Isaiah 23
1 The burden of Tyre. Howl, ye ships of Tarshish; for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in: from the land of Kittim it is revealed to them.
URLATE, navi di Tarsis; perciocchè ella è guasta, per modo che non vi sarà più casa, e non vi si verrà più. Questo è apparito loro dal paese di Chittim.
2 Be still, ye inhabitants of the isle; thou whom the merchants of Zidon, that pass over the sea, have replenished.
Tacete, abitanti dell'isola. I mercatanti di Sidon, quelli che fanno viaggi in sul mare, ti riempievano.
3 And on great waters the seed of Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue; and she was the mart of nations.
E la sua entrata [era] la sementa del Nilo; la ricolta del fiume, [portata] sopra grandi acque; ed ella era il mercato delle nazioni.
4 Be thou ashamed, O Zidon: for the sea hath spoken, the strong hold of the sea; saying, I have not travailed, nor brought forth, neither have I nourished young men, nor brought up virgins.
Sii confusa, Sidon; perciocchè il mare, la fortezza del mare, ha detto così: Io non partorisco, nè genero, nè cresco [più] giovani; [non] allevo [più] vergini.
5 When the report cometh to Egypt, they shall be sorely pained at the report of Tyre.
Quando il grido [ne sarà pervenuto] agli Egizi, saranno addolorati, secondo ciò che udiranno di Tiro.
6 Pass ye over to Tarshish; howl, ye inhabitants of the isle.
Passate in Tarsis, urlate, abitanti dell'isola.
7 Is this your joyous [city], whose antiquity is of ancient days, whose feet carried her afar off to sojourn?
E questa la vostra [città] trionfante, la cui antichità [è] fin dal tempo antico? i suoi piedi la porteranno a dimorar come straniera in lontano [paese].
8 Who hath purposed this against Tyre, the crowning [city], whose merchants are princes, whose traffickers are the honourable of the earth?
Chi ha preso questo consiglio contro a Tiro, la coronata, i cui mercatanti [erano] principi, e i cui negozianti [erano] i più onorati della terra?
9 The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth.
Il Signor degli eserciti ha preso questo consiglio, per abbatter vituperosamente l'alterezza di ogni nobiltà, per avvilire i più onorati della terra.
10 Pass through thy land as the Nile, O daughter of Tarshish; there is no girdle [about thee] any more.
Passa fuori del tuo paese, come un rivo, o figliuola di Tarsis; non [vi è] più cintura.
11 He hath stretched out his hand over the sea, he hath shaken the kingdoms: the LORD hath given commandment concerning Canaan, to destroy the strong holds thereof.
Il Signore ha stesa la sua mano sopra il mare, egli ha fatti tremare i regni; egli ha dato comandamento contro a' Cananei, che si distruggano le fortezze di quella.
12 And he said, Thou shalt no more rejoice, O thou oppressed virgin daughter of Zidon: arise, pass over to Kittim; even there shalt thou have no rest.
Ed ha detto: Tu non continuerai più a trionfare, o vergine, figliuola di Sidon, che hai da essere oppressata; levati, passa in Chittim; ancora quivi non avrai riposo.
13 Behold, the land of the Chaldeans; this people is no more; the Assyrian hath appointed it for the beasts of the wilderness: they set up their towers, they overthrew the palaces thereof; he made it a ruin.
Ecco il paese de' Caldei; questo popolo non era [ancora, quando] Assur fondò quello per coloro che dimoravano ne' deserti; essi aveano rizzate le sue torri, aveano alzati i suoi palazzi; [e pure] egli è stato messo in ruina.
14 Howl, ye ships of Tarshish: for your strong hold is laid waste.
Urlate, navi di Tarsis; perciocchè la vostra fortezza è stata guasta.
15 And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years it shall be unto Tyre as in the song of the harlot.
E in quel giorno avverrà che Tiro sarà dimenticata per settant'anni, secondo i giorni d'un re; [ma], in capo di settant'anni Tiro avrà [in bocca] come una canzone di meretrice.
16 Take an harp, go about the city, thou harlot that hast been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered.
Prendi la cetera, va' attorno alla città, o meretrice dimenticata; suona pur bene, canta pur forte, acciocchè altri si ricordi di te.
17 And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre, and she shall return to her hire, and shall play the harlot with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth.
E in capo di settant'anni, avverrà che il Signore visiterà Tiro, ed ella ritornerà al suo guadagno; e fornicherà, con tutti i regni del mondo, sopra la faccia della terra.
18 And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.
Ma, [alla fine], il suo traffico, e il suo guadagno, [sarà] consacrato al Signore; egli non sarà riposto, nè serrato; anzi la sua mercatanzia sarà per quelli che abitano nel cospetto del Signore, per mangiare a sazietà, e per esser coperti di vestimenti durabili.
