< Isaiah 17 >
1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
Ĩno nĩyo ndũmĩrĩri nditũ ĩkoniĩ Dameski: “Atĩrĩrĩ, itũũra rĩa Dameski rĩtigũcooka gũtuĩka itũũra inene rĩngĩ, no rĩrĩ, rĩgaatuĩka hĩba ya mwanangĩko.
2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
Matũũra marĩa manene ma Aroeri nĩmagatiganĩrio, matigĩrwo ndũũru cia mbũri iria igaakomaga kũu, gũtarĩ mũndũ wa gũcimakia.
3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria; they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.
Kĩĩgitĩro kĩrĩa kĩrũmu kĩa Efiraimu nĩgĩkeherio, o na hinya wa ũthamaki weherio Dameski; namo matigari ma Suriata makaahaana o ta riiri wa andũ a Isiraeli,” ũguo nĩguo Jehova Mwene-Hinya-Wothe ekuuga.
4 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.
“Ihinda rĩu riiri wa Jakubu nĩ ũgaatheũka; naguo mwĩrĩ ũcio wake mũnoru ũhĩnje.
5 And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the standing corn, and his arm reapeth the ears; yea, it shall be as when one gleaneth ears in the valley of Rephaim.
Gũkaahaana o ta rĩrĩa mũgethi acookanagĩrĩria ngano ĩrĩa ĩtarĩ ngethe, akagetha ngano na guoko gwake: gũkahaana ta mũndũ ũkũhaara itira cia ngano Gĩtuamba-inĩ kĩa Refaimu.
6 Yet there shall be left therein gleanings, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost branches of a fruitful tree, saith the LORD, the God of Israel.
No rĩrĩ, nĩgũgatigwo ngano ĩngĩhaarwo, o ta ũrĩa maciaro ma mũtamaiyũ matangĩitĩka mothe mũtĩ ũcio ũngĩinainio, no ndamaiyũ igĩrĩ kana ithatũ nĩitigaraga honge-inĩ iria irĩ igũrũ gacũmbĩrĩ, o na inya kana ithano igatigara honge-inĩ iria irĩ na maciaro maingĩ,” ũguo nĩguo Jehova Ngai wa Isiraeli ekuuga.
7 In that day shall a man look unto his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
Mũthenya ũcio, andũ magaacũthĩrĩria Ũrĩa Mũũmbi wao, namo maitho mao marore Ũrĩa Mũtheru wa Isiraeli.
8 And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall he have respect to that which his fingers have made, either the Asherim, or the sun-images.
Matigacũthĩrĩria igongona iria mathondekete na moko mao, na matikarũmbũiya itugĩ cia Ashera, na magongona marĩa methondekeire ma gũcinĩra ũbumba.
9 In that day shall his strong cities be as the forsaken places in the wood and on the mountain top, which were forsaken from before the children of Israel: and it shall be a desolation.
Mũthenya ũcio matũũra mao manene marĩa marĩ hinya, marĩa maatiganĩirio makĩũrĩra andũ a Isiraeli, makahaana ta kũndũ gũtiganĩrie gũgatuĩka gĩthaka, na gũgakũra mahuti. Namo matũũra macio magaakira ihooru.
10 For thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength; therefore thou plantest pleasant plants, and settest it with strange slips:
Nĩmũriganĩirwo nĩ Ngai, Mũhonokia wanyu; nĩmwagĩte kũririkana Rwaro rũu rwa Ihiga, o rũu kĩĩgitĩro kĩanyu. Nĩ ũndũ ũcio o na mũngĩkahaanda mĩmera ĩrĩa mĩega mũno, na mũhaande mĩthabibũ ya kuuma kũndũ kũngĩ,
11 In the day of thy planting thou hedgest it in, and in the morning thou makest thy seed to blossom: but the harvest fleeth away in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.
o na mũngĩgaatũma ĩkũre mũthenya o ro ũcio mũkaamĩhaanda, o na rũciinĩ rũrũ rũngĩ mũtũme ĩrute kĩro-rĩ, gũtirĩ magetha mũkoona mũthenya ũcio wa mũrimũ na ruo rũtangĩthira.
12 Ah, the uproar of many peoples, which roar like the roaring of the seas; and the rushing of nations, that rush like the rushing of mighty waters!
Ĩiya-ĩ, mũrurumo wa ndũrĩrĩ nyingĩ, iraruruma ta iria rĩkĩhuhũkania! Ĩiya-ĩ, inegene rĩa kĩrĩndĩ kĩranegena, o ta mũrurumo wa maaĩ maingĩ.
13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but he shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like the whirling dust before the storm.
O na gũtuĩka ndũrĩrĩ iranegena na mũrurumo ta wa ndiihũ cia maaĩ maingĩ-rĩ, hĩndĩ ĩrĩa we mwene aacikũũma, ciũraga igathiĩ kũndũ kũraya mũno, ihurutĩtwo nĩ rũhuho ta ũrĩa mũũngũ ũrĩ irĩma-inĩ ũmbũragwo, kana ta riya rĩgĩthiũrũrũkio nĩ rũhuho rũnene.
14 At eventide behold terror; [and] before the morning they are not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.
Hwaĩ-inĩ, o rĩmwe gũkagĩa kĩmako kĩnene! Gũtanakĩa-rĩ, andũ matirĩ ho! Rĩu nĩrĩo igai rĩa andũ arĩa matũtunyaga indo ciitũ, ũcio nĩguo mũtĩ ũrĩa ũgwĩrĩire andũ arĩa matũtahaga indo ciitũ.
