seines Armes sehen mit tobendem Zorn und der Flamme verzehrenden Feuers, unter Sturm und Wetter und Hagelsteinen.
31 For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be broken in pieces, which smote with a rod.
Denn vor dem Donner Jahwes soll Assur erschrecken, wenn er mit dem Stocke schlägt.
32 And every stroke of the appointed staff, which the LORD shall lay upon him, shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with them.
So oft der Stab des Verhängnisses einherfährt, den Jahwe auf ihn niedersenden wird, sollen Pauken und Zithern erschallen, und mit rastlos geschwungener Hand wird er gegen sie kämpfen.
33 For a Topheth is prepared of old; yea, for the king it is made ready; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.
Denn bereits ist ein Tophet zugerüstet! Auch das ist für den König bereitet! Tief und breit ist sein Holzstoß, Feuer und Holz ist in Menge da! Der Odem Jahwes, gleich einem Schwefelstrom, setzt es in Brand.
