Isaiah 23
1 The burden of Tyre. Howl, ye ships of Tarshish; for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in: from the land of Kittim it is revealed to them.
Povara Tirului. Urlaţi, corăbii ale Tarsisului; fiindcă este risipit, încât nu este casă, nici intrare, din ţara Chitim li s-a arătat.
2 Be still, ye inhabitants of the isle; thou whom the merchants of Zidon, that pass over the sea, have replenished.
Tăceţi, voi locuitori ai insulei, pe care comercianţii Sidonului, care trec peste mare, te-au umplut.
3 And on great waters the seed of Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue; and she was the mart of nations.
Şi prin ape mari sămânţa Sihorului, secerişul râului, este venitul lui; şi este un târg de naţiuni.
4 Be thou ashamed, O Zidon: for the sea hath spoken, the strong hold of the sea; saying, I have not travailed, nor brought forth, neither have I nourished young men, nor brought up virgins.
Fii ruşinat, Sidonule; căci marea a vorbit, tăria mării, spunând: Nu am durerile naşterii, nici nu nasc copii, nici nu hrănesc tineri, nici nu cresc fecioare.
5 When the report cometh to Egypt, they shall be sorely pained at the report of Tyre.
Ca şi la mărturia referitoare la Egipt, la fel vor fi îndureraţi adânc la mărturia Tirului.
6 Pass ye over to Tarshish; howl, ye inhabitants of the isle.
Treceţi în Tarsis; urlaţi, locuitori ai insulei.
7 Is this your joyous [city], whose antiquity is of ancient days, whose feet carried her afar off to sojourn?
Este aceasta cetatea voastră bucuroasă, a cărei obârşie este din zilele de demult? Propriile picioare o vor purta departe să locuiască temporar.
8 Who hath purposed this against Tyre, the crowning [city], whose merchants are princes, whose traffickers are the honourable of the earth?
Cine a ţinut acest sfat împotriva Tirului, cetatea cea încoronată, a cărei comercianţi sunt prinţi, a cărei negustori sunt cei demni de cinste ai pământului?
9 The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth.
DOMNUL oştirilor a hotărât aceasta, să întineze mândria întregii glorii şi să aducă în dispreţ pe toţi cei demni de cinste ai pământului.
10 Pass through thy land as the Nile, O daughter of Tarshish; there is no girdle [about thee] any more.
Treci prin ţara ta ca un râu, fiica Tarsisului; nu mai este putere.
11 He hath stretched out his hand over the sea, he hath shaken the kingdoms: the LORD hath given commandment concerning Canaan, to destroy the strong holds thereof.
El şi-a întins mâna asupra mării, a scuturat împărăţiile; DOMNUL a dat poruncă împotriva cetăţii negustoreşti, pentru a-i distruge întăriturile.
12 And he said, Thou shalt no more rejoice, O thou oppressed virgin daughter of Zidon: arise, pass over to Kittim; even there shalt thou have no rest.
Şi a spus: Nu te vei mai bucura, fecioară oprimată, fiică a Sidonului; ridică-te, treci în Chitim; acolo de asemenea nu vei avea odihnă.
13 Behold, the land of the Chaldeans; this people is no more; the Assyrian hath appointed it for the beasts of the wilderness: they set up their towers, they overthrew the palaces thereof; he made it a ruin.
Iată, ţara caldeilor; acest popor nu era, până când asirienii nu l-au întemeiat pentru cei care locuiesc în pustiu; i-au aşezat turnurile, i-au ridicat palatele; iar el a adus-o la ruină.
14 Howl, ye ships of Tarshish: for your strong hold is laid waste.
Urlaţi, corăbii ale Tarsisului, căci puterea voastră este risipită.
15 And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years it shall be unto Tyre as in the song of the harlot.
Şi se va întâmpla, în acea zi, că Tirul va fi uitat şaptezeci de ani, conform zilelor unui împărat, după sfârşitul a şaptezeci de ani va cânta Tirul ca o curvă.
16 Take an harp, go about the city, thou harlot that hast been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered.
Ia o harpă, cutreieră cetatea, tu curvă care ai fost uitată; cântă melodie dulce, cântă multe cântece, ca să fi amintită.
17 And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre, and she shall return to her hire, and shall play the harlot with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth.
Şi se va întâmpla după sfârşitul a şaptezeci de ani, că DOMNUL va cerceta Tirul, iar ea se va întoarce la câştigul ei şi va curvi cu toate împărăţiile lumii de pe faţa pământului.
18 And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.
Şi marfa şi câştigul ei va fi sfinţenie DOMNULUI; nu va fi nici tezaurizată, nici strânsă; fiindcă marfa ei va fi pentru cei ce locuiesc înaintea DOMNULUI, pentru a mânca de ajuns şi pentru îmbrăcăminte durabilă.
